Spring Brings Increased Construction Activity and Hydrostatic Testing
Crews use caution signs and safety
barriers. The public is asked to
avoid construction sites.
Sections of pipe are strung along the
right-of-way, which may be beside a
road. Please use caution driving.
Dear Landowners and Public Officials:
I am pleased to report that we have
completed several portions of our
construction as noted on page two
of this newsletter. With more work
ahead, workers will be spread out
across the construction route to
replace the remaining segments
of Line 6B over the next several
months. You will be notified before
work begins on your property. Expect
crews on your property starting this
spring in Michigan and this summer
in Indiana.
Most activity will occur during daylight
hours. However, there are times
when extended work hours are
necessary. Land agents, a toll-free
phone number, email, and websites
are available should you have
questions or concerns.
Teams of specialized crews work in
an assembly line manner to complete
the replacement project:
•clearing right-of-way workspace;
•environmental preparations;
•actual construction including
stringing pipe, digging trench for
pipe, welding pipe sections together,
and laying pipe into the trench;
•backfilling; and
•re-contouring, clean-up, and
preparing right-of-way for restoration.
Crews are working to complete the
pipeline project safely and efficiently.
Enbridge is dedicated to high safety
standards. Following regulatory
requirements, a pipeline pressure
test (hydrostatic test) uses water to
confirm the integrity of the pipeline.
We will perform this hydrostatic
test on completed segments of the
replacement pipeline prior to putting
the pipeline into service. Landowners
and public officials will receive notice
of the test dates.
This month also kicked off our
community coffee and conversation
Line 6B pipeline project meetings.
The informal, hour-long meetings
allow idea and issue sharing among
landowners, stakeholders and
Enbridge. The first meeting was
April 10 in Stockbridge; meetings
will continue in May and June in
communities along the pipeline route.
Construction continues in Michigan;
and, in Indiana, construction is
expected to begin this summer.
With construction activity increasing
outside due to warmer weather, for
your safety and that of others, please
do not enter work areas. Thank you.

Before the pipeline is put into
service, a hydrostatic test will
be performed.
EMERGENCY RESPONDERS RECEIVE
SAFE COMMUNITY GRANTS
Enbridge has invested millions of dollars in
modern construction techniques and quality
pipe materials as well as implemented
advanced monitoring and inspection of our
pipeline systems.
While our goal is zero incidents, we remain
prepared should an emergency occur.
In addition to our emergency response
crews, we have relationships with local first
responders and invite them to participate
in training exercises.
Our Safe Community Grant program is
dedicated to providing grants to firstresponder organizations located along
our pipeline route to help underwrite
the cost of equipment or training. It’s a
voluntary opportunity for interested and
qualified organizations. The program builds
relationships and supports organizations
that would be an extension of our
response team should an incident occur.
In December 2012, Enbridge donated
$1,000 to the Groveland Township Fire
Department for a gas detector. Neighboring
Brandon and Oxford townships in Michigan
also received grants. And, in Indiana,
Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department
received $1,000 in January 2013 from the
Safe Community Grant Program.
