How to create Pages and then create a Collection of those pages
NOTE: When sharing any aspect of your ePortfolio, please limit your sharing to Friends,
Specific Groups, Specific People, or to a Secret URL. Do not allow Public Access to any
page, or allow access to Logged In Users unless you intend for those pages to be widely
available and able to be reproduced. Academic staff sometimes choose to make their pages
public, but students should consider their privacy before sharing widely.
Important information
If all of your pages are in collections, they will not turn up as individual pages in the
Share tab of the Portfolio tab.
In your USQ Mahara ePortfolio, you can create pages that contain the artefacts you have
uploaded. These pages can be arranged and presented in any configuration you wish.
You can insert artefacts such as:
 Document files
 Résumé or CV details
 text
 journal (blog) posts
 video and audio files
 RSS feeds to external blogs

a. On your Dashboard, go to the Portfolio tab

f. As you can see, the layout of this page is three columns.
In this example, we are going to change it to a simple even two-column layout.
To do this, go to the Edit Layout tab and select the columns you want. Select Save at
the bottom:

g. You will be shown a message stating Page layout changed:
h. Now the page Title and Description will be edited. Go to the Edit Title and Description
tab.
Page title: You need to provide a title for your page, because by default, all pages
created are called “Untitled”.
Page description: You can write a short description of your page, such as its purpose or
a summary. Bear in mind this will show underneath your T
Tags: Tags are labels or keywords that you can use to classify and search for pages.
Name display format: You must choose which name should be displayed when
somebody else views your portfolio.
Click the Save button to save your changes.

k. Now you can add content to your page, such as text blocks, image blocks, files to
download, blocks from your resume, embedded video and RSS feeds.
To do this, go to the Edit Content tab of your profile. Here you can drag and drop
content blocks from the tabs (External content; Files, images and video; General;
Journals; Profile; Resume and USQ) to create your page.
In this example, a Text Box block is being dragged to the first column:

l. The configuration box will come up, and you can add a Title to the Text Box, and then
add in text as you would a word processor:
Hit Save. You can add other blocks from the other tabs to populate your page with
content.
m. When finished adding content, hit Done. You have now created a Page.

2. Organising your pages into a collection
a. As you can see, on this example Dashboard, when you go to the Portfolio tab and then
the Pages tab, you can see there are six pages
We are going to make three of these pages (Page 1, Page 2 and Page 3) into a
Collection.
b. To start making your Collection, go to the Collections tab – you can see there are no
collections here yet:
Click on the New Collection button.

c. Here you will edit your Title and Description, as well as select whether or not you want
navigation (a menu) for your pages. In this example, the Description is being left blank:
On the bottom, click on the Next: Edit Collection pages button.
d. Here you can edit what pages appear in your Collection.
Once again, be aware that if all of your pages are in collections, they will not turn
up as individual pages in the Share tab of the Portfolio tab.
Click on the Add Pages button.

e. You will receive a message saying that the pages were added to your collection.
Here you can rearrange the order in which the pages appear by using the small up
( ) or down ( ) arrows to reorder your pages. You can also remove pages from you
collection:
When finished, hit the Done button.
f. You will see that there is now one collection here:

g. To go to your collection, click on the title of your collection – it is also a link and will take
you straight to your collection:
As you can see the navigation tabs are in the correct order.
