LEAGUE RULES

These League Rules and Playing Rules shall be overridden by the ‘Terms and Conditions of Business’ which
shall always prevail in the event of any dispute, ambiguity or inconsistency.
CAPTAIN’S ROLE
As the team captain you are agreeing to the Playing
Rules and Terms of Conditions of Business for the
Powerplay league as set out below and on the
website. It is the responsibility of the captain to be
the primary contact for the team and all players
involved. By allowing a player to take part in a club’s
match, you are confirming that a player is aware of
and will abide by these rules.
2.3
If for medical reasons gloves are required
then, on production of an appropriate
medical certificate the umpire may allow
gloves to be worn.
2.4
Head scarves are permitted. The material
used for the head covering should be soft,
without embellishments which might
constitute a danger and with potential
flowing/flapping edges held securely around
the neck or tucked into shirt collar. It should
be as neat and secure as possible.
2.5
No caps are to be worn while playing a
game.
2.6
Sunglasses are not permitted under any
circumstances.
2.7
Nails must be short and blunted, and will be
checked before every game.
3.
CONDUCT
3.1
There is to be no smoking either on or in
close proximity to the courts. Players in
violation of this rule will not be permitted
to play.
3.2
If any player (in the opinion of the umpire)
has consumed alcohol, then that player will
not be permitted to play in any matches
that night.
3.3
Umpires must be respected, listened and
adhered to at all times. If teams or players
have an issue with an Umpire please discuss
it with them at half time or afterwards.
3.4
Discrimination of any kind towards officials
or other players will not be tolerated and will
result in further action being taken by the
league, up to and including expulsion of
offending players and teams from the league.
NETBALL
1.
GENERAL
1.1
Players must be registered.
1.2
For Powerplay registered netballer
participants, your details may be passed to
England Netball under regulatory
requirements of Powerplay’s Accredited
association with England Netball. Details will
be used by England Netball to track
participation in the sport, for disciplinary
purposes, and to communicate and share
benefits with registered participants. It is a
condition of entry into Powerplay's netball
leagues and events that participants agree to
the sharing of this information.
2.
KIT
2.1
No item of jewellery, except a wedding ring
and/or medical alert bracelet, shall be worn.
If worn they must be taped. No adornment
that may endanger player safety shall be
worn.
2.2
Players must wear suitable clothes and
training shoes. Shoe laces must be securely
tied before a game. Time allowances will not
be given at any point for someone to tie their
shoe laces.
2.2
No form of glove may be worn when
playing netball.

DISCIPLINARY
5.1
The suspension (sin bin) process is:
Teams may not postpone any fixtures.
Powerplay reserves the right to postpone
fixtures at any time. Powerplay will
reschedule any such fixtures at no extra cost
to the teams involved.
5.1.1
Signal to the Timekeeper to hold time;
5.1.2
Advise the player of the reasons for
suspension and the time for this to apply;
5.1.3
Advise the Timekeepers of the length of the
suspension;
5.1.4
Signal to the Timekeepers and blow the
whistle for the game to be resumed.
5.2
The ordering off procedure is:
5.2.1
Signal to the Timekeeper to hold time
5.2.2
Advise the player of the reasons for the
ordering off

whistle for the game to be resumed
The Team Manager must inform Powerplay
if a team is going to cancel a fixture. If this is
done with 28 days’ or less notice the team
is liable for their own match fee as well as
that of the opposition, and they will forfeit
the game 10-0.
Any team not showing up for a match (or
arriving more than 10 minutes late) without
contacting the league in advance will lose
the match 10-0. The team will also be fined
the equivalent of one match fee, plus up to
£30 + VAT to cover administration.
Any team that ‘no-shows’ (3 points will be
deducted) or late cancels (i.e. after 4pm on
the day) on 3 occasions in one season may
be expelled from the league without
compensation. Late cancellations and
‘no-shows’ will also be taken into account
when inviting teams back for future seasons.
A team cannot withdraw from a league once
the league has begun. Any team that wishes
to pull out from a league with games still
remaining will still be obliged to pay the
league fees for the full season.
Powerplay has the right to expel any team
from a league if they believe there is due
cause. All such decisions will final.
If 75% of a match is played and the match is
subsequently abandoned then the result at
the time will stand. Exceptions to this rule
will be where Powerplay feels that this is
detrimental to the league, or if this would
benefit the team which caused the
abandonment. In such a case the offending
team may lose the game 10-0 and be
charged the opposition’s match fee, or be
required to fund a replay.

All umpires’ decisions are final. Intimidation
of referees will not be tolerated and will
result in further action being taken by the
league, up to and including expulsion of
offending players and teams from the league.
5.4
Discrimination of any kind towards officials
or other players will not be tolerated and will
result in further action being taken by the
league, up to and including expulsion of
offending players and teams from the league.
5.5
Powerplay reserves the right to ban or expel
any player or team from the league or take
any other disciplinary action as it deems
appropriate.
5.6
Any team knowingly fielding a suspended
player will forfeit that game 10-0 and will be
liable for the oppositions match fee.
