4 Transportation/startup

4.1 Packaging

The lawn seeding-thatching machine tow roller is braced on the shipping pallet with retaining straps and is packaged with a carton sleeve and strapping.

4.2 Delivery scope

The completeness of the accessory parts must be checked when accepting the lawn seedingthatching machine tow roller.

Parts that were damaged or lost during shipping must be claimed at the shipping company.

4.3 Actions prior to startup

You will need the original connecting piece 4 of your single axle equipment 5 prior to coupling your lawn seeding-thatching machine tow roller.

Attach this and place the single axle tow, as well as the lawn seeding-thatching machine tow roller in a horizontal position, since a perfect operation of the seeding machine will only be guaranteed by this method. Now transfer the mounting holes, the connecting piece, onto the intended connecting plate 3 of the seeding machine.

Note: The connecting plate is height adjustable by simply turning it by 180 °.

Remove the connecting plate of the seeding machine 3 by pulling out the red locking pin 1. Drill the connecting plate according to its markings and screw it down with the connecting plate of your single axle equipment.

You will see two adjusting screws 2, which stabilize the steering of the single axle equipment or release it when tightening it on the inside of the connecting plate.

Note: We recommend wide tires.

Fold the running board 6 down for the startup, by first pulling it upward out of the guide and then folding it down. For transporting, pull it upward and carefully insert it in the guide again.

5 Operation

5.1 Working method of the lawn seeding-thatching machine tow roller

Seeding:

The seeding equipment has a shaft of low-wearing nylon brushes, which is resistant against small foreign objects and is not subject to jamming as in rigid models. The precise seed adjustment occurs on a large scale.

The seeds in the seed container are spread out evenly by the brush roller after opening the insert plate and therefore drop through the wind-protected seed outlet hopper.

Thatching:

The seed thatching machine is powered and operates with the cleaning cage without interruptions even on rocky, calcified or moist soil.

The seeds are placed into the soil through the roller behind the seed outlet. The roller is powered so that each individual pin makes an approximately 3 cm long raking movement (roller delay).

Many more seeds are placed into the soil by this, as if only the roller moves across the soil.

Rolling:

The smoothing roller presses the soil surface and the seeds evenly and the seeds therefore germinate more quickly. One benefit of the smoothing roller is the easy turning and steering of the machine without shifting the soil and clogging with rocks or clumps of earth. A disadvantageous soil compression is not anticipated at the weight of the RS-E by SEMBDNER.

Operation of the lawn seeding-thatching machine tow roller:

The angled shift lever for the seed outlet is located in the operator area. Open = vertical / Close = to

the right.

The shift lever opens the seed outlet during seeding;

The seed outlet must be closed when turning or driving in reverse.

If the seeding operation is interrupted in the seeding area, the seeding machine must be driven back approx. 15 cm prior to continuing the job, in order to prevent unseeded strips.

It must be noted that one path connecting to the other path are seeded, so that neither double seeded nor empty areas develop.

In order to eliminate this error source when using high quality laws seeds, half the seed quantity can be sown cross-wise. Seeding errors due to incorrect driving can be generally compensated by this working method.

!

When turning the machine and when driving backward in enclosed areas and on solid building parts: Always observe safety distances!

You can turn the seeding machine by cornering the single axle equipment or by lifting and turning the seeding machine over the handle of the two-wheeled tractor with a set connecting plate.

We recommend not driving very tight curves when the connecting plate is not set and with narrow tires, since you may leave deeper tire tracks, which cannot be compensated by the seeding machine.

Adjusting the thatching machine: The penetrating depth of the thatching machine can be adjusted and/or completely switched off by a control lever on the left side of the machine, and now, the machine can be used as only a roller.

The penetrating depth of the thatching machine should be no more than 2 cm during seeding. The thatching machine has 7 set adjusting options; however, it can be used by a floating method, if necessary.

The thatching machine should not be engaged when starting and first driving the tractor, so that the pins on the thatching machine will not be damaged.

Seed filling:

The lawn mixtures should be mixed thoroughly again prior to filling the seeds into the seeding machine, since they may have become dislodged and/or distributed to one side during the previous transport.

Adjusting the seed quantity:

The seed quantity per sqm is adjusted by the lockable control lever on the large scale at the front of the seed container. The numbers on the scale do not designate any details in grams, but are only reference points. The seed outlet is completely blocked at point 0.

Calculating the seed volume per sqm.

There are two options in which the seed collection container (attached above the roughing roller by 2 snap closures) has to be pushed onto the seed guide plate.

(1) Machine model RS 80 E

Machine model RS 100 E measure a section of 12.5 m and then start.

measure a section of 10.0 m and then start.

This always yields a seed volume for 10 sqm in the seed collection container; calculate and set the desired value by adjusting the seed scale accordingly.

(2) A V-belt pulley with a coupling is located on the seed container, which must be loosened according to the following shutoff description. Pull out the driving pin and prevent it from locking again by a quarter turn. On the opposite side of the machine,

18 revolutions

14 ½ revolutions for machine model RS 80 E for machine model RS 100 E are completed evenly with the crank on the agitator after opening the seed outlet.

This always yields a seed volume for 10 sqm in the seed collection container; calculate and set the desired value by adjusting the control lever of the seed scale accordingly.

Do not forget to latch the coupling again.

Please note that the V-belt pulley clutch locks again prior to seeding.

Following all maintenance, service and retrofitting jobs: Protective chain and belt

!

Covers must be reattached and the function of the safety switch must be checked!

All ball bearing are sealed and permanently greased and are therefore maintenance-free!

7 Accessories

Seeding thatching machine for golf course fairways:

The lawn seeding-thatching machine tow roller models RS 80 E and RS 100 E can be equipped with special seeding thatching machines to seed golf course fairways. These golf course thatching machines have essentially more pins and are best suited for working the lawn seeds into the substrate areas of the golf course fairways. The thatching machine rollers can be changed out very easily and in a relatively short time.
