SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 5, 2009
The Marysville Exempted Village Board of Education met on the above date with the following
members present: Jeffrey Mabee, Scott Johnson, Thomas Brower and John Freudenberg.
Member Roy Fraker was absent.
CALL TO ORDER
President Jeffrey Mabee called the November 5, 2009, meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
ADOPT THE AGENDA
Mr. Mabee moved, seconded by Mr. Johnson to adopt the agenda for the special November 5,
2009, meeting with addendum and change.

STAFF RESIGNATIONS
Mr. Mabee moved, seconded by Mr. Johnson to accept staff resignations.

AMEND RETIREMENT DATE

AWARD CLASSIFIED CONTRACT
Mr. Brower moved, seconded by Mr. Mabee to award a two-year limited contract to Terry Jenkins
as custodian, effective September 9, 2009-June 30, 2011.

DISTRICT SUBSTITUTES/HOME INSTRUCTORS
Mr. Johnson moved, seconded by Mr. Mabee to employ substitutes/home instructors during the
2009-10 school year, on an as-needed basis. Employment is expressly conditioned upon receipt of
the employee’s BCI report, and completion of the declaration required by Ohio Revised Code
Section 2909.34, and will be immediately terminated without resort to Ohio Revised Code Section
3319.16 should such report indicate a prohibited conviction or unsatisfactory completion of the
declaration.

RESCIND SUPPLEMENTAL CONTRACTS
Mr. Mabee moved, seconded by Mr. Freudenberg to rescind the supplemental full-time contracts
of Michael Robertson as HS Choir and HS Musical. Positions have been changed to partial
contracts.

AMEND SUPPLEMENTAL CONTRACT
Mr. Freudenberg moved, seconded by Mr. Johnson to amend the 2009-10 supplemental contract
of Shannon Daniels as HS Assistant Girls’ Basketball coach from 50% to 75%.

SUPPLEMENTAL CONTRACTS
Mr. Mabee moved, seconded by Mr. Brower to employ certificated and non-certificated
individuals in supplemental positions for the 2009-10 school year, on an as-needed basis. Each
recommendation is being made in accordance with Section 3315.53 of the Ohio Revised Code and
Chapter 3301-27 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
Employment is expressly conditioned upon receipt of the employee’s BCI report, and completion
of the declaration required by Ohio Revised Code Section 2909.34, and will be immediately
terminated without resort to Ohio Revised Code Section 3319.16 should such report indicate a
prohibited conviction or unsatisfactory completion of the declaration. Employment is also
contingent upon completion of CPR training and Sports Medicine as required by the State of Ohio.

IMPRACTICALITY OF SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION
Mr. Johnson moved, seconded by Mr. Brower to approve payments in lieu of transportation. It is
our opinion that it is impractical to provide the required transportation. Thus, the families are
entitled to payments in lieu of transportation at the completion of the 2009-10 school year.
Reimbursement may not exceed the average per pupil cost of transportation by all Board’s of
Education in the state during the preceding year.
a) Parent Jami Gregory has requested payment in lieu of transportation for her children Trent
and Brady Gregory from their home to an out of district school, effective for the 2009-10
school year.
b) Parent Shayla Tennant has requested payment in lieu of transportation for her children Grace
and Lily Tennant from their home to an out of district school, effective for the 2009-10
school year.

to the District.
b) National Jobs for American Graduates (JAG) student will travel to Washington D.C.
November 18-22, 2009.

RESOLUTION OF “RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION”
Mr. Freudenberg moved, seconded by Mr. Mabee to approve a resolution of “Recognition and
Appreciation” in tribute to the Marysville High School Girls Golf Team for finishing fourth in the
Central District Division I Golf Tournament and placing first in the Ohio Capital Conference for
the 2009 season. With this resolution the Marysville Exempted Village Board of Education
recognizes the dedication and commitment of each team member.
