WARNING! THE DEVICE PLUG WITH SOCKET AND INTERNAL COMPONENTS ARE UNDER
POTENTIALLY LETHAL VOLTAGE.
TO ENSURE THE DEVICE SAFE OPERATION IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN THE FOLLOWING:
– TO OPEN AND REPAIR THE DEVICE WITHOUT ANY PROFESSIONAL HELP;
– TO OPERATE THE DEVICE WITH MECHANICAL DAMAGES OF THE HOUSING.
IT IS NOT ALLOWED WATER PENETRATION ON THE INTERNAL ELEMENTS OF THE DEVICE, SOCKET

ATTENTION!
1) THE DEVICE IS NOT INTENDED FOR THE LOAD COMMUTATION IN CASE OF SHORT CIRCUIT.
THEREFORE THE DEVICE SHOULD BE OPERATED IN THE ELECTRICAL MAINS PROTECTED BY THE
CIRCUIT BREAKER WITH INTERRUPTING CURRENT OF 16 A MAXIMUM.
2) DO NOT CONNECT THE DEVICE TO THE POWER LOAD MORE THAN 3.6 kW.
3) LOAD CURRENT VALUE SHOULD NOT EXCEED CURRENT VALUE OF THE SOCKET TO WHICH RN122 IS CONNECTED.
To improve performance, it is recommended to use the device at load currents not exceeding 10 A.
During operation and maintenance the regulatory document requirements must be met, namely:
Regulations for Operation of Consumer Electrical Installations;
Safety Rules for Operation of Consumer Electrical Installations;
Occupational Safety in Operation of Electrical Installations;
Installation, adjustment and maintenance of the device must be performed by the users having studied this
Operating Manual.
The device is safe for use under keeping of the operating rules.

This Operating Manual is intended to familiarize you with the design, the requirements for safety, operation and
maintenance procedures of the voltage relay RN-122 (hereinafter referred to as the "device", RN-122).
The device meets the requirements of the following:
–IEC 60947-1; Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear; Part 1; General rules;
–IEC 60947-6-2; Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear; Part 6-2; Multiple function equipment; Control and
protective switching devices;
–CISPR 11; Electromagnetic compatibility; Industrial, scientific and medical RF equipment; Electromagnetic
interference characteristics; Limits and methods of measurements;
– IEC 61000-4-2; Electromagnetic compatibility; Part 4-2; Testing and measurement techniques; Electrostatic
discharge immunity test.
Harmful substances in amounts exceeding maximum permissible concentrations are not available.
Terms and abbreviations:
AR (automatic reclosing) interval is the time after which the protected equipment will turn on after the
occurrence of "Voltage failure".
Umax is the maximum voltage operation threshold.
Umin is the minimum voltage operation threshold.
1. SERVICE
1.1. Device service
RN-122 is designed to protect household appliances (equipment) up to 3.6 kW (refrigerators, air conditioners,
washing machines, TV and audio equipment, etc.) against unacceptable mains voltage fluctuations and the
consequences of neutral interruption.
RN-122:
– provides disconnection of the protected equipment if the value of the mains voltage exceeds the limits set by
the user (after the mains parameters are restored, the automatic reclosing will take place (hereinafter referred to as
the “AR” - automatic reclosing);
– indicates the value of the mains voltage and the presence of voltage in the device socket.
1.2. Controls and overall dimensions of RN-122
Controls and overall dimensions of RN-122 are shown in Fig. 1.

1.3. Operation conditions
The device is intended for operation in the following conditions:
– Ambient temperature: from minus 10 to +45 °С;
– Atmospheric pressure: from 84 to 106.7 kPa;

– Relative humidity (at temperature of +25 °С): 30 … 80 %.
If the temperature of the device after transportation or storage differs from the ambient temperature at
which it is supposed to be operated, then before connecting to the mains keep the device under the operating
conditions within two hours (because of condensation may be on the device elements).
ATTENTION! The device is not intended for operation in the following conditions:
– Significant vibration and shocks;
– High humidity;
– Aggressive environment with content in the air of acids, alkalis, etc., as well as severe contaminations
(grease, oil, dust, etc.).

3. THE INTENDED USE
3.1. Preparation for operation
3.1.1. Preparation for connection:
 Unpack the device (we recommend to keep the original packing for the entire warranty period of the device
operation);

 Check the device for absence of damage after transportation; in case of such damages detection, contact
the supplier or the manufacturer;
 Carefully study the Operating Manual;
 If you have any questions regarding the installation of the device, please contact the manufacturer by
telephone number indicated at the end of this Operation Manual.
3.1.2. Device connection
3.1.2.1. Connect RN-122 to the mains socket.

The device is ready for operation.
If the mains voltage exceeds set thresholds, the display will show the value of the mains voltage in the blinking
mode instead of the AR countdown, in this case there is no voltage in the device socket, the ON LED is off.
After restoring the mains voltage parameters, the display will show the mains voltage value, the voltage will
appear in the RN-122 socket, the ON LED will light up.
3.1.2.2. The device has the following factory settings:

3.1.3.3 Setting the on-time after voltage failure (AR interval)
For air conditioners, refrigerators and other compressors, we recommend setting the AR interval to at least 250
– 300 s, for other equipment - according to their operating instructions.

3.2. RN-122 operation
Normal operation of the device - the mains voltage is within the set thresholds, the AR time has finished, the
protected equipment is connected to the device, the ON LED is on, and the value of the mains voltage is shown on
the display.
Failure conditions
If the value of the mains voltage exceeds the set thresholds, the RN-122 goes into the "Voltage Failure"
conditions.
From the moment of occurrence of the failure conditions:
– the protected equipment will be disconnected;
– the display will show the value of the mains voltage in flashing mode;
– AR time countdown will start.
If the mains voltage parameters have been restored and the AR time has not yet finished, the display will show
the AR countdown with the lighted dot in the low-order of the display. At the same time, there is no voltage in the
RN-122 socket and the ON LED is off. After the AR time has finished, the device will return to normal operation.
When the code “” appears on the display, contact the place of purchase or the manufacturer.
Registration of the maximum and minimum values of the mains voltage

The device registers the maximum and minimum values of the mains voltage, storing them in the memory.
To view these values, simultaneously press Umin/- and Umax/+ buttons briefly. After that, the display will
consistently show: the maximum voltage code; the maximum value of the voltage; minimum voltage code; minimum
value of mains voltage. Then the device returns to the mains voltage value displaying.
After viewing, the RN-122 resets the previously saved mains voltage values and registers new ones.
When you turn on the device for the first time, the minimum value of the mains voltage will be "0". In the event
of the device shutdown or power outage, the minimum value of the mains voltage will also be "0".
When the device is disconnected, all previously registered mains voltage values are reset.
Device overheating protection
The device protection against overheating is provided in RN-122. If the temperature inside the device housing
rises above 85 °С, the code “” will appear on the display, the ON LED will be off and the protected equipment
will be off.
In this case it is necessary:
– unplug the device from the power socket;
– let it cool down;
– check the reliability of the connection of the plug and socket of RN-122 to the mains socket and the protected
equipment, as well as the absence of carbon deposits;
– check whether the power of the connected equipment exceeds 3.6 kW;
– switch on again.
If the code “” appears frequently on the display, contact the place of purchase or the manufacturer.
4. MAINTENANCE
4.1. Safety precautions
DURING MAINTENANCE IT IS NECESSARY TO DISABLE THE DEVICE AND CONNECTED DEVICES
FROM THE MAINS.
4.2. Recommended frequency of maintenance is every six months.
4.3. Maintenance Procedure:
1) Visually check the absence of carbon deposit on the plug of the device, in case of detection, remove the
carbon deposit;
2) Visually check the integrity of the housing, in case of detection of cracks and damages take the device out of
service and send for repair;
3) If necessary, wipe the housing of the device with cloth.
Do not use abrasives and solvents for cleaning.

5. SERVICE LIFE AND MANUFACTURER WARRANTY
5.1. The lifetime of the device is 10 years. Upon expiration of the service life, contact the manufacturer.
5.2. Shelf life is 3 years.
5.3. Warranty period of the device operation is 5 years from the date of sale.
During the warranty period of operation (in the case of failure of the device) the manufacturer is
responsible for repair of the device free of charge.
ATTENTION! IF THE DEVICE HAS BEEN OPERATED IN VIOLATION OF THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS
OPERATION MANUAL, THE MANUFACTURER HAS THE RIGHT TO REFUSE IN WARRANTY SERVICE.
5.4. Warranty service is performed at the place of purchase or by the manufacturer of the device.
5.5. Post-warranty service of the device is performed by the manufacturer at current rates.
5.6. Before sending for repair, the device should be packed in the original or other packing excluding
mechanical damage.
6. TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE
The device in the original package is permitted to be transported and stored at the temperature from minus 45
to +60 °C and relative humidity of no more than 80 %.
7. ACCEPTANCE CERTIFICATE
RN-122 has been manufactured and accepted in accordance with the requirements of current technical
documentation and classified as fit for operation.
