3 Einführung

3.1 Allgemeine Informationen zum Thema Blutdruck

• Der Blutdruck schwankt im Tagesverlauf.

Die Normgrenzen für Erwachsene liegen bei einem

maximalen Blutdruckwert von 140/90 mmHg.

(Empf. zur Blutdruckmessung, Deutsche Liga zur Bekämpfung des hohen

Blutdrucks e.V., Heidelberg, 2001)

Er be-

3 Introduction

3.1 General information about blood pressure

• Your blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day.

A normal maximum for adults would be a blood pressure

of 140/90 mmHg.

(Recommendations for measuring blood pressure, German Society of

Hypertension, Heidelberg, 2001)

• If you monitor your blood pressure regularly, you will

discover more about your body’s reactions to external

influences (e.g. stress or exercise) and will be able

to develop a healthier lifestyle.

• Please take your PressureTel ™ with you to each doctor’s

appointment. In case your doctor does not have an inter-

net connected PC in his office, you may bring along a

printed version of your log book. Your doctor will be able

to evaluate your data and will thereby be in a better

position to care for your health.

3.2 Purpose

• PressureTel ™ is intended for home monitoring of blood

pressure and pulse.

• Never change your medication on the basis of results you

have obtained. The evaluation of the measurements and

the treatment based on them may only be carried out by

the attending physician.

Electromagnetic environment – guidelines

The PressureTel ™ blood pressure monitors use RF energy only for their internal function. Therefore, its RF emissions are very low and are not likely to cause any interference in nearby electronic equipment.

RF emissions CISPR 11 Class B The PressureTel ™ blood pressure monitors are suitable for use in all establishments, including domestic establishments and those directly connected to the public low-voltage power supply network that supplies buildings used for domestic purposes.

Recommended safe distances between portable and mobile high-frequency telecommunication devices (e.g. mobile phones) and the PressureTel ™ blood pressure monitors

The PressureTel ™ blood pressure monitors are intended for use in an electromagnetic environment in which radiated RF disturbances are controlled. The customer or the user of the PressureTel ™ blood pressure monitor can help prevent electromagnetic interference by maintaining a minimum distance between portable and mobile RF communications equipment (transmitters) and the PressureTel ™ blood pressure monitor, according to the maximum output power of the communications equipment, as shown below.

Where P is the maximum output power rating of the transmitter in watts (W) according to the transmitter manufacturer and d is the recommended separation distance in metres (m). Field strengths from fixed RF transmitters, as determined by an electromagnetic site survey, should be less than the compliance level in each frequency range. Interference may occur in the vicinity of equipment that is marked with the IEC symbol for non-ionizing radiation.

NOTE 1: At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the higher frequency range applies.

NOTE 2: These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by absorption and reflection from structures, objects and people.

Field strengths from fixed transmitters, such as base stations for radio (cellular) telephones and land mobile radios, amateur radio, AM and FM radio broadcast and TV broadcast cannot be predicted theoretically with accuracy. To assess the electromagnetic environment due to fixed RF transmitters, an electromagnetic site survey should be considered. If the measured field strength in the location in which the PressureTel ™ blood pressure monitors are used exceeds the applicable RF compliance level above, the PressureTel the PressureTel ™ blood pressure monitor.

™ blood pressure monitor should be observed to verify normal operation. If abnormal performance is observed, additional measures may be necessary, such as re-orienting or relocating
