Closed Circuit Video Baluns
Application
Traditionally, coaxial cables such as RG59 are used for connecting the CCTV video camera to the DVR but now it is possible, through use
of EQL’s Passive Video Balun (Coax to Cat 5e/6 Converter), to replace the more expensive coaxial cable with Cat 5e/6 cable for runs up
to 400 metres with negligible signal degradation. EQL’s single or quad CCTV baluns enable video signals to be interfaced to twisted pair
cabling using modular RJ45 connectors or alternatively, for single baluns, insulation displacement connectors (IDC) to achieve quick and
reliable connections. With much lower Cat 5e/6 cabling costs compared to coaxial cabling costs, savings of up to 15% for a single cable
run and up to 70% for quad cable runs can be achieved. Typical applications are shown below.

Power is applied to each RJ45 jack from a common power supply via a 2 pole screw
terminal connector. The pinout of each RJ45 connector has been standardised to allow the

Use with the E10172P or E10172PS panel to create a professional rack mount solution.
The maximum distance between the camera and the E10174 at the hub end depends on the

Surge Protector
The Surge Protector is used to protect sensitive equipment, such as cameras and DVR’s, with
different ground potential from power surges and lightning activity. The unit connects between
the camera and connecting coaxial cable and is recommended for use where cameras are
installed externally in open space that is vulnerable to lightning strikes.
Designed to offer a combined surge capacity of 3000 watts and Impulse Discharge Current of
10KA @ 8*20 μ/s short wave and 100A @ 10*1000 μ/s long wave.

PS-2 Keyboard Mouse RJ45 Converter
The Keyboard / Mouse PS-2 Converter allows the connection of a standard PS-2 Keyboard
and Mouse to a PC via Cat 5e/Cat 6 UTP cable.

Video Ground Loop Isolator
The Video Ground Loop Isolator has been specifically designed to provide a cost effective solution to a common CCTV problem of multiple
ground paths or ground loops which results in a rolling hum bar or instability in the picture being captured.
Where it has been established that multiple ground paths is the cause of the problem and not the result of the power supply being used or
poor video signal, the EQL Video Ground Loop Isolator will eliminate multiple ground paths and hence hum bar and related symptoms,
giving you a crisp, clear picture.
An added feature of the Video Ground Loop Isolator is the incorporation of a Transient Voltage Suppressor to protect against surges.

equipped with global shutter functionality which prevents distortion
of images. The quickest 1/20000s shutter can capture the car
license plate with car speeds up to 180 km/h.

With advanced camera settings, the smart AE & exposure value
adjustment, Nexcom is capable of capturing both non-reflective
and reflective plates concurrently to save on camera quantity and

Smart Illumination
Smart IR is superior to traditional IR by automatically adjusting IR
output in response to the distance of the object in view. The closer
the object, the dimmer the IR will be. This will avoid object overexposure commonly seen in cameras using traditional IR
functions. Over exposure makes it almost impossible to accurately
recognise human faces or vital characteristics.

High resolution Nexcom can capture a maximum of 3 lanes of
images with clear quality.
Global Shutter
Compared with rolling shutter, global shutter can capture images
of high speed moving objects without distortion, which provides

True WDR is designed for challenging lighting conditions. It
captures both dark & bright parts & combines the difference to
generate a highly realistic image, preserving as much information
as possible. True WDR helps provide video that is closer to the
capabilities of the human eye & is largely applied in high contrast
areas such as entrances, car parks, ATMs & loading areas.
3D DNR
The latest 3D DNR technology deducts noise effectively under
low-light environment, which can help not only to clear the image
but also save the storage space of the NVR.
Anti-Smear
Prevents smear effect caused by headlight or strong light such as
sunlight or street lamps. This is a commonly faced problem with
normal CCD cameras. Without the Anti-Smear feature, smear
effects might cause difficulties in proceeding recognition.
Clear Image with Colour Filters
The user can set RGB colour filters to get the image to be very

CMS Professional is an advanced client application that works in conjunction with NetStation & NetHybrid
servers. The software provides the capability of remote monitoring both one location and larger systems

These Self-Laminating cable labels are designed to wrap around the cable, laminating it as they
are applied to create a durable, easy-to-read cable label. They can also be used as a flag label if

Made from adhesive polyester & supplied on A4 sheets suitable for all standard office laser
printers, the top third of the label is the print area, and the bottom two thirds of the label is clear

G703 Baluns & Applications
Transmission baluns are used for matching impedance from a balanced source or input to an unbalanced output, hence the term balun. In
telecommunications, a balanced source is connected using twisted pair cabling (120Ω impedance) and an unbalanced source is coaxial
(75Ω impedance). Other impedances such as 100 ohms for twisted pair and 50 ohms for coaxial may be used on occasion. The primary
function of the balun is to provide matching to the source or load to maximise power transfer between the connected systems and
therefore minimise reflections that would otherwise impair the signal, resulting in higher bit error rates for digital transmissions.
G703 Standard Balun Specifications
Electrical Characteristics
 Data speeds up to 8 Mbps for Standard E1/E2 Baluns and 34 Mbps for E3 Balun
 Impedance is 75 + 3 ohm resistive to 120 + 4 ohm resistive at 1.024 MHz
 The insertion loss at 1.024 MHz is less than 0.4 dB between 0.1 MHz to 10 MHz
 Cross talk between any two baluns with 15mm pitch is < -70 dB between 0.1 MHz to 10 MHz
 Return Loss is better than 24 dB between 1 MHz to 10 MHz conforming with G703
Physical Characteristics
 Designed to fit inside a 15 x 15 x 52 mm volume
 The mechanical endurance of coaxial connectors are designed for > 500 connect/disconnect cycles
 The 120 ohm IDC connectors are designed to accept conductors with a nominal diameter of 0.5 mm
 The IDC termination is designed for up to 200 cycles and is offset to allow twisted pair cable to pass

To facilitate installation, EQL is now offering its range of G703 Baluns with a quick connect insertion tab. Twisted pair cable can now be
terminated onto the IDC without the use of an insertion tool, saving on cost of tool and installation time. Available coaxial interfaces are the
same for standard baluns.
