Self Contained Units

The self contained unit is a complete air conditioning system. It is a compact system that can easily cool any given chamber.

This compact system includes all cool technical components that an air-conditioning unit requires to cool a single compartment, such as the seawater cooled condenser, compressor and evaporator.

This unit can be easily installed in the compartment without being entirely visible.

Included with this system are all basic necessary components such as the seawater pump and the thermostat. These items are required to secure a fully functioning air conditioning system.

An airco chiller unit is a system which can be installed in the engine compartment.

This chiller unit supplies a tubing circuit through the boat with cold water (glycol). This fluid flows through the fan coil units (through which air is flowing at the same time) and as a result it cools the surrounding areas.

This system can cool any given area, the temperature can be controlled and adjusted separately.

The sum of the capacity of the fan coil units, which have to function at the same time, results in the total capacity of the airco chiller unit.

A complete chiller system consists of the airco chiller unit, fan coil units and thermostats.

Clima Chiller Unit

A clima chiller unit is a system which can be installed in the engine compartment.

This chiller unit supplies a tubing circuit through the boat with cold or warm water (glycol). This fluid flows through the fan coil units (through which air is flowing at the same time) and as a result it can either cool down or heat up the surrounding areas.

This system can control the temperature in any given compartment separately.

The sum of the capacity of the fan coil units, which have to function at the same time, results in the total capacity of the clima chiller unit.

The integrated diesel heater is the main source for heating the system.

A complete chiller system consists of the clima chiller unit, fan coil units and thermostats.

Clima Inverter Chiller Units

A clima inverter chiller is a system which can be installed in the engine compartment.

This chiller unit will control its capacity according to what is being demanded in its surroundings due to the applied inverter compressor technology.

There is no current peak when switching on the compressor.

The chiller unit supplies cold/hot water (glycol) which flows through a tubing circuit and fan coil units, (through which air is flowing at the same time) and as a result it cools/heats the surrounding areas.

This system can cool any given area/cabin, and the temperature and airflow can be controlled and adjusted separately.

The sum of the capacity of the fan coil units, which have to function at the same time, results in the total capacity of the chiller unit.

Furthermore this system is equipped with a diesel heater, heat exchanger and boiler function. The heat exchanger can be connected to the cooling system of the main engine or generator, to heat the boiler or the heating system. The boiler function can be connected to the diesel heater or heat exchanger, and is able to function simultaniously with the cooling function.

A complete system consists of the chiller unit, fan coil units and thermostats.

Hydraulic Driven Chiller Units

The hydraulic driven chiller unit is a system which can be placed in the engine room.

This chiller unit is equipped with a hydraulic driven cool compressor, circulation pump and sea water pump (intergrated).

The system is driven by a hydraulic installation

(usually already present on board) and a battery supply of 24VDC.

This chiller unit supplies a tubing circuit through the boat with cold water (glycol). This fluid flows through the fan coil units (through which air is flowing at the same time) and as a result it cools the surrounding areas.

This system can cool any given area/cabin, and the temperature and airflow can be controlled and adjusted separately.

The sum of the capacity of the fan coil units, which have to function at the same time, results in the total capacity of the chiller unit.

A complete chiller system consists of the hydraulic driven chiller unit, fan coil units and thermostats.

Fan Coil Units

Fan coil units are the components in a heating and airconditioning system that ensures the transport of energy from hot or cold air.

The MAR-IX fan coil units are designed as compact as possible to minimize the installation space.

The ‘low profile’ (LP) range is designed to be installed in narrow spaces. For example vertically in cabinets or horizontally under seating areas.

The fans used on the units are specially selected to move a large volume of air at low noise to guarantee comfort.

Besides the standard fan coil units it is possible to provide the units with a 24VDC fan, an electric 3-way valve or electric heating.

Defroster Units

For safety reasons it is important that the windows in the wheelhouse are clean. To solve that problem, a series of defroster units has been developed and added to the assortment of

Mar-ix.

Just warming up the air to demist the windows, generally gives poor results, especially when the humidity in the wheelhouse is high because of rainy weather.

The defroster units are equipped with a dual heat exchanger which warms up the air first and cools and dehumidifies the air. This decreases the humidity which cleans the windows faster and better.

With the special developped control panel, the temperature and airflow can be set stepless.

With the ‘dry air mode’ activated, the defroster unit will dehumidify the air.

Depending on the available space, the defroster unit can be placed behind the ceiling, to blow the air on the windows from above or the unit can be placed in the stearing console, to blow the air on the windows from below.

Air Handling Units

New in the assortment of Mar-ix are the air handling units.

A serie, especially designed for marine application, produced with sustainable materials and a high quality finish.

Air handling units are applied to provide the ship with fresh, conditioned air.

The systems are avalaible in a large variety of configurations. For almost every ship we can supply a suitable system.

Mar-ix provides the unique possibility to apply a system with heat recovery. By placing a supply and return unit the energy in the used air can be recovered and added to the fresh air.

In this way a energy saving from 40% till 60% will be achieved. The total required energy to heat and cool the air will be decreased.

We can advise you with a full calculation to select a suitable system.

Electric Water Heaters

The Mar-ix electric heater gives the posibility to heat the fluid circuit of the heating system in a ship by electric power.

Unlike a diesel heater or a reverse cycle chiller unit, an electric heating unit is completely silent.

The desired temperature can be preset and the capacity can be controlled in two ways.

In the standard version, the temperature is limited and controlled by an internal thermostat.

If the liquid temperature is reaching the setpoint the heater will switch off, when the temperature has dropped to the preset level, the heater will switch on automatically.

As an option it is possible to expand the electric heater with an inverter system.

With this option, the output power of the heater will be automatically adjusted to the required capacity.

This achieves a constant heating capacity, resulting in a constant temperature of the liquid and equall loading of the electrical installation.

This reliable electric heater can also be used for frost protection of the ship.

The exceptional reliability is ensured because each individual electric heater is equiped with multiple elements. Failure of a single element will not affect the operation of the other elements.

The type of boat gives us, together with the outside dimensions an impression of the possibillities for our systems.

Use (pleasure / profession)

With this information we can choose a system that demands your needs, and at the same time will be as economical as possible. Every situation can be different. Do you wish cooling in all spaces at the same time or just in the saloon during the day and in the bedrooms at night? This information will decide the total capacity/size of the system.

System (cooling / cooling-heating)

For just cooling our self contained and airco chiller units will be all you need. When a cooling and heating system will be needed in warmer climates, than our reversed cycle chiller units will satisfy. The outside water temperature must stay above 5 to 7 °C for functioning. For climates like the Northern of Europe or other cold climates during the winter our clima chiller systems will be satisfy. For heating these systems are provided with an Eberspächer diesel heater. It is also possible to connect a excisting heating system onto our systems for an integral adjustment of the digital thermostat. Also existing radiators can be connected.

Place

Herewith we calculate an average of capacity: upper deck/ centre deck/ lower deck. Tothether with the choice of climate we can decide the needed capacity. An upper deck cabin with a lot of windows will ask more cooling capacity than a lower deck sleeping room.

Climate

To decide the needed capacity a cooling calculation will have to be made. The choice of climate (normal/tropical) together with the place (upper/mid or lower deck) will give us a calculation figure.

Approval

When your situation subscribes an approved system we can take care of this.

Battery/generator details

All our systems will need a 12 or 24v-dc connection for memory and control. The 230/400v-ac 50/60Hz connection to supply the compressors and pumps. Most of the generators are suitable for this power. If you do not have these details please give us the brand and type of the generator.
