Date: 6/17/14 Issue #154 The Team Times Get Shredding Musco Gets New Secure Shred Containers Send ideas to “Ask Us” email address You may have noticed some new containers around Musco. The new gray containers are for paper to be shredded. This new service is being provided by Crossroads of Muscatine. It is secure and in compliance with all privacy laws. Items allowed to be shredded include white or colored paper, white computer paper, slick brochures (no magazines), white/light colored file folders without labels, letterhead and plastic window envelopes. The six new shred containers will be located: - Supply Closet - Quality Department - Purchasing Department - Manufacturing Services Office - Upstairs Sales Press box - Upstairs Mezzanine It is recommended that all Musco generated documents be shredded. United Way Update Each Fall Musco participates in the United Way campaign to help organizations in our community. The United Way’s mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good. Throughout the year the United Way works with many organizations and helps thousands of people in our community. Here are just a few of their past events and upcoming ones. Community Baby Shower In May, The United Way held a Community Baby Shower to raise baby items and money to donate to organizations and programs. They collected 1114 baby items valued at $3725. All of the items were distributed to the LSI HOPES Program, Domestic Violence Shelter, YMCA Family Services and Public Health. Food Rescue Program The United Way began a program in May where volunteers “rescue” food from local grocery stores that would be thrown out but is still good and take it local food pantries. In just the first month, they picked up and delivered over $22,000 in food that would have been discarded. Musco donated 25 recycle bags to help transport the food. Pack the Bus Help give every student in Muscatine the tools for learning! The United Way is running a pack the bus event to help nd provide school supplies to children who need them. Bring any school supplies to the 200 block of West 2 Street on th June 28 from 1pm – 4pm and help them pack the bus! Book Collection Children who grow up in households where books are plentiful go further in school than those without books. The United Way is collecting used books to hand out during the 4th of July parade. Please drop off any used children's books you would like to donate to their office at 208 W 2nd Street Suite 201.
