Stellaris Workshop Tool Installation:
The following instructions will step you through the installation of Code Composer
Studio 4.1, StellarisWare® and the LM Flash Programmer. Please follow the steps
carefully. Note that you will need a my.TI account to download this software.
You will need to supply a laptop computer for the class with the following:

4G of free hard disk space
512M or greater installed RAM
A free USB port
Step 1: Download and Install Code Composer Studio 4.1
1. Click on this link to begin the Code Composer Studio download process.
Download the latest production DVD image of Code Composer Studio. You will
need to agree to the export conditions and you will be emailed a link to the
installation zip file. Click on the link and save the zip file to your desktop. Unzip
the file into a folder on your desktop named Setup CCS. You can delete the zip
file and the Setup CCS folder when the installation has completed.
2. Disconnect any evaluation board that you may have connected to your PCs USB
port(s).
3. Open the Setup CCS folder on your desktop and double-click on the file named
setup_CCS_n.n.n.n.exe.
4. Follow the instructions in the Code Composer Studio installation program. Select
the Platinum Edition for installation when the Product Configuration dialog
window appears. Click Next.
5. In the Choose ISA dialog, make sure that only the Stellaris Cortex-M3 MCU
and ARM checkboxes are selected. Click Next.
6. In the Select Components dialog, uncheck the Target Content and Emulators
checkboxes. Click Next. The installation should take less than 10 minutes to
complete.
Step 2: Download and Install StellarisWare®
1. Click on this link and then click the Get Software button. You will need to agree
to the export conditions and you will be emailed a link to the installation zip file.
Click on that link and save the installation file to your desktop. After the
installation is complete, you can delete this file.
2. Double click on the SW-LM3S-nnnn.exe file and, for the purposes of the
workshop, accept the default installation location when prompted. The
installation program will copy the StellarisWare software into C:\StellarisWare
and make no other changes to your machine. All boards and all IDE’s are
included with this installation.
Step 3: Download and Install the LM Flash Programmer
1. Click on this link and then click the Utilities link near the top of the page. Click
on the Get Software button for LMFlashProgrammer-nnnn. You will need to
agree to the export conditions and you will be emailed a link to the installation zip
file. Click on that link and save the installation file to your desktop.
2. Unzip the LMFlashProgrammer-nnnn.zip file to your desktop. The unzipped
filename is LMFlashProgrammer.msi. After the installation is complete, you
can delete both files. Double-click on LMFlashProgrammer.msi and click your
way through the installation procedure. The process will take less than a minute to
complete.
Step 4: Download and Install the Java Runtime Engine
1. Click on this link and then click the Windows 7/XP/Vista/2000/2003/2008
Offline link in the Windows section of the page. Save the installation file to your
desktop. You can delete this file after the installation is complete.
2. Follow the prompts to install the Java software package.
Step 5: Download and Install the Windows Oscilloscope Application
1. Click on this link and then click the Miscellaneous link near the top of the page.
Click on the Get Software button for SW-USB-win-nnnn. When you agree to
the export conditions, you will see a Download button (you will also be emailed a
link to the installation file). Click on the Download button and save the
installation file to your desktop. After the installation is complete, you can delete
this file.
2. Follow the prompts to install the software package. For the purposes of this
workshop, use the default installation location. The shortcut to start the USB
Oscilloscope program is in the Start menu under All Programs Æ Texas
Instruments Æ Stellaris Æ USB Examples Æ Stellaris Oscilloscope.
