HIS (High Strength) Coaxial Cable Construction: Center Conductor: stranded, silver plated copper clad steel (alloys optional) Dielectric: solid PTFE Braid: silver plated copper clad steel (alloys optional) Jacket: FEP Designed for specific applications Harbour Industries high strength coaxial cables have been designed for applications where breakage or fatigue is a concern. Frequently, installation or termination and severe vibration of smaller size MIL-C-17 coaxial cables result in stressing of individual strands of the outer braid or the center conductor. To correct this situation, Harbour’s High Strength HIS cables have been designed with conductors exhibiting higher break strengths than standard silver plated copper. Accordingly, a flex life 25 times greater than comparable RG constructions can be expected. Harbour has designed a number of triaxial cables, expanding the product line offered in the MIL-C-17 specification. (Currently, the MIL-C-17 specification defines only one triaxial design — M17/131-RG403, a triaxial version of M17/93-RG178.) With an existing double braided design, an interlayer of insulation is used between the two braids. With a single braided cable, an interlayer and a second braid is used. Complete isolation between the braids is realized, in addition to achieving a more effective shield configuration.
