This carpet washer is intended for household use only and NOT for commercial or industrial use.
When using the carpet washer, basic safety precautions should always be observed, including the following:

1. Do not leave the carpet washer unattended when plugged in. Unplug the appliance from the socket when
not in use.
2. Only use the carpet washer indoors.
3. Turn off all controls on the carpet washer before disconnecting or connecting from the mains supply.
4. Always unplug the carpet washer before connecting or disconnecting the hose and accessories.
5. Always unplug the carpet washer before carrying out any maintenance.
6. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
7. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understands the hazards involved.
8. Cleaning and maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
9. The appliance should only be used as described in the quick start guide and in the accompanying user guide.
10. Only Vax recommended solutions and attachments should be used with this appliance.
11. Do not use this carpet washer if it has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped into water. Do not use
this carpet washer with a damaged cord or plug. If the supply cord is damaged return the carpet washer to a
Vax Authorised Service Agent or contact our customer care centre.
12. Do not pull or carry this appliance by the cord. Do not use the cord as a handle, close a door on the cord or pull
the cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run the carpet washer over the cord. Keep the cord away from
heated surfaces.
13. Do not handle the plug or the carpet washer with wet hands.
14. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of the body away from openings and moving parts.
15. Do not pick up with the machine any hot coals, cigarette butts, ash, matches or any hot, smoking or burning objects.

16. Do not pick up with the machine any flammable or combustible materials (lighter fluid, petrol, kerosene etc.)
or use the machine in the presence of explosive liquids or vapours.
17. Do not pick up with the machine, baking soda or any other powder-based carpet refresher or deodoriser.
18. Do not pick up with machine plaster dust, concrete dust or any other building or vitreous materials.
19. Do not use the machine on areas where there may be harmful or toxic material (chlorine, bleach, ammonia,
drain cleaner etc.)
20. Store the carpet washer in a cool, dry area.
21. Only use SAA-approved 10amp extension cords. Non-approved cords may overheat. Care should be taken
to arrange the cord so that that cord cannot be tripped over.
22. Do not carry the appliance while it is switched on.
23. To prevent dirty water from running into the motor, do not hold the appliance upside-down or lay it on its side.
Use the appliance in a normal cleaning position.
24. Do not use without all water tanks and solution tanks in place.
25. Do not use the carpet washer unless the carpets have been dry vacuumed thoroughly first.

CAUTION: The carpet washer is a very powerful unit. Before plugging the cord into the electrical socket,
make sure all controls on the unit are turned off. Hold the carpet washer firmly when starting and in use.

Pre-treating your carpet before washing will help to remove stubborn stains. Do not saturate your carpet.
IMPORTANT: Before setting the machine up to wash, ensure the clean water tank is rinsed
thoroughly of pre-treatment solution.

IMPORTANT: If the hose or tools are blocked, switch off the carpet washer and remove the
blockage(s) before re-starting your machine.
CAUTION: Always switch off and unplug the carpet washer from the electrical socket before
assembling, filling and emptying the clean water tank, emptying the dirty water tank, or before
connecting/disconnecting the attachments.
Looking after your machine
Locate the locking pin and press in points
shown to remove.
Insert handle and re-fit locking pin.
Locking pin will ‘click’ when in place.
Pour required dose of cleaning solution into
a measuring jug (approx 40ml per 1 litre of water).
Mix solution with warm water (40 oC max) and
pour into tank.
1. Align pre treatment wand tube to
connector. Push in and turn connector to
secure. Turn machine on.
2. Press button and spray evenly onto
desired areas and leave solution to work
for 10-15 minutes.
Pour required dose of cleaning solution into
a measuring jug (approx 40ml per 1 litre of water).
Mix solution with warm water (40 oC max) and
pour into tank.

How to use
Operating your carpet washer
IMPORTANT: Carpets should be dry vacuumed thoroughly before pre-treating and washing.

Operating your pre-treatment wand
Recline the machine. The brushbar will rotate
when the machine is reclined.
Press trigger to release solution. For best
results apply solution on the forward stroke
and release the trigger to recover the solution
on the backward stroke.
Before storing your machine, empty and rinse out clean and
dirty water tanks and leave to air dry before replacing. You can
remove the handle and tool caddy for convenient storage.

Turn machine on.
IMPORTANT: Cleaning and replacing filters maintains optimum
cleaning performance. Vax recommends that your filters should
be checked, cleaned and replaced periodically. If your filters
are washable make sure that they are completely dry before
inserting them back into the carpet washer.
