This machine should only be used for its intended purpose as described in this manual. Ensure that it is fully understood before operating. Machine vibration. Do not store items on the worktop of this machine, as minor machine vibration may dislodge them. A door interlock is fitted for safety. It prevents the door being opened when there is water in the drum or if the drum is turning, If the door will not open do not try to force it. Garments freated with flammable cleaning sprays or liquids, such as petrol, must not be put in this machine. Lighters and matches must not be left in pockets and NEVER use flammable liquids near the machine. Drum damage, As with all washing machines, coins or similar small metal objects can damage the drum. Hoover will not accept responsibility for damage caused by such items. Heavy items such as bath mats, cotton sheets and towels should not be washed on their own, they may cause excessive vibration and noise. Always wash them as part of a well balanced load. Dispensing devices used for concentrated washing powder and liquid detergent must be removed from the drum at the end of the wash. Glass fibre curtains should never be put in this machine. Skin irritation may occur if other garments are contaminated with the glass fibres. Faults, Do not continue to use this machine if it appears to be faulty. After use, Turn off the water supplies and remove the plug from the electricity supply. Always remove the plug before cleaning the appliance or attempting any maintenance task. Supply cord. If the supply cord on this appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cord which is only obtainable from your local Hoover Service Office or an authorised Hoover Dealer. Hoover Service. Emergency door opening The operation of the machine may be interrupted by a power failure, If the machine stops and there is no water in the drum, press the door open button and remove the load. However, 1f there 1s water left in the drum the door cannot be opened. DO NOT attempt to force open the door. To remove the load proceed as follows: l. Switch off and remove the plug from the electricity supply. 2. Pull out the machine so that the back is accessible, 3. Unclip the drain hose from the back panel and lower the end into a bucket. The water will drain out. 4. WARNING! THE WATER MAY 5 BE VERY HOT 18 When the bucket becomes full raise the end of the drain hose above the top of the machine. This will stop the flow of water and enable the bucket to be emptied, | Repeat the procedure until the drum 1s completely empty. Clip the hose to the back of the machine. Press the door open button and remove the load, 1. Sort laundry according to wash care labels. 2. Put correct weight of laundry in machine (as shown in the Programs’ section) and close door. 3. Add detergent and fabric conditioner. 4. Select wash program. 5. Set function switches. 6. Turn on water supplies. 7. Plug in and switch on electricity supply. 8. Set ON/OFF switch to on. 9. When program ends set ON/OFF switch to off. 10. Open door and remove load. ll. Switch off and unplug. 12. Calling for service A charge will be made if the machine is found to be in working order or has not been installed in accordance with the installation instructions or has been used incorrectly. Before calling a Hoover Service Engineer run through the following checklist. 1. Has all the transit packing been removed? 2. Is there a working electricity supply to the machine? Check using another appliance such as a table lamp. 3. Has the machine been correctly jevelled using the adjustable feet? This will reduce vibration. 4, Are the water supplies turned on? Are the water inlet filters clean? 6. Has the machine been plumbed-in correctly? Check for any leaks. 7. Are the drain hose or fill hoses kinked? 8. Is the door fully closed? _ 9. Has the program been set correctly? 10. Has the machine paused at the 'Creaseguard' stage? 11. Has the drum stopped rotating for static heating of the water? 12. Have you checked that there is no water in the drum and 1t has stopped turning before trying to open the door? If there 1s any doubt, call your local Hoover Service Office for advice. 17 Cleaning the machine IMPORTANT: Always switch off and remove the plug from the electricity supply before cleaning this appliance, Wipe the inside of the drum, window and the folds in the door gasket. Leave the door open to dry, Wipe the cabinet and the glass window with a soft cloth, DO NOT use abrasive pads or cleaning agents, Soap drawer - removal and cleaning I. Pull out drawer as far as possible, 2. Gently but firmly pull out and remove the complete drawer. 16 Soap drawer Pull off siphon tube cover from fabric conditioner compartment, Wash the drawer and siphon tube under warm running water, Clean the guides and drawer housing, ; Re-fit the siphon tube cover. Re-position the drawer on its runners and slide in. This washing machine has been designed to take the maximum advantage of technical innovations. These will give you lower electrical running costs, lower water usage and lower detergent quantity requirements than conventional machines. All this has been achieved whilst maintaining, and in some instances further improving, wash performance. IMPORTANT: DO NOT upset the balance of this system by overdosing with detergent. Overdosing can lead to excessive foaming along with loss of performance and waste of money on detergent. ‘ The recommended amounts shown on ‘the detergent pack are for full loads in Hoover recommend: Ariel Ultra, Ariel Liquid, Bold 3, Ariel Automatic, Fairy Automatic and Fairy Automatic Liquid for washing. As a guide, 1 level tablespoonful = 16m, Concentrated powders and liquids should be put into the dispensing devices supplied by the manufacturer, NOT in the soap drawer. Function buttons Standard programs can be adapted to suit your particular needs by switching on one or more of the function buttons. Certain programs must have a function selected in order to operate. The Programs’ section in this book shows which functions are optional and which must be selected. Put the laundry into the machine. Refer to the 'Programs' section and do not put into the machine more than the maximum recommended wash load. Close the door ensuring that 1t latches correctly.
