The DEWE-214 was designed specifically for invehicle testing. It starts with the wide-range DC
power input (8~30VDC), and its amazingly small
size and convenient form factor. Anchor points on
the sides make it easy to strap down in a moving

MOBILE display option
The MOB-DISP-17 (option) is a great add-on for
any portable DEWE system, especially for invehicle applications. This is a ruggedized display
with a capacitive touchscreen (supports multi-touch
software!) that’s brighter than ever.
And we built three USB 2.0 interfaces into it, so you
can put the 214 in the trunk, and mount the MOB
display up front. Use the USBs to connect memory
sticks, or your keyboard, etc. Get the optional kit for
the suction cups and longer cables for in-vehicle

DEWE-214-STG model with 1, 20, or 100 Hz GPS
The DEWE-214-STG model features our most FLEXIBLE analog inputs, based on the MDAQ-STG conditioner. It can
natively handle any kind of bridge or strain gage, with completion for half and quarter bridge sensors and various wiring
methods, amp and sensor balance, and so much more. You can input ±10V directly. Using our MSI-BR series adapters
you can also input IEPE accels and mics, charge sensors, thermocouples (J, K, T, C), RTD sensors (Pt100, 200, 500,
1000), voltages up to ±200V. We also offer ADAP series adapters for 4-20 mA sensors and simple BNC adapters.
Choose the GPS version you want, with 1, 20 or 100 Hz sensor.
The STG series is the more flexible of the two basic DEWE-214 models, and you can upgrade it to 16 channels!

DEWE-214-ACC model with 1, 20, or 100 Hz GPS
Choose the DEWE-214-ACC model if you will be doing mostly IEPE inputs for noise, shock and vibration testing. There
are eight 80 kHz bandwidth inputs with TEDS support, which provide the constant current excitation needed by IEPE
accelerometers and microphones. You can input ±10V, ±2V, ±0.5 or ±0.1V directly. All of the analog inputs are on
convenient BNC connectors. Maximum analog sample rate is 204.8 kS/s/ch. Anti-aliasing filtering is standard, of course.
Choose the GPS version you want, with 1, 20 or 100 Hz sensor.
Both DEWE-214 models include two synchronous SUPER counters, which are ideal for tachs, tape, and RPM sensors as
well as encoders – and offer adjustable trigger levels, and input ranges beyond TTL. In addition, there are 8 TTL digital
inputs (ideal for measuring simple switch closures and "discrete" signals) and 8 TTL digital outputs (great for alarm
outputs, a standard software feature). All digital lines are available on the standard DB37 connector on the front panel.
LEMO connectors for the counters are available as an option (ORION-CNT2-LEMO).
Expansion via Ethernet
The NET expansion is a fantastic way to
combine two or more DEWE instruments to
one multichannel system. Each instrument
must have installed hardware option ORIONSYNC and software option DS-OPT-NET.
Synchronization of all units is required too.
There are two ways of synchronization: First
is a simple cable connection for distances up
to 200 m, second one is GPS- or IRIG-CLOCK
which is useful for long distances when a
cable connection is not possible. DS-OPTNET software offers full remote setup, online
data transfer up to the limit of the network
connection and offline data transfer between
the instruments.
User tip: The NET expansion also distributes
the data processing load among multiple
computers, each of which can store data at full
(20Hz or 100Hz)

DEWE-214 interfaces
Two High-speed CAN BUS interfaces
Both DEWE-214 models feature two high-speed CAN
BUS interfaces compatible with the CAN 2.0B and
J1939 protocols. In the software you can import DBC
setup files, or create your CAN setup manually if you
like. There is a convenient "listen" function that scans
the bus and identifies any messages that are coming
across, and adds them to the list. It's easy to configure
the channels that are contained within each message by
bit range, name, scaling factor, and engineering units.
Everything gets saved into the setup file.
Configuring the channels within each message couldn’t be much easier.
CAN channels are just like any others in your Dewetron system. You can display
them, record them, use them in MATH, trigger from them... no restrictions.
OBD II interface capabilities
If you want to read the OBD II messages, there is a
software option for that. Simply configure either or both
CAN ports for OBD II, and the software will do the rest.
The software even includes an automatic listing of the
basic codes, already set up for you.
When OBD II has been configured for a CAN interface, these standard channels
are set up for you automatically. Just turn on the ones you want to record.
Use CAN for channel expansion, too
Dewetron CAN BUS interfaces can also be used
for connecting CAN based sensors, including our
own CPAD2 series 8 channel signal conditioners for
thermocouples, voltages, currents, and RTDs. See the
CONDITIONERS section for a full listing of the CPAD2
modules that are available today. We even put power on
two of the unused pins of the connector, so that we can
directly power our CPAD2 modules. This conveniently
eliminates the need to provide power to them separately.
But virtually any standard CAN output device can be
used with our CAN interfacess, including non-Dewetron
brand sensors and signal conditioners.

Dewetron famously invented the use of common web
cameras with data acquisition systems nearly 10 years
ago. You can connect nearly every standard DirectX
video camera in the world (one maximum) to your
DEWE-214 and start recording video in sync with your
other data right away.
Or, for better performance, choose our DEWE-CAMGIGE-50 camera, and ethernet GIG-E camera!

Inertial sensors for dynamic testing
We offer two inertial sensors for a wide variety of vehicle
test applications. There is a relativelyy inexpensive
XSENS MTi-G sensor that you can hold in your hand, for
basic applications.
But for high-end applications such as CAPS, driveability,
brake testing, etc. we offer the ADMA system from
GeneSys, completely integrated with your DEWE system.
See the SENSORS section for further details about both
inertial sensors.
