Once connecting the all-in-1 card reader to a PC, there will be four “Removable Disk” icons shown on the explorer window. The disk drive letters (F: ~ I:) in the figure shown below are determined by the PC’s configuration which may varies. But the sequence of removable disk drive is fixed as (1) SD family (SD/MMC/miniSD/RS-MMC) (2) CF/MD (3)
SM (4) MS Family (MS/MS Pro/MS Duo/MS Pro Duo).

POWER CONSUMPTION CONSIDERATIONS:
The all-in-1 card reader is a USB device designed to work under bus-power mode, i.e., the power is drawn from USB port and no power adapter is required.
Though totally 500mA can be drawn from the USB host to supply the all-in-1 card reader, during the initial enumeration stage, only 100mA from the host is available. To expedite and ensure the correct USB enumeration process between PC and the all-in-1 card reader, it is recommended that the card reader is connected to a PC without all four sockets full with cards.
TROUBLE SHOOTING:
1. Besides showing 4 removable disk icons in the explorer’s window, when correctly connected, the all-in-1 card reader should generate a “USB Mass Storage Device” icon in the Hardware Device Manager of the OS.
If there is no “Removable Disk” icon shown in the explorer’s window and the “USB Mass
8
Storage Device” icon in Hardware Device Manager is shown with a “?” mark, it means the driver is not installed or not ready.
If the reader is full of cards in its four sockets while connecting to PC, remove the cards and try again. Or, follow the aforementioned procedure to install the driver and icon utility.
2. If there is no “Removable Disk” icon in the explorer’s window and the “USB Mass
Storage Device” icon in Hardware Device Manager is shown with a “!” mark (or just
“Unknown Device”), it means the reader is not recognized by the PC and maybe out of order. Disconnect the reader from the PC and connect it to PC again (reboot the PC and try again), if the phenomenon persists, the card reader is out of order.
3. If there is no icon showing up or any response from the PC once the card reader is connected, the USB host of the PC may be out of order. Reboot the PC and try again, if the phenomenon persists, the USB host of the motherboard needs repair.
4. Also, if possible, always use “Safely Remove Hardware” (icon on the lower right corner of Window’s task bar, the system tray area) option to stop the USB device first before detach it from a PC. This will protect both the USB device and the PC.
