General Setting for the iPad and the iPad 2 are very similar. Locking iPad cover and
the cameras are the biggest differences. The iPad 2 allows you to connect to a
projector and display the desktop of the iPad. Apple TV adds even more no cables!!!

Notes - Note taking with a build in dictionary now! So, if I have to use it for note taking in
the classroom I do have a dictionary now.

Geography trips.
Photos - Photos can now be edited from the Camera Roll Adobe Photoshop Express is
still a favorite because it was the first free photo editing program we could use on the
iPad.
iTunes - It’s more than music checkout iTunes U! Wireless syncing with your devices
brand new with iOS 5. Create customized playlist to share with other devices on the
same network.
Videos - All of your videos from iTunes, downloaded or movies that you create for
flipping your classrooms are here. These to can be shared over the network too
Find My iPhone/ iPad / iPod Touch / Mac Computer - A great way to track down your
device.
(Keyboard Tricks) - Only a few but what time savers they are!
iBooks - Download from the iBookStore Create you own eBooks well as download PDF
or Books for the iBooks Store. There are also apps in the App Store that you can use to
create your own eBooks. On a Mac Computer users can create eBooks with Pages
which is a part of their iWorks suite. On a PC this can be done with either downloading
and using Open Office with plugins to create eBooks a website like www.2epub.com.
This online eBook converter will take up to 5 eBooks of various formats (doc, epub, fb2,

convert to text. The software adapts to your style of writing. WritePad allows documents
to be transferred wireless from “iDevice to iDevice”. Documents can easily be emailed,
tweeted, printed or posted to Facebook directly from WritePad.
Reference Apps
*Google Search Voice search by speaking into your device. The apps supports several
different languages. You can also see location results customized to where you are (e.g.
weather) or finding places nearby (e.g. ‘pizza’ or ‘movies’). Easy access to other
Google products like Maps, Gmail and Voice from the Apps tab. Google Goggles allows
you to search by taking a picture with your iPhone camera. The app uses image
recognition technology recognizes objects and returns relevant search results.

IReward - iReward is a fun and useful app. Use it with your spouse, kids, yourself, or

ArtikPix Children with speech issues can use ArtikPix to practice sounds and words at
home. For children with speech issues, ArtikPix offers an engaging way to practice
sounds and words at home. The app comes pre-loaded with a set of “th” sound
flashcards, however 21 decks of flash cards focusing on various sounds are available
for purchase of about $2.99 each. Children are prompted to practice the sounds which

*TED TED was founded in 1984 as a one-off event and the conference was held
annually from 1990 in Monterey, California. TED's early emphasis was largely
technology and design, consistent with a Silicon Valley center of gravity. The events are
now held in Long Beach and Palm Springs in the U.S. and in Europe and Asia, offering
live streaming of the talks. They address an increasingly wide range of topics within the
research and practice of science and culture. The speakers are given a maximum of 18
minutes to present their ideas in the most innovative and engaging ways they can.
