ADJUSTABLE MONITOR MOUNT
Understanding customers’ needs is important to us. That is
why our LCD carts feature an adjustable mount, one that allows
the monitor to be moved closer in or farther away and tilted
up or down for optimal viewing. This design benefits bifocal
wearers or anyone with end-of-day eyestrain and ensures that
the critical data you work with is easy for you to see. One simple
adjustment is all it takes to reduce overhead glare and keep
eyestrain to a minimum. The monitor can be folded forward
to keep confidential information out of view. Folding the monitor forward also makes it easier to
maneuver the cart, because it provides the operator with a clear line of sight.
FULL SIZE KEYBOARD
While other cart manufacturers provide only a single-centered
rail for their keyboards, our design includes precision ballbearing rails on both sides (right and left) of the keyboard and
mouse tray for increased stability. Our retractable keyboard
tray, which glides easily into position, has a full extension slide
with detent-out stop to prevent it from moving while you work.
It measures approximately 17.9”W x 7.25”D x 1.375”H and accommodates a full-size keyboard. Available keyboard options
include negative-tilt models for more comfortable data entry. We’ve also provided a separate mouse
surface that measures approximately 6.25”W x 7”D and can be used on either the right-hand or lefthand side of the cart and stored under the keyboard tray during transport or when not in use.
WRAP-AROUND STEERING
Howard Medical’s HI-Care has the industry’s only true wraparound handle—a 270-degree, ergonomically designed handle
that is readily accessible from multiple sides of the cart, making it
an easy reach for busy healthcare workers. And while the HI-Care
can be moved easily with one hand, our exclusive wrap-around
handle provides increased leverage for even greater maneuverability, turning cart navigation and transport into an almost effortless task.

WORK SURFACE
Ergonomically designed for maximum usability, the HI-Care work
surface is one of the largest in the medical industry, measuring
approximately 20.6”W x 16.2”L. It is highly resistant to scratching
and fingerprints, and can be disinfected easily with alcohol, quatbased cleaners, AHP, or chlorine bleach solutions or completely
removed for autoclave disinfection. Additional work surface
features include a raised outer edge, ideal for capturing spills
and preventing items from falling onto the floor, and a precise-fit,
translucent overlay (optional) that serves as a protective barrier for surface paperwork, keeping it visible but separate from overlapping work processes. For added security, the HI-Care work surface can
be locked to safeguard your notebook or tablet from theft and unauthorized access.
HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
We realize that not everyone is a standard height, and we kept that
in mind when designing the HI-Care cart. Our carts can be raised or
lowered easily so that individual caregivers can find the ergonomically
perfect working height, whether sitting or standing. The work
surface can be raised to a height of approximately 46.50” or lowered
to approximately 31.75” with the touch of a button. This height
adjustment range accommodates nearly 95% of human statures.
KEY FEATURES
• One touch adjustment
• Soft start/soft stop
• Extremely quiet motor
• Power to lift accessories
• Maximum reliability
EASE OF MOVEMENT
Moving our HI-Care carts is an almost effortless task. Thanks to their dual-wheel, low friction, and
precision ball-bearing casters, it takes only minimal effort to move one of our HI-Care carts. The cart’s
open base sits on four durable casters that swivel 360 degrees (front casters have locking capabilities).
CABLE & CORD MANAGEMENT
Designed for convenience and ease of operation, our carts’
exclusive cable management solution includes 6 AC outlets, with
plenty of room for power adapters, and a durable, two-prong,
molded hook for neat storage of the power cord.

LITHIUM POWER SUPPLY
We didn’t create Lithium Iron Phosphate technology, but we were the first to engineer it onto
medical carts. We recognized the performance and environmental benefits that could be derived
from utilizing this type of rechargeable battery. To start with, Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries
keep medical carts powered-up longer—much longer; in fact, their cycle life is up to 10 times that
of most SLA batteries. Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries are also smaller and weigh less than their
counterparts, and they have the advantage of being virtually maintenance-free.

cart size; this, combined with an open-wheel
design that allows for normal-stride walking

to transport and maneuver. In addition, ample
space between the two front casters leaves
room enough for clinicians to sit or stand at the
cart while working.

BATTERY FUEL GAUGE
The easy-to-read battery fuel gauge, which is located on the
back left-hand side of the work surface, gives the user realtime updates on the status of the battery. An audible alarm
signals when the cart battery’s power reserve is low and can be
temporarily disabled using the alarm silence button.
TOOL-LESS BATTERY REPLACEMENT
Functional simplicity is at the core of our cart design. As a result, many of the tasks related to cart
usage require only a basic introduction and minimal instruction; changing the battery in a Howard
Medical cart is one such task. It’s a quick and easy, no-tool process that takes less than 2 minutes—a
cutting-edge design that saves you time, exclusively from Howard Medical.
MANUFACTURING
At Howard-Medical, we understand the importance of quality, particularly
as it relates to healthcare applications, and are certified for ISO-14001: 2004
and ISO-9001: 2008 compliance. Emphasis on medical cart quality begins
at design and follows throughout the manufacturing, inspection, and testing
processes, all of which are performed at our 750,000 sq ft, state-of-the-art plant facility in the U.S. This
attention to detail and the use of only the highest quality components and materials ensures that our
carts meet or exceed our customers’ requirements, certified to UL60601-1 and CSA-C22.2
No. 601.1 standards.

CLINICAL ASSISTANT
software is designed for use with Power Display software,
and provides the clinician with vital information about the
cart power system, on-screen in a concise, non-intrusive
manner. The primary feature of our Clinical Assistant
software is to provide a 10-step battery-level indicator,
along with a charge status indicator. This software also
provides messaging logic to guide the clinician in proper
charging procedures.
POWER DISPLAY
provides the user with a browser-based, graphical, onscreen interface for displaying various parameters of
the med cart power system. Functionality includes data
display, data and event logging, event-based alarms, and
graceful shutdown capability.
POWER SYSTEM REMOTE
MONITORING (PSRM)
is an enterprise class application that provides for remote
monitoring and configuration of the entire family of
battery powered carts from Howard Medical. Using the
auto-discover feature you can connect to and manage all
of your carts throughout multiple facilities from a single
console or from any computer with an Internet connection.
Some of the features include mapping carts to particular
locations, custom dash boards, real-time alerts based
on custom alarm levels, graphical representation of cart
status, and support for extensive reporting and data
mining of historical power system performance.

provides the user with a PC-based graphical, on-screen
interface that provides access to and allows configuration
of the locked storage compartments on your cart. It
allows local management of user IDs and locking system
settings, and provides a link to our remote management
tools.
MED MANAGER
provides remote management capabilities to carts
running Med Display software. This function gives an
administrator the ability to manage user lists and locking
system settings on any number of medical carts within a
specified network.
MED AUDIT
maintains a record of each time the cart is locked and
unlocked. The electronic locking system can store up to
500 event records internally, which can be off-loaded to
the local computer at predetermined intervals, ensuring
that events are not lost. Using the Med Audit tools within
Med Manager, these records can be retrieved from the
cart’s computer and stored in the Med Manager database
for subsequent review. The data can be viewed on-screen
in custom formatted reports, printed, or exported to
external files.

Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries offer a powerful combination of
performance, safety, cost, reliability, and environmental characteristics. When paired with Howard Medical’s PowerMax150 power
system, each 40Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate battery can deliver up to
2500 cycles (about 10 times that of most SLA batteries) down to 80%
capacity at 100% depth of discharge per cycle; the power system has
a 20A charger, 150VA pure sine wave output, and delivers up to 85%
output efficiency. The long cycle life of this battery (may never have to
be changed) lowers total cost of ownership to about 50% that of SLA
solutions over the life of the cart. The high availability (80%+) provided
by our power system means that your cart is ready when you are.

MOBILE PRODUCT SPECIALIST (MPS)
We commonly refer to this as the “man in the van plan.” Simply put, this is an investment into the
future of your project. After all, you may be potentially adding hundreds of new pieces of equipment
on-site and no new staff to take care of them. What an MPS does is
provide a large multi-facility medical entity the reassurance
of knowing that there will be minimal downtime
associated with the carts and at the same time,
comfort in knowing that if a cart ever does
require repairs, it will be done as quickly and
as thoroughly as possible by a certified Howard
Medical Mobile Product Specialist.
A Howard Medical Mobile Product Specialist (MPS) will be assigned exclusively to the medical facility
to provide 2nd Business Day remedial maintenance. MPS will keep a daily log of maintenance tickets
for medical facility review. The medical facility may be involved in assignment of tasks of the MPS at
their discretion so long as all duties outlined in the Statement of Work are met and such tasks do not
exceed 8 hours in a given 24-hour period. Howard Medical will provide the MPS with a van equipped
and continually stocked with a mobile inventory of parts. All insurances and vehicle costs will be
covered by Howard Medical
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
All carts whether they’re Howard Medical’s or not, need preventive maintenance (PM) and occasional
battery replacement to ensure your cart is ready and able when patient care calls. We’ve assembled a
65-point PM checklist that hits everything from cart, to power supply, to computing device, and peripherals to ensure your carts are in “tip-top” shape. Anything we find during our PM that falls under warranty and
requires fixing, we’ll take care of while we’re on-site. If
the item happens to not fall under warranty, we’ll let you
know that too so that you can make arrangements for
repairs ahead of time. When we’ve completed our PM,
we’ll provide you with a report on each cart, the issues
we addressed, and some pointers and recommendations
for keeping your carts running at maximum functionality.

CABINETS
Ideal for hospitals, wall-mounted computer cabinets provide the optimal solution in patient rooms for
bedside charting and patient education, without taking up valuable workspace. They enable personal
interaction between clinician and patient, improving accuracy and contributing to a more secure environment in which to discuss sensitive information. Strategically placed wall-mounted computing stations
increase data efficiency by providing more access points for readily available data, and convenient
storage features add to their usefulness by allowing quick access to stored equipment and medical
supplies. Make life easier with healthcare solutions from Howard Medical.
ARMS
Make patient care easier with healthcare solutions from Howard Medical. Strategically placed armmounted computing stations increase efficiency by providing more access points for readily available
data. Howard Medical’s arm mounts include solutions for both patient rooms and high traffic areas,
helping clinicians improve workflow and provide better patient care. Using the easy height adjustment
feature allows clinicians to find their perfect working height and the side-to-side panning capabilities of
the keyboard and display allow clinicians to interact with their patients while entering data. When not in
use, workstations fold up tight against the wall to optimize space.

sound design
make our HI-Med
