Who Are We
21st Century was founded by Tony Cataldi in
1977, as a two step distributor of Aladdin brand
kerosene heaters and lamps for the eastern
Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey area.
In 1980 21st Century expanded distribution to a
national level. 21st Century led the market by
developing a full line of generic wicks, syphons,
and igniters. During this period, 21st Century also
added the DIETZ line of hurricane lanterns and a
disposable butane lighter.
As the decade came to a close, 21st Century
expanded again with a line of BBQ Repair Parts
and it’s accompanying Accessories Program.
21st Century’s success with the Dietz line was
rewarded in 1997 when they became the
exclusive import distributor. The company also
introduced a line of glass and metal oil lamps,
privately labeled as “Glo-Brite”.
Further moves in the lantern market occurred in
2005 when the V & O brand of lamps and
lanterns was acquired. This gave 21st Century a
stronghold in the marketplace.
In 2006 21st Century introduced its own upscale
brand of barbecue accessories named “Just Grill It”.
2007 began and ended with 21st Century
introducing the sandalwood mosquito stick, the
bug zapper line, and upgrading the packaging,
helping making them a powerful presence in the
lawn and garden industry
21st Century continues to strive to find new and
innovative products for each of its categories and
is constantly evaluating and updating selections
to make the newest products available.

BEFORE YOU START...
* Your grill should be completely cooled
* Turn control knobs to the OFF position
* Move grill to an open, well ventilated area
* Turn off gas flow at the propane tank,
(or disconnect from natural gas line)

BAR-B-QUE TUNE-UP GUIDE
Step 1: Clean Grids and Grates
* Remove grids, rocks or briquettes and rock grate.
* Inspect grids for damage ( rust, corrosion, chipping ).
If grate is worn thin, or damaged, replace with our quality universal
replacement parts.
* If your grill is prone to flare-ups, or uneven heat
distribution, discard old rock or briquettes and replace.
* If all parts check out, clean grids & grates with our quality degreaser.
Step 2: Inspect Ignition System
Step 3: Inspect the Burner
* Remove the burner ( consult your owners manual for instructions on
how to remove your burner )
* Use a brush to remove rust and residue.
* Inspect burner for holes or cracks ( commonly found along the seams )
* Check venturi tubes for inspects. Spiders commonly nest in tubes.
Clean venturi tubes with a venturi flexible brush. (B70A)
* If burner or tubes are damaged, replace with one of our universal parts.
Step 4: Inspect Hoses and Gauges
* Inspect all hoses on the grill. Look for signs of dry rot including
cracking, abrasions, holes or tears. Ensure all the hoses are tightly
connected and that there are no sharp bends or kinks.
* Check the exterior of the gas cylinder for rust, dents, bulges, corrosion,
punctures or any other forms of visually identifiable external damage.
* Check for leaks. Create a soapy solution by mixing equal parts of water
and liquid detergent. Apply some of the solution to the closed valve at
the point where it connects to the gas tank. Turn the gas on slowly.
If bubbles appear in the solution, you may have a gas leak.
* Replace damaged hoses and gauges with our universal parts.

* If ignitor does not work, check to be sure electrode is 1/8” away from
burner. This distance is necessary for spark generation. Check if food
residue is blocking electrode, and electrode is not cracked or damaged.
* Ensure that the ignitor is not shorting out or sparking at the grill frame
or the casting bottom.
* If ignitor still does not light after several attempts, plan on replacing it.
( for electronic ignitors, be sure to install a fresh battery )
BURNER KITS
All Burner Kits Include: gaskets, adjustable legs,
hardware, and EZ-Flex Venturi tubes.
Burners come in a variety of shapes, styles and materials and are described and
referred to generally by their shape as viewed from the top. For example the most
common, being the H-Burner which is shaped like the letter H, the oval burner
which is oval shaped and the bar burner in the shape of a long thin bar.
Burner shape or configuration effects the distribution of the flame and uniformity
of the heat across the cooking surface. Because combustion air holes molded into
the bottom of the castings follow the actual contour of the burner, replacement
burners must be of the same shape and configuration as the original.

The burner is the heart of the barbecue and is subject to great abuse from corrosive food
acids, high temperatures and moisture. Although it is common that burner replacement
becomes necessary during the life of the grill, burner life can be greatly extended by
periodic maintenance and cleaning. In addition, frequent use will actually extend burner
longevity by burning away moisture and food acids.

The venturi tubes are the tubes that extend from the burner to the control
valves. These have openings at the ends to allow air to mix with the gas as
it leaves the control valve. Generally they are fitted with moveable shutters
that allow for air mixture adjustment and with spider guards or small
screening to discourage spiders and insects from entering.
GRIDS
Cooking grates come in a variety of styles and materials. The most common are chrome
plated and porcelain coated rod. Also available are cast iron, porcelain coated cast iron,
stainless steel and porcelain coated steel. Coat the cooking grids with vegetable oil before
cooking. This helps prevent the food from sticking and makes cleaning easier.

KEROSENE HEATER WICK REPLACEMENT
KEROSENE
When you receive your new kerosene heater wick replacement the instructions for installing it will come with it. These
instructions have been written in the hopes that you get a general idea of how to replace your wick with a new one.
Always reference the manual for your specific heater model.
•You must burn your heater dry, which means there will be no more kerosene in the
...base or old wick.
•Allow your heater to cool.
•Take out the fuel tank, batteries and wick adjuster knob by pulling them straight out
•Open the front grill and gently remove the chimney. Be careful.Do not break its
glass chimney.
•Unscrew and remove the screws that fasten the cabinet to the heater base and lift the
...cabinet straight up. Keep these screws handy.
•Remove the mica windshield over the burner.
•Unscrew the wing nuts, which secure the wick assembly to the base, and raise the
...entire assembly straight up.
•Remove the wick and wick holder by lifting them straight up the draft tube part of the
...wick holder assembly.
•Before the next step - With a marker, draw a line on the old wick where it meets the
...collar of the wick holder, this will make installing the new wick easier.
•Grab the old wick and fold it in on itself to free it from the teeth that connect it to the
...wick holder.
•Compare the line you've drawn on your wick to the black line on the replacement wick.
...If the lines are not in the same place, draw a new line around your replacement
...wick to match the old one. This shows how much should be inserted in the wick
...holder.
•Fold the replacement wick in on itself and insert it into the holder to the depth you
...marked. Then release it and let it pop back into shape, engaging with the teeth
...inside the collar of the holder.
•Slide the wick and holder back onto the draft tube. Spin it around the tube while
...pressing against its sides to make sure the teeth in the holder engage fully with the
...wick.
•Place the wick adjuster knob back onto the shaft.
•Move the shut-off switch on the adjuster assembly so that it lowers all the way down.
•Rotate the adjuster knob 3/4 of a turn clockwise and hold the latch attached to the
...knob shaft in that position.
•Engage the pinion on the inside of the wick-raising shaft into the latch so that the wick
...holder and wick are near the top of the shaft.
•Replace the entire wick adjuster assembly onto the base and test the mechanism.
•Screw the wing nuts back on loosely. Once loosely attached, steadily raise the wick
...using the knob.
•Now tighten the wing nuts. Adjust the height of the wick using the knob so that about
...3/8 of an inch is showing at the top of the shaft.
•Finally, replace all the other parts of the heater in the opposite order from when you
...took them off.
•Congratulations on replacing your wick!

important dimension to consider when measuring for a replacement chimney

WICKS
Oil lamps provide light without electricity by using a wick to absorb lamp oil and
carry it from the lamp tank through a brass burner into a glass chimney. Wicks
eventually burn away and should be replaced with one of the same width that
fits the oil lamp's burner. It's best to replace wicks before they burn out
completely to ensure you'll have the light you need in an emergency.

Routine burner and wick maintenance is important if you intend to use your lamp.
Efficient combustion will be hindered if the burner is dirty and if the wick is
not properly maintained and trimmed. Kerosene or lamp oil deposits on the burner
trap dust particles. The burner body, especially the perforations, must be cleaned
periodically to prevent clogging and promote proper air flow.

SOP return, but a 30% re-stocking fee may apply.
Damages and shortages must be reported within 15 days of receipt of order.
Damaged packaging is the responsibility of the costumer to contact UPS /
FedEx to file a claim. 21st Century Inc. will only replace parts or products
damaged in transit.
There is no limit on back orders. All items remain on back order until filled.
A cancellation number is required to cancel any item on back order.
A re-stocking fee may apply to cancelled items on back order.
