Page 8 2 Basic Operation Power on/off Push the power switch of the player towards the right in the direction of for 3 seconds to turn on / off the MP4 player. Lock / hold button on/off While playing video, music or radio, you can set the lock button to ON position to prevent unintended button error operation. Engage Lock mode: Push the switch button of the player towards the left in the direction of “ ”. Once you hear a click sound, you will know that you have put the player on Hold / Lock mode. Unlock mode: Push the switch button of the player to the original middle position to unlock and restore button operation mode. Volume Control While playing music, fm radio, video etc., you can adjust the volume control using the + or – keys located below screen. “+” button is for increasing volume and “-” button is to reduce. Holding the + or – keys down, will continuously increase or reduce the volume. Switching to earphone/loud speaker mode On the screen, in the button menu, briefly press the speaker sign www.durgatronics.com button to Page 9 2 switch to speaker or earphone mode. If you don’t see the speaker sign on your screen while in music, video mode, pressing anywhere on the screen will make the Menu window & speaker icon appear. Power reset If your player freezes unexpectedly during operation you may use the rest button to reset your player. Your stylus pen will come in handy for this purpose. After using the rest button, turn on the unit as normal. Connecting your player to the computer and transferring data files. Start the computer and then connect the player to your computer using the USB cable. A successful connection will be heard in a form of a beep on your computer. Through this method you can transfer files to and from the player, simultaneously charging your MP4 player. You can use this MP4 player as a portable disc drive as well by storing all types of files. Battery High capacity lithium battery has been used in this player. The duration available of the battery power depends on volume, types of playing files and operation of batteries. Power off mode and Screen saver modes can be user defined to save batteries. www.durgatronics.com Page 10 2 Charging To charge your player you can connect the player to your computer or AC charger using the USB cable. The AC Charger has Red and Green LED indicator lights. When the light is Red it signifies that it is still charging. Once it turns Green, it is signifies that the player is fully charged. Using the MINI SD card When connecting the MP4 player to your computer you will see 2 removable disk drives appear. The first one is for the built-in memory disk for the player. The 2nd disk drive is the MINI SD card drive. If your player does not contain any MINI SD card you will not be able to access the 2nd disk drive. This unit supports MINI SD cards between 128MB to 4GB capacity. Inserting and Removing the MINI SD card Caution: Please insert and remove the MINI SD Card when the player is in OFF mode, otherwise, it may lead to the loss or damage of files. If no card is present in the player, the computer will be unable to perform any read or write operation on the 2nd disc drive allocated for the MINI SD Card. Inserting card: Put the MINI SD card face up (face up = words printed on the MINI SD card). Gently push the MINI SD card into the socket of the player. You can access the files stored in the card instantly. Removing: Gently pushing the MINI SD inwards, will cause the card to bounce outwards slightly, allowing you to pull it out manually. www.durgatronics.com Page 11 2 Main Interface This MP4 player has a user friendly touch screen operation system, empowering you to use it with greater efficiency and ease. In the main menu interface (page), click on the appropriate icon and to choose the desired function. While inside Music, Video, Photo and other modes you will see various controls available to www.durgatronics.com Page 12 2 make additional choices. After a few seconds of idle time, or when pressing the button, the menu buttons on the top and bottom of the screen will disappear / hide. Gently pressing the screen again will cause those buttons appear once again. Lyric display The player supports “LRC” lyric files To learn more about creating LRC files, downloading LRC software or lyric files, visit “http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LRC_(file_format)” LRC system plays synchronous lyrics with your music. Note: Names of lyrics and files of music must be identical (eg “freedom.lrc” “freedom.mp3”) and it should be in the same directory as the music files. Video Mode In the main menu interface, click on “Video” function icon on the screen to be able to access the “Video” function interface. After pressing the Video Icon on the Main Menu Interface, it will take you to an Explorer page showing “FLASH MEMORY”. Click on the Flash Memory to open up a list of video files presently available in your MP4 player. At any time you can press anywhere on the screen while in the Video Mode to access “Menu Window” which displays buttons on the Top and Bottom providing ways to access various functions available in the Video Mode. Play radio channels towards lower frequency direction Using the “Switch” button in the FM mode allows you to access “Manual Search, Preset, Delete, Save and Automatic Search” functions. Play radio channels towards higher frequency direction 1. Searching radio channels Briefly press the “ press “ / ” button in the FM mode. Select “Manual” option and use the ” button to search radio channels up and down manually. 2. Saving radio channels Briefly press the “ the ” button in the FM Radio Mode. Select “Mem” option using button . Using the “ ” button you can save the current radio channel. Select the radio channel position such as CH1.. CH2…and press the “ once. Auto search function and setting preset memory channels Briefly press the “ “ ” button, then use to select the “Auto” option. Press ” again to be able to perform the fully auto-search & preset saving radio functions. After the search is over, it will switch to the first radio channel automatically. To interrupt or stop the auto search process, press “ / ” at anytime during the search. 4. Deleting radio channels Press “ ” button once to select “Del” option. Press “ ” again to pop up the radio channel preset list. Select the preset radio channel position CH1…CH2… to be deleted, and then www.durgatronics.com press “ ” button to select “YES” for deletion. Method of Operation 1. Start Push the power switch towards the right “ ” direction for one second to start / pause the selected game. 2. How to play games Press “+/-/M” buttons at the bottom of the player as joysticks to play the games. 3. Exit Keeping the “M” continuously pressed will quit the game and take you back to the main menu interface. www.durgatronics.com Page 34 4 Settings In the main menu interface, press the “Settings” function on the screen to access the System Setup function. This function can offer function settings for “Music”, “Radio”, “Record” “Display”, “Auto play set”, “System”, “Power Off time”, “Default Set” and “Firmware Upgrade” Press the appropriate function setup icon on the screen to access the corresponding function setup option. In the “Setup” interface, pressing the “M” menu button at the bottom of the player for a long period of time will take you back to the main menu interface. www.durgatronics.com Page 35 4 1. Music In this setup, there are 4 options: Repeat Mode, Play Mode, EQ select and User EQ Set. Press the screen and use the “ / ” buttons on the bottom of the screen to select the setup options. Pressing twice in the Music Modes will allow you to select and open a sub-menu for that option. Using the above method of operation again will help you select one of the sub-menus. Pressing the “ ” icon will take you back to the previous page. | 1) Repeat Mode - In this menu, there are options to select: single once, repeat single music, folder once, repeat folder, repeat once, repeat all, intro option for listening to a few seconds of each song. 2) Play Mode - In this menu, there are: Sequence playing (ORDER), random playing (SHUFFLE) selection options. 3) EQ select - In this menu, there are: normal, 3D, rock, popular, classical, bass, jazz and user define options. 4) User EQ Set - In this menu there are five frequencies, within each frequency there are 7 levels for the user to adjust. www.durgatronics.com Page 36 4 2. Radio In this setup, there are two options: Stereo switch and FM Region. Touch the “ / ” buttons on the screen to select the desired options or press twice on the selected option directly to enter into the sub-menu. Press twice again to select any option in the sub-menu. Record In this setting, there are two options: REC Quality and REC Volume. Touch the “ / ” buttons on the screen to select the desired options or press twice on the selected option directly to enter into the sub-menu. Press twice again to select any option in the sub-menu. To go back to the previous page press the “ ” button once. 1) REC quality - In this menu there are: high quality and common quality options. 2) REC volume - In this menu, there are 5 options: +1, +2, +3, +4, +5. System In this setup there are 4 options such as Language, About, Calibrate and Bee. Touch the “ / ” buttons on the screen to select the desired options or press twice on the selected option directly to enter into the sub-menu. Press twice again to select any option in the sub-menu. To go back to the previous page press the “ ” button once. 1) Language - In this menu there are options of multiple languages. 2) About - In this menu, there is the remaining capacity and firmware software version number. This information is only read information. Briefly touch the information display zone on the screen and exit. 3) Calibrate - When you find that the contact screen position is not right, you can calibrate the contact buttons using this function. 4) Bee - In this menu, there are two options such as ON and OFF. www.durgatronics.com Page 42 4 7. Power Off time In this setup there are 6 options such as close, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and 120minutes options. Press the “YES” button once to restore to the factory default setup or “NO” to exit. www.durgatronics.com Page 44 4 Creating video files Installing AVI Converter software Put the drive disk attached to the unit in the computer compact disk driver. In the Windows Operation System, it will automatically pop up the installation interface. Click on “AVI CONVERTER” to start installing the software. Follow the installation prompt all the way till you complete the installation. About AVI video format AVI (Audio Video Interleave) is the most popular video format for the current portable media player as well as one of the most popular formats in the world. The video culture coded in the XVID/DIVX format has higher video quality but with smaller file size. The software enclosed reads the formats of AVI, MPG, MPEG, RMVB, VMV and DAT, etc and will help you convert them into AVI format quickly and with the highest quality. www.durgatronics.com Page 45 4 System requirements The basic configuration required by the video conversion software is: CPU: INTEL or AMD core: INTEL requires at least INTEL PENTIUM3 or over, including INTEL CELERON or CENTRINO series WINDOWS operation that must be installed with the player in the version of WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 9 or over. In addition, depending on the size of your video file, it is recommended that you have at least 3-5 GB worth of space on your hard drive. Operation process To begin converting a video file, launch the AVI Converter software. Click “Add” www.durgatronics.com Page 46 4 Enter the “Source File” - which would most likely be a DVD / VCD disc in your DVD disc drive. Enter the “Target File”- which would be the location of the folder where you would like your AVI file to be saved. Enter the “Target File Name”- enter the name of the file you would like your AVI file to be called. Choose the appropriate Quality & Aspect Ratio settings using the available choice Scope – If you wish to convert only a partial clip / segment of a chapter in a movie , you can do so by setting the Clock Counter from where you wish to start the movie and where you would like to end the clip. www.durgatronics.com Page 47 4 A successfully converted AVI video file can be played in this MP4 player. During the converting process , enter the Video Play menu, select the corresponding file, press the [MODE] key to play the video, long press to exit (the Video Play interface refers to the Screen Description). Upgrading the Firmware Firmware upgrade Press the “Firmware Upgrade” icon on the screen to access the “Firmware Upgrade” warning interface. Then connect the player to the computer USB interface to update the new firmware operation for the player. Press “Cancel” on the contact screen to exit. What is a Firmware? – Firmware is software that communicates with the hardware in your portable media player. The Firmware is responsible for the features, functions, interface outlook, system setup, power setup, power consumption and more, in your media player. Why do I need to upgrade my Firmware? – If there are unexpected bugs / errors in the original software or if there are new features released for your media player, it would be beneficial to upgrade the Firmware on your media player. Where can I obtain my Firmware upgrade? – Visit www.durgatronics.com from time to time to see if there is any information on Firmware upgrade for your media player model. If you don’t see any information about this on the website, it means that there are no upgrades available at this time. www.durgatronics.com Page 48 4 How often should I upgrade my Firmware? – It may or may not be necessary upgrade the firmware of your media player. Firmware upgrades are not released for all our products. Only those that require upgrades will be released as and when needed. Warning: Before upgrading the firmware, we recommend that you back up all your data in your iCONS player, as upgrading the firmware may erase all the data in your player. To begin upgrade: 1. Install the Firmware upgrading software on your computer, available on your software CD. 2. Click on System on the Main Menu Interface 3. Click on Firmware upgrade till you see the above displayed screen 4. Now connect the iCONS player to your computer with the provided USB Cable (not before step 2) www.durgatronics.com Page 49 4 5. 6. 7. 8. Your computer will attempt to read the iCONS player. In case it requires the driver for it, insert the enclosed software CD inside your CD driver. Choose the option to allow your computer to search the driver from your CD drive automatically Once the driver is successful installed launch the Firmware upgrading software (from your software CD) Click open and select the .rfw upgrade file. The firmware software will read that file and display the firmware version along with other information about the firmware you are about to upgrade your player with. www.durgatronics.com Page 50 4 9. 10. Click “Update”. Your computer will begin communicating with the iCONS player and begin the upgrading process. The whole process should take less than 5 minutes. After upgrading / updating the firmware, it may ask you to FORMAT DISC before you can transfer any new data into your player. Please click “OK” to format the disc in your media player. Please allow a few minutes to complete this operation. www.durgatronics.com Page 51 4 Common problems?: If for any reason it says that ROCK CHIP device not found, please unplug the device and ensure that you follow the above 1 - 5 steps again. Important Note: Firmware upgrade is to improve and optimize the performance of the iCONS player. The normal function of the player would not be affected even if the firmware isn’t upgraded. However the wrong operation of upgrading firmware or using an unauthorized firmware program may cause the device not to work normally! The firmware upgrade software of this player is not applied to other series of players and visa versa. Please ensure you obtain your firmware upgrade from the manufacturer only. www.durgatronics.com Page 52 4 Common Troubleshooting Issues 1. Player doesn’t turn on – charge the player using the AC Charger or connect your MP4 Player to your computer. When you see the sign “USB Connect”, it means that it is charging. If your player is completely discharged, please allow sufficient time to fully charge the player. 2. No response – If your product is not responding at anytime, using the RESET button located on the bottom right side of the player. (The reset button looks like a tiny hole). Pressing it once will turn off your player. Then proceed to turn it on using as described in the beginning of this manual. 3. Buttons do not work – check the silver button on the top of the player. Make sure it is in the middle and not on the hold function, which is to the left. Please refer to Basic Operations section of the Manual. 4. No Sound – check the volume levels on your screen, it may be set to “0”. If so, use the “+” button located at the bottom of your player to increase the volume. 5. Unable to switch from speaker to earphone mode – Uncheck the speaker mode on the top left side of your screen. Press the speaker icon once to cancel the speaker sound. 6. Noise while playing music / video file – damaged audio / video files do often cause there to be an unusual sound coming from the player. If you are hearing unusual noises on a good quality the music / video file is good, then try using another earphone. FM radio not catching any stations – since there isn’t any external antenna attached to your player, your player uses the earphones as an antenna. Connect your earphones to the player, then begin searching / setting your radio stations. The reception sensitivity may be affected while moving around. If you are catching a weak station, try moving around to catch a better signal. If your FM radio is not working despite trying all the above, then please have the FM module in your player checked by an authorized service center. Noise in the recorded files – The built in microphone is super fine and is omni directional, so it will record not only what you are try to record but also the background sound. To record a clear sound it is best to be in a place that has the least amount of background noise. 8. Garbled or unreadable text on your screen – please ensure that your player is set to ENGLISH mode, by using the Settings, System Settings & Language Settings on your player. 9. Unable to download files - Make sure that the computer and the player are properly connected. In addition, please make sure that there is sufficient free memory space in your player.
