thermoMETER: The leading infrared temperature sensors for industrial applications
The infrared temperature
measurement system
Every body with a temperature above the
absolute zero point of 273.15°C (= 0 Kelvin)
sends electromagnetic radiation proportional to its own temperature to the surface,
the so-called intrinsic radiation. Part of this
radiation is infrared radiation which can be
used for temperature measurement. This
radiation penetrates the atmosphere and
is focussed on a detector element using a
lens (input lens) which produces an electrical signal in proportion to the radiation. The
signal is amplified and converted using
downstream digital signal conditioning into
an output size proportional to the object
temperature.
The measured value can be displayed on
a screen or output as an analogue signal
which makes simple connection to feedback control systems of the process controller possible.
thermoMETER lenses
There are several different lenses available for the various series. The lenses are basically
differentiated by the ratio of the distance of the measuring object to the diameter of the
measuring spot.
SF Lenses (Standard Focus Lenses) have an almost linear ratio while the CF Lenses (Close
Focus Lenses) have a smaller measuring spot in distances close to the sensor. The following diagrams show examples of the optical parameters for the CT series.
