LED 3 rd Brake Lamp with Cargo Lights (Hard Wiring Instructions)

1. Please reference the table below to determine where the wires coming out of the back of your new RECON LED 3 rd Brake Lamp are to be connected on your truck:

Connect to positive 12V for cargo light

Connect to ground for cargo light

Connect to positive 12V for brake light

Connect to ground for brake light

2. There are two options to properly connect the RECON LED 3 rd Brake Lamp to your O.E. wires if you do not want to simply plug the RECON LED 3 rd Brake Lamp into your O.E. plug or if after plugging it in the RECON LED 3 rd brake light doesn’t work properly:

Option 1: Cut off your O.E. connector plug, and connect the wires of your new RECON LED 3 rd

Brake Lamp to your O.E. wires as depicted in the chart above.

Option 2: If you want to retain your O.E. connector plug, you must splice the wires a few inches before the O.E. connector plug by peeling back the O.E. wire covering/insulation.

4. If your vehicle has only 3 wires going into your O.E. connector plug, then please connect the

No.2 and No.4 wires coming out of the back of your new RECON LED 3 rd Brake Lamp together with your common O.E. ground.

Quick Wire Cross Reference for 1994-1998 Installation

#1 RECON Wire Connects to GM Blue & White

#2 RECON & #4 RECON Wires Connect to GM Black

#3 RECON Wire Connects to GM White opposite GM Blue & White

**Leave the GM White opposite GM Black not connected**

Basically this is the wire configuration you must perform to get the light to work properly:

88-98 “Old” Style Chevy/GMC Wire Cross Reference

RECON Plug Wire Configuration black & brown wires are grounds (splice these together) white wire is cargo light positive red wire is 3rd brake light positive

GM Plug Wire Configuration black wire is ground white wire is hot all the time (leave this wire disconnected) blue wire is positive cargo light yellow or white wire is positive third brake light
