Thank you for purchasing the YAMAHA TD-10M Chromatic Tuner.
Please read this manual thoroughly and keep it in a safe place for future reference.
■ PRECAUTIONS
◆ To prevent damage, do not use the tuner in the following locations:
• places where the unit will be in direct sunlight;
• places subject to temperature and humidity extremes;
• places that are sandy or dusty.
◆ To power the tuner, use only two AAA 1.5-volt batteries.
◆ For maximum battery life, always be sure the tuner is turned OFF when not in
use.
◆ If an exhausted battery is left in the unit for an extended period of time, it may
leak and cause malfunctioning of the unit. When the battery becomes
exhausted, always remove it and replace it as soon as possible.
◆ Do not subject the tuner to strong physical shock or vibration. Do not use
excessive force on any of the controls.
◆ Never use solvents such as benzene or thinner to clean the tuner. Wipe clean
with a soft, dry cloth.
◆ After reading the owner's manual, keep it in a safe place for future reference.
◆ After tuning is complete, always remove the contact mic from the instrument.
Leaving the mic in place for extended periods of time will damage the
instruments lacquer finish.
Never dispose of used batteries by burning them.
Also make sure to keep batteries away from children.
■ TILT SLIT
The tuner can be tilted back by using the slit in the rear panel. Insert a coin or
similar flat object into the slit and tilt back as shown in the diagram below.

■ TUNING PROCEDURE
1. Press the POWER switch to turn the power on.
2. When the POWER is switched on, the tuner is set to the Auto Mode and the
previously selected Standard Pitch setting.
* In the Auto Mode, the tuner automatically displays the closest note played by the
instrument and whether that note’s pitch is high or low.
3. To change the Standard Pitch, press the CALIB switch. Each time the switch is
pressed, the Standard Pitch will increase by 1Hz (430 – 449Hz).
4. To tune an electric or electronic instrument, use the contact mic, an external
mic or pickup. Use the INPUT jack to connect the instrument or mic’s cable to
the tuner. (When a plug is connected to the INPUT jack, the internal
microphone does not operate.)
* The contact mic can be used on brass and other similar acoustic instruments. Use
the clip on the contact mic to attach the mic to the instrument (bell or other part of
the instrument that vibrates). The round silicon pad on the clip contains the
pickup mic.
If it is not possible to attach the contact mic to the instrument, use the internal mic
and play the note as close to the mic as possible.
5. When a note is played on the instrument, the tuner automatically selects the
closest note.
* At this time, another note can be manually selected by pressing the NOTE switch
(each time the switch is pressed the note is increased by one-half step :Manual
Mode). Press the AUTO switch to return the tuner to the Auto Mode.
6. Once the selected note is displayed, tune your instrument until the middle
tuning guide (green) lights and the needle of the meter display points to “0”.

■ BATTERY INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
The tuner is not supplied with batteries. Purchase two (2) AAA (1.5-volt) batteries
and install as described below.
Also, when battery power becomes low, the LCD display will fade. Continued use
of the tuner in this condition may cause batteries to leak, resulting in damage to
the tuner. Replace the batteries with a new set as soon as possible.
● Battery Installation/Replacement Procedure
1. Press the two catches marked OPEN ,
located on either side of the tuner, and
open rear cover.
2. Remove the old batteries and insert a
new set of batteries (AAA x 2) making
sure their pole positions are properly
aligned.
3. Reattach the rear cover to complete
battery replacement.

■ VORSICHTSMASSREGELN
◆ Verwenden Sie das Stimmgerät nicht an Orten, wo es den folgenden
schädlichen Einflüssen ausgesetzt ist:
• Direktes Sonnenlicht
• Extreme Temperatur- und Luftfeuchtigkeitswerte
• Sand und Staub
◆ Verwenden Sie als Stromquelle ausschließlich zwei R3-Batterien (Größe
“AAA”).
◆ Schalten Sie das Stimmgerät nach Gebrauch stets aus, um die Batterien zu
schonen.
◆ Wenn verbrauchte Batterien längere Zeit im Gerät verbleiben, können sie
auslaufen und Schäden verursachen. Wenn die Batterien schwächer werden,
sollten Sie sie daher entnehmen und so bald wie möglich durch frische
ersetzen.
◆ Schützen Sie das Stimmgerät vor starken Schlägen und Erschütterungen.
Wenden Sie beim Betätigen der Bedienelemente nicht zu viel Kraft auf.
◆ Verwenden Sie zum Säubern des Stimmgeräts keine Lösungsmittel wie
Benzin oder Verdünner. Entfernen Sie Staub und Schmutz mit einem
weichen, trockenen Tuch.
◆ Bewahren Sie diese Anleitung nach dem Durchlesen gut auf.
◆ Nehmen Sie das Kontaktmikrofon nach beendetem Stimmvorgang stets
wieder vom Instrument ab. Wenn das Mikrofon längere Zeit angeklemmt
bleibt, schadet dies dem Lack bzw. der Oberfläche des Instruments.
Achten Sie bitte auf korrekte Entsorgung verbrauchter Batterien.
Batterien dürfen nicht verbrannt werden!
Achten Sie bitte auch darauf, daß Batterien nicht in Kinderhände
geraten.
■ KIPPSCHLITZ
Das TD-10M weist einen Schlitz auf der Rückseite auf, wodurch es nach hinten
gekippt werden kann. Eine Münze o.ä. in den Schlitz einführen und das Gerät
nach hinten kippen, wie gezeigt.

■ STIMMVORGANG
1. Drücken Sie den POWER-Schalter, um das Gerät einzuschalten.
2. Beim Einschalten werden der Automatik-Modus und die zuvor eingestellte
Standardtonhöhe vorgegeben.
* Im Automatik-Modus gibt das Stimmgerät automatisch den Ton vor, der dem mit
dem Instrument gespielten am nächsten kommt, und zeigt an, ob die Tonhöhe zu
niedrig oder zu hoch ist.
3. Zum Ändern der Standardtonhöhe drücken Sie den CALIB-Schalter. Bei jeder
Schalterbetätigung nimmt die Tonhöhe um 1 Hz zu (430 bis 449 Hz).
4. Zum Stimmen eines elektrischen oder elektronischen Instruments sowie zum
Stimmen mit dem Kontaktmikrofon oder einem anderen externen Mikrofon,
Tonabnehmer u. dgl. schließen Sie das Kabel des Instruments bzw. Mikrofons
an die INPUT-Buchse des Stimmgeräts an. (Beim Beschalten der INPUTBuchse wird das eingebaute Mikrofon automatisch außer Betrieb gesetzt.)
* Das Kontaktmikrofon kann bei Blechblasinstrumenten und anderen akustischen
Instrumenten zum Stimmen verwendet werden. Befestigen Sie das Mikrofon mit
der Klammer am Instrument (Schallstück, Becher oder anderer, Schall
abstrahlender Teil). Das runde Silikonpolster an der Klammer enthält das
Kontaktmikrofon. Wenn das Instrument keinen guten Anbringungsort für das
Kontaktmikrofon bietet, verwenden Sie das eingebaute Mikrofon und spielen den
Ton aus möglicht kurzem Abstand.
5. Wenn Sie mit dem Instrument einen Ton spielen, zeigt das Stimmgerät
automatisch den am nächsten kommenden Stimmton an.
* Sie können nun alternativ auch manuell einen anderen Ton wählen, indem Sie
den NOTE-Schalter drücken (bei jeder Schalterbetätigung wird um jeweils einen
Halbton aufwärts weitergeschaltet = manueller Modus). Zum Zurückschalten auf
Automatik können Sie jederzeit den AUTO-Schalter drücken.
6. Wenn die gewünschte Stimmnote angezeigt wird, stimmen Sie das
Instrument, bis die mittlere (grüne) Stimmhilfe-LED leuchtet und der
Stimmzeiger auf “0” weist.

■ EINLEGEN UND AUSWECHSELN VON BATTERIEN
Das Stimmgerät wird ohne Batterien geliefert. Beschaffen Sie zwei (2) R3-Batterien (1,5 Volt, Größe “AAA”), und legen Sie diese gemäß den nachfolgend gegebenen Anweisungen ein.
Bei zu niedriger Batteriespannung wird das Display zusehends blasser. Wenn
das Stimmgerät in diesem Zustand weiterverwendet wird, können die Batterien
auslaufen und das Gerät beschädigen. Ersetzen Sie verbrauchte Batterien bitte
so bald wie möglich durch frische.
● Einlegen/Auswechseln der Batterien
1. Drücken Sie auf beide durch
OPEN gekennzeichneten Sperren
an beide Seiten des Stimmgeräts,
um die Rückwand zu öffnen.
2. Entfernen Sie die alten Batterien,
um dann einen Satz frischer
Batterien (R3, Größe “AAA” x 2) mit
korrekt ausgerichteten Polen
einzulegen.
3. Bringen Sie nach dem Einlegen der
Batterien die Rückwand wieder fest
an.

Schalten Sie das Stimmgerät nach dem Batteriewechsel ein, um zu prüfen,
daß es einwandfrei funktioniert. Nach dem Auswechseln der Batterien sind
die Voreinstellungen wie folgt: Standardtonhöhe = 440 Hz, Stimmton = “A”.
