EDID Management
Bei diesem Feature sendet das Display (z.B. LCD) über das HDMI Kabel eine
Information an die Quelle, welche Auflösungsformate es beherrscht. Die
Quelle wiederum gibt dann das höchste passende Format seinerseits aus.
(EDID = Extended Display Indentification Data)
Wie verarbeitet die Exzellenz HDMI Switch Box 4 2 das EDID Signal wenn
zwei Displays (z.B. LCD und Beamer) mit unterschiedlichen
Auflösungsformaten angeschlossen werden?
Situation 1 – E s wird nur ein Display eingeschaltet:
Die HDMI Switch Box gibt das EDID Signal des eingeschalteten Displays an
die Quelle weiter. In diesem Fall sollte zuerst das Display mit dem geringeren
Auflösungsver-mögen eingeschaltet werden.

BEISPIEL 1:

Display: 576i, 720p und 1080i
•
Quellen: 576i, 720p 1080i und 1080p
In diesem Fall wird die Quelle nur auf 1080i schalten da dieses das höchste Format ist
welches das Display verarbeiten kann.
BEISPIEL 2:
•
Display: 576i, 720p, 1080i und 1080p
•
Quellen: 576i, 720p und 1080i
In diesem Fall wird die Quelle ebenfalls nur auf 1080i schalten, da sie selbst kein
höheres Format beherrscht.

Situation 2 - Ein Display läuft bereits und das Zweite wird später
eingeschaltet:
Es wird weiterhin das EDID Signal des zuerst eingeschalteten Displays an die
Quelle weitergegeben und das Auflösungsformat wird beibehalten.
ACHTUNG: Wenn das Display mit dem höheren Auflösungsvermögen zuerst
eingeschaltet war, kann es sein dass das zweite Display mit dem geringeren
Auflösungsvermögen kein Bild anzeigt, da es mit dem bereitgestellten höheren
Format nicht kompatibel ist!
Situation 3 - Es werden beide Displays gleichzeitig eingeschaltet:
In diesem Fall hat das EDID Signal von Ausgang 2 Priorität und wird an die
Quelle weitergegeben.
ACHTUNG: damit beide Displays auch ein Bild wiedergeben, muss an Ausgang
2 das Display mit dem geringeren Auflösungsvermögen angeschlossen werden
With this feature, the display (e.g. LCD) transmits to the source which resolution formats it
supports via the HDMI cable. The source, in turn, sends back the highest suitable format. (EDID =

How does the Exzellenz HDMI Switch 4 2 manage the EDID signal when two displays (e.g. LCD
and projector) with differing resolution formats are connected?
Situation 1 - only one display is switched on:
The HDMI switch relays the EDID signal of the display that is switched on to the source.
Situation 2 - One display is already running and the second is switched on afterwards:
The EDID signal of the display switched on first is still relayed to the source and the resolution
format is retained.
Caution: If the display with the higher resolution capability is switched on first, it is possible that
the second display with the lower resolution capability will not show any picture because it is not
compatible with the higher format!
In this case, the display with the lower resolution capability should be switched on first.
Situation 3 -both displays are switched on at the same time:
In this case, the EDID signal from Output 2 has priority and is relayed to the source.
Caution: The display with the lower resolution capability must be connected to Output 2 for both
displays to show a picture.

In this case, the source will switch to just 1080i because this is the highest format that
the panel can process.

In this case, the source will also switch to just 1080i because it does not support a higher
format itself.

Anschluss / setting up:
Bevor Sie den Exzellenz HDMI Switch anschließen trennen Sie unbedingt
alle Geräte vom Stromnetz (Netzstecker ziehen).
Verbinden Sie die HDMI Quellengeräte mit den Eingängen IN 1
bis IN 4 (Pos. 7) des Exzellenz HDMI Switch.
Verbinden Sie das Anzeigegerät (Plasma, LCD, DLP, Projektor)
mit dem Exzellenz HDMI Switch Output 1 & 2 (Pos. 6)
Verbinden Sie das mitgelieferte Netzteil mit der 5V Buchse des
Exzellenz HDMI Switch (Pos. 5). Stecken Sie alle Netzstecker der
angeschlossenen Geräte und das Netzteil ein.

Für den Anschluss der Geräte empfehlen wir in-akustik HDMI Kabel.

Connect the HDMI source device with the IN 1 to IN 4 (pos. 7) inputs on the
Exzellenz HDMI switch.
Connect the display device (plasma, LCD, DLP, projector) with the Exzellenz
HDMI switch
outputs 1 & 2 (pos. 6).
Connect the supplied power supply unit with the 5 V socket on the Exzellenz
HDMI switch (pos. 5). Insert all the plugs of the connected devices and the

We recommend in-akustik HDMI cable for connecting up the devices.

Operating with the remote control:
Mit der Taste POWER ON/OFF (Pos. 4) kann der Exzellenz HDMI Switch Einund Ausgeschaltet werden. Der Betriebszustand wird durch die rote LED
(Pos. 3) angezeigt. Mit den Tasten << und >> kann zwischen den
Eingängen IN1 bis IN4 (Pos. 7) auf und ab geschaltet werden. Mit den
Zifferntasten 1-4
können die jeweiligen Eingänge IN1 bis IN4 direkt
gewählt werden. Der jeweils aktive Eingang wird durch die entsprechende
grüne LED (Pos. 2) angezeigt.
Press the POWER ON/OFF (pos. 4) button to switch on and switch off the Exzellenz HDMI
switch. The red LED (pos. 3) displays the operating mode. Press the << and >> buttons to
switch up and down between the IN 1 to IN 4 (pos. 7) inputs. You can select the IN 1 to IN 4
inputs directly using the 1-4 number buttons. The active input is displayed on the green LED
(pos. 2).

Operating on the device:
Der Exzellenz HDMI Switch kann über die Select Taste (Pos. 4) direkt
bedient werden. Zum Ein- bzw. Ausschalten halten Sie den Taster
jeweils für ca. 3 Sekunden gedrückt. Durch kurzes Drücken der Taste
Select (Pos. 4) können Sie die Eingänge nacheinander anwählen (1 2 3 4 zurück zu 1 2.... usw.)
Bitte beachten Sie, dass nach dem Umschalten ein Moment vergehen
kann, bis das Display ein Bild anzeigt.
Press the Select button (pos. 4) to select the Exzellenz HDMI switch directly. Press and
hold down the button for approx. 3 seconds to switch on or off. Briefly press the Select
button (pos. 4) to select the inputs in succession (1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 --> and back to 1
--> 2… etc.)
Please note that there could be a slight delay after switching, before a picture is shown
on the display.
