General points 1.1 Use Soiled water without sewage which occurs below the backwater level must be disposed of via a wastewater lifting station in accordance with DIN EN 12056. 1.2 System description The KESSEL-soiled water lifting station Aqualift S is resistant to the usual domestic acids and alkalis (pH value of 6.5 - 10) as well as to cold and hot water (up to 95°C). Condensate from condensing boilers must be neutralised or sufficiently diluted before it is discharged into the station. The discharge of sewage or wastewater containing sewage as well as combustible or explosive liquids/components is prohibited. The KESSEL lifting station Aqualift S is extremely easy to install. The KESSEL lifting station Aqualift S is available in the following versions: - for installation in the ground plate (Order no. 28500 / 28530 / 28550) The lifting station comprises a pump tank with integrated compression seal flange, a telescopic upper cover section and a cover plate with slotted cover (Class A), optionally with a cover plate resistant to surface water Class A. Maximum groundwater resistance is 2 m. The following versions are available with: 1 Pump with floating switch 1 Pump with probe level switching 2 pumps with submersible pipe and pressure sensor in the control unit 28 - as twin lifting station for above-ground installation (Order no. 28541) The KESSEL lifting station Aqualift S comprises a pump tank and an odour-tight cover. The two pumps are controlled via the submersible pipe and pressure sensor in the control unit. The pumps operate alternately, in the event of increased soiled water occurrence or if one of the pumps fails, the second pump switches on automatically. 1.3 Connections Pressure connection: R 11/2 Outer thread or pressure pipe D = 40 mm for PVC adhesive connection. Pressureless pipe connections (e.g. HT pipe) are not permitted for pressure pipes. 2. Installation Before installing the KESSEL lifting station Aqualift S all parts must be checked for transport damage. 2.1 Installation in the ground plate The pump tank must be aligned horizontally. If necessary, attach inlets at the side. For this purpose, the flat surfaces of the tank, if appropriate the adapter and upper cover section (max. DN 50), must be pre-scored using the KESSEL saw cap (art. no. 50100). Then insert a suitable elastomer seal into the bore hole and push the inlet pipe in place (Fig. 1/2). Caution Do not locate inlets near the level measurement, floating switch, conductive value probe or submersible pipe in order to avoid malfunction. A conduit must be provided on site for connection of the electric cables (Fig. 3). The conduit can be mounted in the cable duct provided in the adapter or in any other spot by pre-scoring the tank (Fig. 1/2). Insert the enclosed profile lip seal into the adapter groove, grease it and fit the upper cover section. Thanks to the design of the upper cover section, the KESSEL lifting station Aqualift S can be adapted exactly to the prevailing installation depth. Ground slopes of up to 5° can be compensated. Alignment of the cover e.g. to tile pattern is possible (Fig. 4). Caution Fig. 1 Fig. 2 Fig. 3 29 Fig. 4 The upper cover section must be shortened to the necessary size to achieve minimum installation depth. Following final alignment, near the cable duct and where any additional inlets have been attached (Fig. 5). 2. Installation The lip seal must be fitted in the cover plate. Care must be taken that the sealing lip and Fig. 5 min. 40 mm 5-10 mm centring lug are facing upwards during installation. The centring lug must be placed in the recess (see Fig. 6). When a surface water resistant cover plate is used, a ventilation pipe DN 50 is required. Only cast the tank in a concrete bed after Fig. 6 connection of all the pipes and a leak test. Installation of covers with a choice of finishes With the covers with a choice of finishes, tiles or natural stone can be inserted in the cover on site, so that they can be matched to the room’s flooring. Products e.g. from PCI, Schomburg, Deitermann are suitable for tile laying. To achieve straightforward processing and adhesion, we recommend the following procedure: Tile laying a) Prime the cover plate e.g. with PCI primer 303. Following the respective flash-off time, lay the tiles e.g. with PCI flexible mortar. This type of laying is particularly suitable for thinner tiles since the base can be filled up to the required height. b) Lay the tiles e.g. using PCI Silcoferm S (self-adhesive silicone). This allows a thin adhesive bed to be used, particularly good for thicker tiles. Laying natural stone (marble, granite, agglo-marble): 30 a) Prime the cover plate e.g. with PCI primer 303. Lay the natural stone panels using e.g. PCI-Carralit. b) b) Lay the natural stone panels using e.g. PCI-Carraferm (special silicone for natural stone). Application areas analogue to 1 2.2 Lifting station Aqualift S for recessed istallation in the ground plate (with extension piece art. no.: 83071) Depending on the installation depth, one or two extension pieces can be inserted between the upper cover section and the adapter. The respective seals must be greased accordingly. 2.3 Installation in water load If installation in water load is required, the KESSEL lifting station Aqualift S can be sealed quickly and easily. For this purpose seal sheeting is clamped between the plastic counterflange and the compression seal flange integrated on the body, and screwed together using the enclosed screws. Any sheeting used on site can be used as seal sheeting. For installation in waterproof con- 2. Installation crete (white tub), KESSEL also has matching seal sheeting available made of natural rubber NK/SBR, where the bore holes for the screws have already been cut out (art. no. 83023, see Fig. 7). Maximum groundwater resistance is 2 m. Moving the sealing level into the upper cover section requires a modified set-up where the KESSEL chamber system LW 400 is used (see Fig. 8). The individual parts required are shown in the current KESSEL sales documentation. If it is necessary to perforate the waterproof concrete tub to connect feed pipes, cable conduits etc., these holes must also be set up waterproof. Installation 2.4 KESSEL lifting station Aqualift S Duo for above-ground installation Art. no. 28541) The version for free-standing set-up is delivered ready for operation and only needs to be connected to the wastewater pipes laid on site. To guarantee the function of the lifting station, a ventilation pipe must be laid (DN 50 for normal operation, DN 70 for connection to a grease separator). Screw the tank to the ground using the 4 attachment elements provided. These serve the purpose of sound insulation. (Fig. 8) 2.5 Installing the pump To avoid transport damage, the pumps are packed separately and must be installed before initial operation - as described in chapter 3.2. With the Aqualift S Tronic for underground installation (art. no. 28550), the plug on the pump cable must be cut off for connection to the Niwotronic-control unit. Wiring must be done directly in the control unit by a qualified electrician (see installation instructions for Niwotronic control unit). 2.6 Setting the probe control (Art. no. 28550) Loosen the slide nut on the screw connection for probe attachment and set the probe to the required height. The minimum distance between the probe tip and the bottom of the tank must be 50 mm. pipe connection and fix the submersible pipe at the prescribed height (H). 2.8 Positioning the alarm probe (Art. no. 28530, 28541) 2.7 Checking submersible pipe setting Art. no. 28541/ 28530) The distance H between the lower edge of the submersible pipe and the bottom of the tank must be checked before initial operation: • H for underground system (art. no. 28350) is 10 cm (Fig. 9) • H for system for free-standing set-up (art. no. 28541) is 12 cm (Fig. 10) In the event of deviations, loosen the slide nut on the screw connection for submersible 32 H Art. no. 28530 Fig. 9 2. Cleaning and servicing According to DIN 12056 servicing must be carried out by an expert (company) at the following intervals: • after 3 months on systems used for industrial applications. • after 6 months on systems used in multi-family homes. • after 1 year on systems used in single-family homes. KESSEL recommends the conclusion of a servicing contract with the installation company or KESSEL factory customer service. During servicing, the following work must generally be done: Check all the connection points for leaks • Actuate the slide, grease and readjust if necessary • Open and clean the backflow protection device • Clean the draining pump, check the impeller and the bearings • Clean the ventilation bore hole on the pressure port. For this purpose, the deflection bracket with hose sections must be dismantled and checked for blockage. • Clean the inside of the tank if necessary • Check the electrical connections for correct function After servicing work has been completed, replace all the dismantled parts, carry out a test run and put the system back into operation. Prepare servicing log. 3.1 Removing the pump(s) backwater valve with the arrow pointing downwards 3.2 Installing the pump(s) Before re-installing the pump, clean all the sealing surfaces. Grease the lip seal in the drain. Set the pump with both grooves in the housing base onto the guide in the tank and push it forwards until the pump's pressure pipe can be inserted into the tank drain (Fig. 13). Lock the quick-action closure. Mono Fig. 12 Ventilation bore hole Fig. 12 also applies without floating switch. The pump can be removed quickly and without tools simply by loosening the one-handed quick-action closure. The backwater valve in the pressure port of the tank prevents the wastewater which is still in the pressure pipe flowing back into the system. 34 Fig. 13 Duo The same procedure is used with the Aqualift S Duo lifting station, the only difference being that the inner groove is set on the guide rail. Fit the cable with the plug through the 3. Cleaning and servicing Insert the cable conduit with the aid of a wire pull and connect to the socket. With the versions with control unit, the special cable (art. no. 28530) or the hose for pneumatic level measurement (art. no. 25830) must also be pulled through the cable conduit. Fill the tank with water and check the function of the floating switch and the probes and submersible pipe. Set slotted cover or cover plate in place. 3.3 Servicing Caution Always REMOVE THE MAINS PLUG before carrying out any work on the pump! To do this, unscrew the suction strainer after removing the pump, take the suction cover off and clean the impeller space. Check the floating switch and level probes or submersible pipe and alarm probe regularly for soiling and clean if necessary. Never open the pump yourself (always have an expert do it) since improper handling could damage the pump seal and allow oil to enter the wastewater. 3.4 Servicing the integrated backwater valves Remove the pump. After removal of the pump attachment (loosen the two cross-slot screws, see Fig. 12), the backwater valve can be removed and cleaned. This allows unhindered access for cleaning the pressure pipe. Caution During installation, make sure that the valve is mounted with the arrow pointing downwards. 3.5 Use of the KTP 500 as submersible pump Motor-driven submersible pumps contain oil for lubrication and cooling; this oil can escape and soil the pumping medium if the pump is damaged. Before you put your KESSEL Aqualift S submersible pump into operation, have an expert check whether the following electrical protective measures are available: grounding, neutral, isolation transformer or residual currentoperated protective circuit; these must comply with the requirements of local electricity sup- 35 pliers and be in perfect working condition. (EVU = Energie-Versorgungsunternehmen = electricity suppliers) Caution The electrical plug and socket device must be kept dry! If there is a danger of flooding, install the plug and socket device in the floodproof range. Pumps may only be used in swimming pools and garden ponds and their protected area if they have been set up according to VDE 0100 § 49d. Please ask your qualified electrician. 4.
