They inform you in detail about the mounting, commissioning, operating principles and operation of the ComLog module. Keep the mounting and operating instructions with the unit or file with other technical documentation in the system documentation. Operating principle The ComLog module in combination with one or more KEMPER KTS-ThermoBox(es) serves as the interface to upstream building automation systems. For that purpose, the ComLog module is linked with the bus cable of the KTS controller units. An additional ComLog module function is logging the system data and the actual values. The ComLog module has an SD card slot to accomplish that. 2 List of symbols Note: Useful information Warning Warning of electric shock Attention: Imminent danger Maintenance: Maintenance/Servicing Safety instructions Solely trained specialists are permitted to make the electrical connections of the ComLog module (e.g., a qualified electrician). While doing so, make sure the following instructions are followed. Flawless operation can only be guaranteed when the information in these mounting instructions are taken into consideration. Application range The ComLog module is intended solely for use in combination with KEMPER KTSThermoBoxes. Installation location Install the device solely in dry rooms. Ambient temperatures in the mounting location > 40°C are prohibited. KTS-ComLog module 1 Warning: Only trained electricians are permitted to connect the system to mains supply. Mortal danger by electric shock. 3 Technical information 3.1 Dimensions and layout The ComLog module is structured as in the following: 2 1 3 4 Figure 3.1 Structure ComLog module 5 (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) Housing cover Housing base Power pack 230V AC/ 24V DC ComLog with SD card sloth with SD memory card (1 GB) Modbus interface 3.2 Scope of delivery Included in the scope of delivery Housing (IP 65) ComLog module SD card (1 GB) Power pack (230V AV / 24V DC) 3.3 Technical Data Technical Data ComLog module housing Max. ambient temperature [°C] 40 Width [mm] 120 Height [mm] 222 Depth [mm] 162 Weight [kg] 1 Material ABS Protection class IP 65 KTS-ComLog module 2 Technical Data ComLog Power pack 45 x 99 x 115 22.5 x 90 x 100 0.15 0.19 Polyamide / VO - 9-26 DC 85-264 AC Frequency [Hz] - 47-63 Voltage output [V] - 24 ± 1% 0.1 0.35 - 1 Protection class IP 20 IP 20 Permissible operating temperature [°C] 0-60 0-60 External bus Internal bus Height x Width x Depth [mm] Weight [kg] Material Voltage input [V] Current consumption [I] Current output [I] Technical Data Medium RS485 semiduplex Parameters 9600 baud, 8N1 Protocol 4 Modbus-RTU -Slave- Attention: For purposes of maintenance and repair, keep a minimum clearance of 200mm in all directions. Mounting and installation 4.1 General The device is electrically wired. 4.2 Preparation First check the supplied materials for their completeness. 4.3 Mounting Look for a suitable mounting position and fasten the housing at the intended installation location. Subsequently connect the controllers of the KTS-ThermoBox(es) to each other via bus cable and to the ComLog module as illustrated in the following figure. To do that, you need to remove the upper part of the housing. (It must be possible to cutoff the 230V mains feed line through an emergency switch outside of the heating plant room (only applicable to plants > 50kW!) KTS-ComLog module 4 Warning: Only authorised specialists are permitted to connect the ComLog module. Danger of death if the controller to the 230V mains feed line is connected incorrectly. The log file will be configured by the Kemper service technician during commissioning and then transferred to the SD card. Based on the correspondingly configured file, the ComLog module creates a CSV file for every day with the saved measurements in the selected storage interval. The CSV files can be copied and opened and processed, for instance with Excel. After copying, the CSV files have to be deleted on the SD card. To read the data from the ComLog module, remove the upper part of the housing and take out the memory card. KTS-ComLog module 6 Note: Save excel files and delete files from SD card But ATTENTION: The correspondingly configured log file in the DAT format must remain on the SD card; otherwise the data will not be saved. 4.7.2 Transfer SD card DAT file and check Take SD card from ComLog module Copy DAT file from computer to SD card Check internal recording (Recommendation KEMPER: 10 sec.) Insert SD card into ComLog module Check whether SD card’s recording Take SD card from ComLog module (after approx. 10 minutes) Read-out SD card with computer Attention: Don’t use other cards!. Check temperature records Check flow rate records Figure 4.4 Extract of a ComLog file KTS-ComLog module 7 Configuring the log file: The configuration of the log file is explained below using the example of a KTSThermoBox as 2x cascade: Open the log file with the name DAT in MS-EXCEL. In Cell A1, state the intervals in which the values will be saved. In this example, a storage rate of one second is stipulated. If you want to save every 10 seconds, for instance, replace the 1 with a 10. As delivered: Time interval changed to 10 seconds: In the column under ModBus ID, select the corresponding ThermoBox from which to read out the data. Modbus ID 1 activates the master unit, and with ModBus ID 2, the slave unit is activated. With this configuration, all temperature values and volume flows of both cascade units are saved. Additional values can also be saved, or, if they are not necessary, they can be deleted. The data points, register addresses and the related settings can be taken from the KTS ModBus data-point list. KTS-ComLog module 8 5 Maintenance and repair The measurements should be downloaded from the SD card in regularly scheduled intervals, but at a minimum interval of 3 months.
