Sterling Power Battery Maintainer is a simple and effective device designed to keep your auxiliary batteries topped up and ready to use. By transferring up to 3 amps from your primary charging source to your secondary, it ensures that your batteries are always charged and ready to go. This is especially useful for maintaining starter batteries in vehicles, as it helps to replace the internal discharge and keep the vehicle's ECU management system running smoothly.

Installation Instructions
This product is IP65 waterproof but its still advisable not to install any electric product in direct contact with water. Install in a cool dry well ventilated compartment as close to the batteries as possible.
Ensure the positive cables are fused to protect the cables, a fuse in the range of about 10A is fine.
Remember the fuse is to protect your cables and should be fitted as close as possible to the batteries. The product’s fuses are to protect the product against any major problems such as reverse polarity and will not protect your cables, this is why you must install fuses as close to the batteries as possible to protect your cables from short circuits on the cables ( i.e. if you pass the cables through a steel bulkhead and there is a problem).
Only low current flow is available through the product so a 10A cable would be more than enough in the event that the cables need to be extended.

Source Battery V good
Auxiliary Battery Low
There is no reason that the cables from this product should be run to the batteries directly. There may be an already fitted splitting device which isolates the batteries when the engine stops. I.e. in the case of a camper van there may be a split charge relay or diode, this product could simply be connected across the splitting device to use the cables already fitted in the system to reduce installation time and effort.
Charge current flowing
As with any electrical installation there may be wires already run to where you want to go, and with this product taking so little current the odds are you can ride these cables on existing cables to save installation time. So, think about your system before fitting this product. A good example would be to fit the unit beside your split charging system, all the cables are there to do this.
Please note these units will only work correctly if connected to a battery input and output, they will not work as an isolated power supply to work correctly they should not be isolated from the batteries.

Alarms / information panel:
Source battery V good: This is confirming that the source battery (the battery supplying the charge) has reached the desire voltage to activate the unit.
Auxiliary battery Low: This is a simple indicator that the battery to be charged is in fact very low, as the battery charges up then this LED will go out. Remember this LED can only work if the unit has been activated, so, the source battery LED must be on for anything to operate.
Charge current flowing: This is an indicator to inform you that current is now flowing between the 2 battery banks.
Aux Batt High V protect: This is a safety trip which will occur if there is a risk of an abnormally high charge on the aux battery bank, this could be caused by another charging source ( above 15.5V ) on the aux battery bank or this system has failed and tried to over charge the battery bank. It could in the case of the 12-12 or
24-24 be a problem with the input voltage being to high. The unit will automatically reset when the high voltage is removed.

What to expect from this product.
This is a simple product which transfers up to 1 -2 amps from you primary charging source to your secondary, the unit remains dormant until your primary battery reaches about 13.3 volts then the unit activates and sends about 1-2 amps through to the secondary battery bank. This is more than enough to keep a battery bank up to about 1000 amps hrs covered for internal discharge. On most applications the secondary battery bank would be something like a vehicle battery , in which case one needs to supply power to replace the internal discharge and maintain the vehicles
ECU management system . If given enough time this unit will top up a battery. As long as the power is maintained the secondary battery should be kept topped up ready to use . The unit will continue to work until the primary battery voltage drops below 12.8V (x 2 for 24V) where it then disconnects itself and goes to sleep.
What not to expect.
This is not a top of the range high speed 4 step battery charger. Do not use it to charge battery banks which are using more than about 0.5A continuous as they will simply not keep up with the discharge. Used for what it is designed for (keeping starter batteries etc topped up) it will work well. For batteries with high demand then please look at our full range of Battery to Battery Chargers.

Conseils d’installation

Quellbatterie LED muss also an sein.
