AM 放送の周波数ステップ（間隔）について

このラジオは工場出荷時、 A M の周波数間隔が

9kHz に設定されています。これは、日本をはじめ

世界の大多数の国が 9kHz 周波数ステップで放送を

行なっているためです。周波数ステップが 10kHz ス

テップの国でお使いになるときは、周波数ステップ

を切り換えてご使用ください。

このラジオは工場出荷時、 AM 9kHz の周波数間隔

で受信するように設定されています。 10kHz ステッ

プで放送している地域でお使いになるときは、周波

数ステップを切り換えてください。

POWER （ AUTO OFF ）ボタンを押してラジ

オの電源を切る。

ENTER/CLOCK ボタンを押しながら、

（ AUTO OFF ）ボタンを約 5 秒以上

押したままにする。

「ピピッ」という音がして、周波数ステップが

切り換わります。表示窓に「 9 kHz 」または

「 10 kHz 」の表示が 3 秒間点滅します。

元の周波数ステップに戻すには、手順 2 をもう

一度行なってください。

ご注意

周波数ステップを切り換えると、プリセット番号に

記憶しておいた放送局が消えます。時計表示は切り

換えても変わりません。

乾電池の交換時期

乾電池が消耗してくると、音が小さくなったりひ

ずんだりします。また、表示窓に「i」が点滅し

たり点灯します。そのときは、 2 本とも新しい乾

電池に交換してください。

交換するときは、電源を切ってから 30 秒以内に

入れ換えてください。 30 秒以上経過すると、現

在時刻やプリセットした局の記憶が消えてしまい

ます。そのときはもう一度設定し直してくださ

い。

交換後、「i 」表示を消すには、 P O W E R

(AUTO OFF) ボタンを押します。

時計を合わせる

初めて乾電池を入れると、表示窓に「 AM12 ： 00 」

が点滅します。点滅を止めるには、 E N T E R /

CLOCK ボタンを押します。

防ぐため、自動的に電源が切れるようになっていま

す。（パワーオートオフ機能）

電源が切れたあと、さらにお聞きになりたいとき

は、もう 1 度 POWER

ます。

受信状態を良くするには

FM ・ TV （ 1 − 3ch ）放送の場合 : ステレオイヤーレ

シーバーのコードがアンテナとして働きます。

コードをできるだけ長く伸ばしてお使いくださ

い。

AM 放送の場合 : AM アンテナは内蔵されているの

で、ラジオ本体の向きによって受信状態が変わ

ります。最も良く受信できる向きにしてお聞き

ください。

ステレオ放送を聞くときは

ステレオ放送を聞くときは本体裏面の FM スイッチ

を ST （ステレオ）にしておきます。雑音が気になる

ときは MONO

ますが、ステレオではなくなります。

低音を強調する

MEGA BASS （低音増強）スイッチを ON にしま

す。

低音を強調しないときは OFF にします。音がひずん

だように聞こえる場合では OFF にします。

タンを押しながら、 TUNE/TIME SET （選

局 / 時刻合わせ）の＋またはーボタンを押し

て、時刻を合わせる。 

＋ボタンを押すと時刻が進み、ーボタンを押す

と戻ります。押し続けると速く進みます。

表示窓の「：」が点滅を始め、時計が動き出し

ます。

秒まで正確に合わせるには電話の時報サービス

（ 117 番）が便利です。

AM は午前、 PM は午後です。

プリセット選局

いつも聞く放送局を FM7 局、 TV3 局（ TV1 − 3ch,

日本国内モデルのみ）と AM に 7 局、合わせて 17 局

まで記憶させることができます。聞くときは、プリ

セット番号を選ぶだけで受信できます。

記憶させたい放送局ごとに 1 ∼ 4 の手順を繰り返しま

記憶させた放送局を変更するには

手順 1 からやり直してください。

前に記憶させた放送局は消えます。

記憶させた局を聞くには

使用上のご注意

取り扱いについて

• 落としたり、強いショックを与えたりしないで

ください。故障の原因になります。

• 次のような場所には置かないでください。

ー温度が非常に高いところ (40 ℃以上 ) 。

ー直射日光のあたる場所や暖房器具の近く。

ー風呂場など湿気の多いところ。

ー窓を閉めきった自動車内 ( 特に夏季 ) 。

ーほこりの多いところ。

• ラジオ内部に液体や異物を入れないでください。

• 汚れたときは、柔らかい布でからぶきしてくださ

い。シンナーやベンジンは表面をいためますので

使わないでください。

• 耳をあまり刺激しないように、適度の音量でお楽

しみください。

日本国内でお使いになる場合

• このラジオのテレビ音声受信回路は、 FM 放送の

受信回路と兼用であるため、一部の地域では、テ

レビ 2 、または 3 チャンネルの音声を受信中、 FM

放送が混じって聞こえることがあります。

このときは、お近くのソニーサービス窓口にご相

談ください。

イヤーレシーバー（両耳用）で聞くときの

ご注意

イヤーレシーバーは、音量を上げすぎると音が外に

漏れます。音量を上げすぎて、まわりの人の迷惑に

ならないように気をつけましょう。

雑音の多いところでは音量を上げてしまいがちです

が、いつも呼びかけられて返事ができるくらいの音

量を目安にしてください。

万一故障した場合は、内部を開けずにお買い上げ店

またはソニーサービス窓口にご相談ください。

故障とお考えになる前に

サービス窓口にご相談になる前にもう一度チェック

してみてください。それでも具合が悪いときはお買

い上げ店またはソニーサービス窓口にご相談くださ

い。

雑音が多く、音が悪い m乾電池が消耗している m電波が弱い

建物や乗り物の中では電波が弱いので、なるべ

く窓際でお聞きください。

表示窓の文字や記号が薄くて見えない m乾電池が消耗している m極端に暑い場所や寒い所で使っている

プリセット選局しても、聞きたい放送局が受信

できない m間違ったプリセット番号を選んでいる mプリセットした記憶が消えている

もう一度、プリセット番号に局を記憶させてく

ださい。

The AM channel step differs depending on areas.

Knowing When to Replace the Batteries

• When the batteries become weak, the sound becomes weak and distorted, and “ i” will appear or flash in the display.

Replace the batteries with new ones.

• Before replacing the batteries, make sure that the radio is turned off. Replace the batteries within 30 seconds. Otherwise, the clock setting and preset stations could be erased. In this case, set the clock and preset the stations again.

• After replacing the batteries, to clear “ i” press

POWER (AUTO OFF).

Notes on Batteries

• Insert the batteries with correct polarity.

• Do not charge the dry batteries.

• Do not use different types of batteries at the same time.

• When you replace the batteries, replace both with new ones.

• When the unit is not being used for a long period of time, remove the batteries to avoid damage from battery leakage and corrosion.

• If a battery leakage occurs, wipe the battery compartment with a soft cloth before inserting new ones.

Setting the Clock

The time display of this clock is a 12-hour system.

The display will flash “AM 12:00” when the batteries are first installed.

Press ENTER/CLOCK to stop flashing of the display .

1 Press POWER (AUTO OFF) to turn off the power.

2 While holding down ENTER/CLOCK, press TUNE/TIME SET + or – to set the clock to the current time.

Each time you press the button, the digits move forward or backward by one.

When you keep the button pressed, the digits change rapidly.

3 When you release ENTER/CLOCK, the clock starts operating, and “:” starts flashing.

• To set the current time exactly to the second, release ENTER/CLOCK at step 3 with the telephone time signal.

• 12-hour system : “AM 12:00”= midnight ,

“PM 12:00”= noon.

The channel step of this unit is factory-set to

9 kHz or 10 kHz to match the frequency allocation system of the country as listed.

When needed, change the channel step before listening to the radio.

1 Press POWER (AUTO OFF) to turn off the power.

2 While holding down ENTER/CLOCK, keep pressing POWER (AUTO OFF) for more than 5 seconds.

You can hear the confirmation beep and the channel step (9 kHz or 10 kHz) will flash in the display for 3 seconds.

If you proceed to step 2 again, the channel step changes back to the previous channel step.

Note

• When the AM channel step is changed, the preset stations will be erased, and the clock time will be kept.

Operating the Radio

Connect the headphones to 2 .

Press POWER (AUTO OFF).

Press BAND to select the band.

Press TUNE/TIME SET + or – to tune in a station.

Adjust VOL (volume).

• To turn off the radio, press POWER (AUTO

OFF).

• The radio will be shut off automatically in about

90 minutes to prevent unnecessary wear of the batteries. To listen to the radio continuously, press the POWER (AUTO OFF) again.

• To improve radio reception

FM: Extend the headphones cord which functions as the FM antenna.

AM: Rotate the unit horizontally for optimum reception. A ferrite bar antenna is built in the unit.

To improve the sensitivity of stereo program

When listening to stereo program, normally set the

FM selector (at the rear of the unit) to the ST position. If the stereo program is too weak and noisy, set the FM selector to the MONO position.

(When the selector is set to the MONO position, the sound will become monaural.)

To obtain powerful bass sound

Switch MEGA BASS to ON. The “MEGA BASS” system produces a powerful bass.

When the sound become distorted, switch MEGA

BASS to OFF.

Preset Tuning

You can preset up to 7 stations in FM, 3 stations in

TV (TV 1-3, channels is use in Japan only) and 7 stations in AM, 17 stations altogether. Easily tuned by choosing a preset number you want to listen to.

1 Tune in a station to preset. (See

“Operating the Radio”)

2 Hold down ENTER/CLOCK until the preset number flashes in the display.

3 Press the MEMORY PRESET button repeatedly to choose the preset number.

4 Press ENTER/CLOCK.

You can hear the confirmation beep and preset number appears in the display.

Example: To set FM 90 MHz in preset button 2 for FM.

To preset another station, repeat these steps.

• To change the preset station, preset a new station number. The previous station will be cancelled.

Tuning in a Preset Station

1 Press POWER (AUTO OFF).

2 Select the band with BAND.

3 Press MEMORY PRESET button repeatedly to choose the preset stations.

4 Adjust VOL (volume).

Precautions

• Operate the unit only on 3 V DC with two R03

(size AAA) batteries.

• Avoid exposure to temperature extremes, direct sunlight, moisture, sand, dust or mechanical shock. Never leave in a car parked in the sun.

• Should anything fall into the unit, remove the batteries, and have the unit checked by qualified personnel before operating it any further.

• To clean the casing, use a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution.

• In vehicles or buildings, radio reception may be difficult of noisy. Try listening near a window.

Notes on Headphones

Road safety

Do not use headphones while driving, cycling, or operating any motorized vehicle. It may create a traffic hazard and is illegal in many areas. It can also be potentially dangerous to play your headphones at high volume while walking, especially at pedestrian crossings. You should exercise extreme caution or discontinue use in potentially hazardous situations.

Preventing hearing damage

Avoid using headphones at high volume.

Hearing experts advise against continuous, loud and extended play. If you experience a ringing in your ears, reduce volume or discontinue use.

Caring for others

Keep the volume at a moderate level. This will allow you to hear outside sounds and to be considerate to people around you.

Warning

If there is lightning when you are using the unit, take off the headphones immediately.

If you have any questions or problems concerning your unit, please consult your nearest Sony dealer.

Troubleshooting

Guide

Should any problem persist after you have made the following checks, consult your nearest Sony dealer.

Very weak or interrupted sound, or unsatisfactory reception

• Weak batteries

• In a vehicle or in a building, listen near a window.

Display is dim, or no indication is displayed.

• Weak batteries.

• The unit is being used in extremely high or low temperatures or in a place with excessive moisture.

The station cannot be received when a

MEMORY PRESET button is pressed.

• Chosen the wrong preset number.

• The memory of the station has been erased, preset the station again.

Sound is not heard and “ i” flashes in the display.

• Weak batteries.
