The TM45 Digital Thermometer is warranted against any defects of material or workmanship within a period of one (1) year following the date of purchase of the multimeter by the original purchaser or original user.

Any multimeter claimed to be defective during the warranty period should be returned with proof of purchase to an authorized Wavetek Meterman Service

Center or to the local Wavetek Meterman dealer or distributor where your multimeter was purchased. See maintenance section for details.

Any implied warranties arising out of the sale of a Wavetek Meterman multimeter, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited in duration to the above stated one (1) year period. Wavetek Meterman shall not be liable for loss of use of the multimeter or other incidental or consequential damages, expenses, or economical loss or for any claim or claims for such damage, expenses or economical loss.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long implied warranties last or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

INTRODUCTION

The TM45 is a portable, 3-1/2 digit, compact-sized digital thermometer designed for use with an external K-type thermocouple as temperature sensor. Temperature indication follows Reference

Temperature/Voltage tables N.I.S.T. Monograph 175 Revised to ITS-90 for K-type thermocouples. One K-type thermocouple is supplied with the thermometer.

Das TM45 ist ein tragbares, 3-1/2 stelliges, kompaktes Digitalthermometer zum Messen mit externenTyp K Temperaturfühlern.

Temperaturanzeige erfolgt gemäß Temperatur/Spannungs-Referenztabelle N.I.S.T. Monograph 175 überarbeitet gemäß ITS-90 für Typ K

Thermoelemente. Ein Typ K Temperaturfühler ist mit dem Gerät mitgeliefert.

El TM45 es un termómetro digital portátil, de 3 1/2 dígitos y tamaño compacto, diseñado para utilizarlo con un termopar externo de tipo K como sensor de temperatura. La indicación de temperatura sigue las tablas de referencia temperatura/tensión del NIST - Monografía 175 revisada según ITS-90 para termopares de tipo K. Con el termómetro se entrega un termopar de tipo K.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

■ When measuring surface temperatures, the potential between the measured surface and earth ground must not exceed 24V AC or DC.

Voltages above 20V are dangerous. ■ Inspect the instrument and probe before every use. Do not use damaged parts. ■ Never ground yourself when taking measurements in electrical circuits. Do not touch exposed circuit elements or probe tip. ■ To avoid damage or burns, do not make temperature measurements in microwave ovens.

■ Do not operate instrument in an explosive atmosphere.

Caution: Repeated sharp flexing can break the thermocouple leads.

To prolong lead life, avoid sharp bends in the leads, especially near the connector.

Achtung: Bei wiederholtem scharfem Biegen können die Leiter des

Temperaturfühlers brechen. Um die Lebensdauer zu verlängern, vermeiden Sie scharfes Biegen der Leiter, speziell in der Nähe des Verbinders.

E • Preparación del termómetro para su uso - Desembalaje

El embalaje debe contener: el termómetro digital con cuatro pilas AAA de 1.5 V instaladas, una sonda de termopar tipo K de 1.2 m, un estuche de transporte suave y este manual. Si falta algún componente u observa daños, devuelva el conjunto al lugar donde lo adquirió para que se lo cambien.

E • Préparation pour l’Emploi - Déballage

Votre emballage doit contenir: un thermomètre numérique avec quatre piles 1.5V (installées), une sonde thermocouple de type K d’une longueur de 1.2m, une sacoche souple et ce manuel. Si une pièce manque ou est endommagée, ramenez l’ensemble au point de vente pour un échange.

MEASURING PROCEDURE

❶ Connect the K-type thermocouple probe to the instrument. ❷ Turn instrument on by sliding the function switch to the desired resolution

(1° or 0.1°). ❸ Push the selector key to select °C or °F (corresponding symbol appears on display). ❹ Apply the probe to the medium of which the temperature is to be measured. ➎ Read the measured temperature on the digital display.

DATA HOLD: When measuring in tight locations or dark areas you can push the DATA HOLD button to “freeze” the reading on the display. is displayed. Push the DATA HOLD button again to resume normal display of current value.

MAX HOLD: Push this button to monitor a temperature over a longer time period. is displayed. The maximum value is kept on the display and is updated each time a higher value is measured. Pressing

DATA HOLD while MAX recording is activated interrupts recording; pressing DATA HOLD again resumes recording. Press MAX HOLD again to return to normal measuring mode.

D• Meßprozeduren

❶ Typ K Temperaturfühler mit Gerät verbinden. ❷ Gerät einschalten durch

Funktionsschalter auf die gewünschte Auflösung zu schieben. (1° oder

0.1°). ❸ Wahltaste drücken um °C oder °F zu wählen (betreffendes

Symbol wird angezeigt). ❹ Temperaturfühler in den Meßbereich bringen.

➎ Meßwert ablesen.

Anzeigesperre: HOLD-Taste drücken um Anzeige festzuhalten. wird angezeigt. Erneut HOLD drücken um laufenden Meßwert anzuzeigen.

Spitzenwertspeicher (Max Hold): Diese Taste drücken um die

Temperatur über eine längere Zeitspanne zu überwachen. wird angezeigt. Der Maximalwert wird auf der Anzeige festgehalten und erneuert wenn ein höheher Wert gemessen wird. Durch während der

Spitzenwertmessung DATA HOLD zu drücken wird die Maximalwerterfassung unterbrochen. Durch DATA HOLD erneut zu drücken wird sie wieder erfaßt. MAX HOLD erneut drücken um zur normalen Messung zurückzukehren.

E • Procedimientos de Medida

❶ Conecte la sonda de termopar tipo K al instrumento. ❷ Encienda el instrumento deslizando el conmutador de selección a la resolución deseada (1° o 0.1°).

❸ Pulse la tecla selectora para seleccionar °C o °F

➎ Lea el valor de la tem- peratura en el visualizador digital.

Congelación de la lectura: Pulse la tecla HOLD para mantener una lectura congelada en el visualizador. Aparece en el visualizador. Pulse

MAINTENANCE & REPAIR

In case you do not obtain the expected measurement result: ❶ Check the batteries. ❷ Review the operating instructions for possible mistakes in operating procedure. ❸ Inspect the thermocouple probe for a broken or intermittent connection.

Except for the replacement of the batteries, repair of the thermometer should be performed only by the Factory or by a Factory Authorized

Service Center.

The front panel and case can be cleaned with a mild solution of detergent and water. Apply sparingly with a soft cloth and allow to dry completely before using.

D • Unterhalt & Reparatur

Prüfen Sie zuerst folgende Fehlerquellen: Meßkabel (Brüche),

Anschluß, Zustand von Batterie, richtiger Meßvorgang, Eingangs- und

Bereichsgrenzen, usw.

Mit Ausnahme des Batteriewechsels soll jede Reparatur nur durch eine durch Wavetek anerkannte Servicestelle durchgeführt werden.

Das Gerät kann mit einer milden Seifenlösung gereinigt werden.

Sparsam auftragen und vor Gebrauch gut trocknen lassen. Keine

Lösungsmittel zum Reinigen verwenden.

E • Maintenimiento Y Reparación

Para identificar la causa del problema: Compruebe la pila; revise las instrucciones de uso; inspeccione las puntas de prueba por si hay una conexión rota o intermitente.

Excepto la sustitución de la pila o el fusible, cualquier trabajo de reparación del multímetro debe hacerse exclusivamente por personal técnico cualificado para este tipo de reparaciones.

Para limpiar la carcasa puede utilizarse una solución suave de agua y detergente.

F • Maintenance & Réparation

Avant d’expédier votre multimètre pour réparation, vérifiez les cordons de mesure (rupture), pile, connections, procédure de mesure, limites d’entrée et de calibres, etc.

Excepté pour le remplacement de la pile et du fusible, toute réparation doit être effectuée uniquement par un Centre de Services agrée par

Wavetek.

Vous pouvez nettoyer le boîtier avec un détergent doux. Appliquez parcimonieusement et laissez sécher complètement avant utilisation.

Ne pas utiliser de solvents.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

Warning: For battery replacement, the instrument needs to be turned off, with probe removed.

It is best to replace the batteries as soon as the symbol appears in the display.

❶ Turn instrument face down and remove the screw. Slide battery hatch down and lift off.

❷ Remove the four 1.5V AAA size batteries and replace with same.

❸ Replace the battery hatch and and secure with screw.

Warning: Failure to turn off the instrument before installing the batter- ies could result in damage to the instrument and to the batteries if batteries are connected incorrectly to the thermometer.

E • Sustitución de las Pilas

Advertencia: Para evitar el peligro de descarga eléctrica, apague el instrumento y desconecte las puntas de prueba antes de abrir la tapa posterior.

Es mejor cambiar las pilas en cuanto aparezca el símbolo .

Ponga el instrumento boca abajo y quite el tornillo que fija la tapa de las pilas a la carcasa del instrumento.

❷ Extraiga las 4 pilas AAA de 1.5

V y cámbielas por otras equivalentes.

❸ Vuelva a poner la tapa y apri- ete el tornillo para fijarla a la carcasa.

Advertencia: Si no apaga el instrumento antes de cambiar las pilas, podría causar daños al instrumento y a la pila
