Installation Instructions
1. Locate the two ferrules included in the plastic bag.
2. Using two wrenches, placing one on an end-fitting compression nut and the other on its hex nut, turn the end-fitting compression nut in a counterclockwise direction and fully remove it from the end of the trap. Remove the brass plug.
3. Insert the tubing through the back of the inlet end-fitting compression nut. Slide the ferrule over the tubing with the tapered
section of the ferrule facing away from the nut.
4. Insert the tubing into the trap fitting until the tubing rests firmly on the shoulder inside the fitting.
5. Tighten the inlet end-fitting compression nut finger tight.
6. Using two wrenches, place one on the inlet end-fitting compression nut and the other on its hex nut and tighten the end-fitting
compression nut approximately an additional 3/4-turn for the 1/8-inch tubing and approximately one full turn for the 1/4-inch tubing.
7. Repeat steps 2-6 for the outlet side of the trap.
8. Pressurize the system and leak check with Restek’s Electronic Leak Detector (cat.# 22655).
DO NOT use liquid leak detectors.
Refill Instructions
1. Turn off the gas. Using two wrenches, placing one on an end-fitting compression nut and the other on its hex nut, turn the
end-fitting compression nut in a counterclockwise direction and fully remove it from the end of the trap. Free the trap from the
tubing, but do not remove the nut from the tubing.
Inlet
2. Let the pressure bleed off to atmospheric pressure.
3. To remove the trap's black end cap, place a wrench on the hex nut above it and gently turn the fitting counterclockwise. (This
will also rotate the end-cap, allowing it to spin off for easier filling of the trap.)
4. Empty the contents of the trap into a convenient container. (If toxic organics are trapped on this material, ensure that proper
disposal procedures are followed.)
5. Refill the trap with the new carbon media (cat.# 20626).
6. Screw the end cap back onto the trap, making certain that cross threading does not occur, and hand tighten.
7. Reinstall the trap to its original position by attaching the end-compression nuts and tubing back onto the trap and gently
tighten until snug and leak free.
8. Pressurize the system and leak check with Restek’s Electronic Leak Detector (cat.# 22655).
DO NOT use liquid leak detectors.
