needs.
BI-MAX” has been designed considering all your needs: reducing
ironing strain, time and costs to the minimum, achieving just the same
excellent results. Our experience in this field, the care in manufacture
and the checks of all the equipment components allow us to ensure a
functional and long-lasting product.
Using “BI-MAX” requires few but important precautions: follow the
instructions for its correct use and you will take advantage from its
performances for a long time.

SAFETY RULES

Before use check if the network voltage corresponds to the one shown on the
label under the ironing system. Connect the appliance only to a proper power
socket, which must comply with the label data and be provided with an efficient
earth system.
In case the socket is incompatible with the appliance plug, have the plug
replaced by a proper one by professionally qualified personnel.
The electrical safety of this appliance is ensured only when it is correctly
connected to an efficient earth system as provided for by current electrical
safety standards. The manufacturer declines any responsibility for damages
caused by an improper earth system. In case of doubts contact qualified
technical personnel.
Do not leave the appliance containing water in harsh temperature
environments. After removing the package, make sure the appliance is
complete and undamaged. If in doubt, do not use the appliance and contact an
authorized centre.
Avoid using current adapters, multiple outlets, extension leads. If one of these
elements must be used, make sure they comply with safety standards and the
safety limit shown on the appliance label (do not exceed the maximum rated
capacity).
Do not keep the package (plastic bags, expanded polystyrene, etc.) within
reach of children: this helps to avoid accidents.
This appliance is suitable only for domestic use. Any other use must be
considered improper and, therefore, dangerous.
The manufacturer shall not be held responsible for damages caused by
unsuitable use or improper repairs carried out by non-qualified personnel.
Do not touch the appliance with wet hands or feet.
Do not use the appliance in bathroom.
Do not pull the power cord in order to withdraw the plug from the socket.
Do not leave the appliance outdoor, exposed to atmospheric agents such as
rain, sun, intense cold, etc.
Do not allow children or people with reduced capacities to use the appliance.
Do not immerse the appliance in water.
Before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance operations, disconnect the
appliance from the power supply by unplugging it.
In case of failure or malfunction of the appliance, turn it off and do not tamper
with it. For any repairs, contact only a Technical Assistance Centre authorized
by the manufacturer and ask for original spare parts. The non-observance of
this rule may affect the appliance safety.
When you decide that the appliance is at the end of its life cycle, after
disconnecting the plug from the power supply, it is recommended cutting the
power cord so as to render the appliance unfit for use.

The power cord of this appliance must not be replaced by the user, since its replacement requires
the use of special tools.

In case of damage to the power cord, or for its replacement, contact only an Assistance Centre
authorized by the manufacturer.

Avoid directing the steam jet towards people and/or animals, since this is extremely dangerous.
-
Do not put the ironing system directly under a tap in order to add water.
While the boiler is heating and/or cooling some noise might be heard due to the normal expansion
of the metal it is made of.
Absolutely avoid the contact between the hot soleplate and the cables.
If the thermal safety limiter is enabled, the appliance stops working. To restore the normal working
of the appliance, call a qualified technician.

Avoid using the iron on too wet fabrics.

The user should never leave the appliance unattended when it is connected to the power supply.

The control unit must not be moved during operation and must be placed on a level and heatresistant surface.

In case the ironing system falls and, therefore, the appliance is visibly damaged (boiler or iron),
avoid using it again and bring the appliance to an Assistance Centre for possible repair.
-
The ironing system should not be used in case of visible damages or leaks. Before using the
appliance again, contact a qualified Assistance Centre.

In case steam comes out of the cap valve (8), you must contact an authorized Assistance Centre
to check the cap integrity, even if the appliance still works properly.
-
Keep these instructions for future reference.
Do not fill the tank too much and do not mix water with stain removers, perfumes, and the like.
Never open the boiler cap (8) when the appliance is on or if there is steam pressure in the
boiler.
Unplug the appliance from the power supply and turn the main switch off when the appliance is not
in use. Do not leave the appliance plugged into the socket uselessly.
This appliance complies with the European Standard EN 55014 on radio interference suppression.
SUGGESTIONS FOR IRONING
Before beginning, make sure the fabric to be ironed is suitable for steam
ironing: read the warnings on the clothes label!

TANK FILLING FOR ELECTRONIC AUTOMATIC FILL

It is recommended using normal tap water. In case water is particularly hard (>14°dH/
>17.5° and >25.2°f), it is recommended mixing normal tap water and distilled water in
equal parts.
Before filling the tank, always unplug the appliance from the power socket.
Remove cap (11) and pour about 0.800 litres of water into the tank.
When the water in the tank is almost at the minimum level, a sound signals that a
new topping up is necessary.
Warning: ironing with no water in the tank may cause damages to the steaming
device.
PUTTING INTO OPERATION WITH AUTOMATIC ELECTRONIC SYSTEM
(Buttons 5 and 3 at the same time)
WARNING: WHEN USING THE AUTOMATIC SYSTEM, CAP (8) MUST ALWAYS BE CLOSED.

After filling the tank with water through cap (11) insert the plug into the power socket.
Press switches (3-5). The pilot lights switch on showing that the control unit and the iron
are on.
Select the desired temperature by turning the thermostat knob (10). When the knob is
set to the area included between “cotton – linen”, the iron uses steam.
The control unit takes about 5 minutes to reach the optimum pressure for ironing.
The steam pilot light (4) turns on showing that the appliance is ready for use.
Then it will turn off and this is absolutely normal. The light will turn on and off, and
ironing will proceed normally.
The water pilot light (2) is always switched on. Its switching off indicates a malfunction of
the automatic filling system.
While ironing, a buzzing coming from the control unit will be heard every now and then;
this is normal, it indicates that the pump is charging water.
At the first use, begin ironing on a common cloth in order to remove possible working
residues.
N.B.: At the first use of the appliance, it may exhale smoke and smell for some minutes
due to the heating and the following drying of the sealers used for assemblying the iron
and the boiler. For this reason, we recommend airing the room in order to remove the
bad smell.
For steam output from the soleplate, press the soleplate steam button (6).
For models provided with slider:
If you desire to obtain a continuous steam output, move the slider “continuous soleplate
steam” backwards while the steam button is pressed; to stop the steam output, move the
slider “continuous soleplate steam” located on the steam button forwards.

To always obtain excellent results, it is recommended pressing the steam button at intervals so that
the steam output is optimum and the iron is able to dry the fabric being ironed, too.

If during ironing you desire to immediately change the steam quantity that is being emitted,
turn the steam adjusting knob (7). The steam quantity will be more if you turn the knob clockwise, it
will be less if you turn the knob anticlockwise (Pict. 1)
IF THE AUTOMATIC FILLING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY, CLEAN THE
BOILER ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS ON PAGE “10”.
PUTTING INTO OPERATION WITH MANUAL FILLING
(Only button 5)

The appliance works with normal water. (It is possible to use distilled water, too).
-
The control unit takes about 8 minutes to reach the optimum pressure for ironing.
Before filling the boiler, always unplug the power cord from the power socket .
Unscrew cap (8) and pour about 0.600 litres of water into the boiler.
After closing cap (8) plug the power cord into the power socket.
Press button (5). The pilot light turns on showing that the boiler and the iron are switched on.
Select the desired temperature by turning the thermostat knob (10). When the knob is set to the area
included between “cotton – linen”, the iron uses steam.
The steam pilot light (4) turns on showing that the appliance is ready for use. Then it will turn off and
this is absolutely normal. The pilot light will turn on, and ironing will proceed normally.

At the first use, begin ironing on a common cloth.

This appliance can produce steam also in vertical position, in this way fabrics can be easily
freshened up.

If during ironing you desire to immediately change the steam quantity that is being emitted,
use the steam adjusting knob (7). The steam quantity will be more if you turn the knob clockwise

When the pilot light (2) turns off, the water in the boiler has run out.
For steam output, press the steam button (6).
To always obtain excellent results, it is recommended pressing the steam control button (6) at
intervals so that the steam output is optimum and the iron is able to dry the fabric being ironed, too.
To fill the boiler again in order to continue ironing, do as follows:

Allow all the remaining steam in the boiler to blow out by pressing button (6).
Switch off button (5).
Unplug the power cord from the power socket.
Now cap (8) can be opened very slowly to allow the possible remaining steam in
the boiler to come out of it.

VERTICAL IRONING
This appliance can produce steam in vertical position, thus allowing fabrics to be easily freshened up.
1. Set the iron thermostat knob (10) to the maximum position, at the end of the word “linen”.
2. Hang the cloth on a hanger and slightly hold it with your hand.
3. Pass the iron with a top-down movement, and press the steam button.
Important: it is advisable to put the soleplate in contact with fabrics in case of cotton or
linen, while it is preferable to keep it at a distance of some centimetres in case of more
delicate fabrics.
CLEANING AND LIMESCALE REMOVAL IN THE BOILER
We recommend cleaning the boiler at least once a year in order to maintain the performances of your ironing system
good as long as possible. Do not use detergents. If you want to carry out this procedure by yourselves, you can use a
non-toxic and/or non-harmful descaler for ironing systems, authorized by the manufacturer, according to the following
indications.

Always make sure the boiler is no more under pressure before unscrewing the boiler filling/emptying
cap (8).
Be careful the power cord is not plugged into the power socket.
Empty the water tank by removing cap (11).
Unscrew the boiler filling/emptying cap (8).
Turn the control unit upside down and empty the boiler in a container.
To remove limescale deposits from the boiler, rinse it several times, until water will be clean.
For an excellent cleaning of the boiler, dilute two descaler bags in ½ litre of water and pour the solution inside the boiler through the filling/emptying cap (8).
Close the cap and leave the solution inside the boiler for about 1 hour with the appliance set to the
working position, but disconnected and cold.
Then turn the ironing system upside down and leave the solution inside the boiler again for about 1
hour.
Unscrew the filling/emptying cap (8) and pour the whole content of the boiler in a container, being
careful to rinse with clean water for at least 4 times.
Close the filling/emptying cap (8) again.
Warning: never use the appliance while the boiler contains the descaling solution.
The non-observance of this procedure causes the warranty to be voided.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Do not use the appliance in case of malfunction during operation. For any repair, contact the
Assistance Centre authorized by the manufacturer and ask for original spare parts. Incorrect repairs
may damage the appliance.

The user must not replace the power cord, since this operation requires the use of special tools. Power
cords of damaged appliances must be replaced by authorized personnel only.
USEFUL SUGGESTIONS
-
It is recommended dividing clothes according to the temperatures shown on their label. Begin
ironing the items requiring low temperatures.

Keep the iron soleplate clean; clean it with a damp cloth, when it is cold. Do not clean the iron
soleplate with descalers if they are not authorized by the manufacturer. Avoid contact between the
soleplate and zips, hooks, rings, etc.

After use, place the iron on the proper mat. Make sure the soleplate is cold, water drops remaining
on it may cause stain formation.
-
After switching off, make sure the iron soleplate has completely cooled down, then put the
appliance away in a dry place.
-
While ironing, during the first minutes, some drops of water may come out of the soleplate. This
phenomenon is normal due to condensate and disappears after few minutes.

Assistance and warranty
“BI-MAX” professional ironing system is covered by warranty, according to the current
law, against all possible manufacturing faults, provided the use rules contained in this
manual are observed and according to the standards described below:
• the warranty provides for the free replacement of the faulty parts, provided the defect is not
caused by impacts, falls, fires, short circuits or it derives from improper use; freight
charges, both for collection and return, are not included, the cost shall be established at
the moment when the intervention is required, communicated in advance to the customer
and paid by him cash on delivery when the product is returned;
• the warranty does not cover the accessories and the parts of the product which are subject to
wear due to their normal use and the damages caused by the user’s negligence, by use
and installation which are incorrect, improper or not in compliance with the indications of
this manual. Furthermore, damages caused by events non depending on normal use, such
as, for example, faults of the user’s electric system or caused by atmospheric agents, are
excluded;
• the warranty and any other right expire if the product is tampered with or if whatever
intervention is carried out on it by unauthorized people.
