GFCI Ground Fault Protection Sensing Module
INTRODUCTION
The LineGard™ PGFM GFCI Sensing Module is a ground fault or equipment leakage sensing device
designed and manufactured by North Shore Safety, a leader in innovated safety products. The PGFM
operates in tandem with an approved Airpax LEL Series, UL 489 listed circuit breaker, with shunt trip
and auxiliary switch.
The combined assembly is recognized as a Class A UL 943 rated device. The sensing module is
available in models to operate at supply voltages of 120 VAC or 240VAC and can monitor single and
split phase circuits.
These devices meet the requirements of OSHA 29 CFR1926.404 (b)(1)(ii) and OSHA 29 CFR 1926.405 (a)
(2)(ii)(G) and are backed by a 2 year manufacturer’s warranty.

ELCI Marine Ground Fault Protection Sensing Module
INTRODUCTION
The LineGard™ PGFM product family provides ELCI (equipment leakage) ground fault sensing and is
designed and manufactured by North Shore Safety, a leader in innovative safety products. The PGFM
series operates in tandem with a Airpax ™ LEL series, UL 489 listed circuit breaker, with shunt trip and
auxiliary switch manufactured by Sensata Technologies.
The combined assembly of the PGFM and LEL series meets the requirements of ABYC E-11 for ground
fault protection and main shore power circuit protection.
The PGFM constantly monitors the current balance of the conductors (wires / cables) supplying power to
the load. When a ground fault of 27mA nominal (30 mA max) occurs, the PGFM uses the LEL’s shunt trip
coil to signal the breaker to trip.

ABYC E-11 ACCEPTABILITY
The LineGard™ PGFM ELCI module used in tandem with the Airpax™ LEL type circuit breaker meets the requirements of the ABYC
(American Boat and Yacht Council) E-11 standard covering AC and DC systems on boats. This standard states the following:
11.11.1
An Equipment Leakage Circuit Interrupter (ELCI) shall be installed with or in addtition to the main shore power disconnect
circuit breaker(s) or at the additional overcurrent protection as required by E-11.10.2.8.3, whichever is closer to the shore
power connection.
11.11.1.1 This device shall meet the requirements of UL 1053 Standard for Safety for Ground-Fault Sensing and Relaying Equipment
and the requirements of UL 943 Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters with the exception of trip level and trip time. Trip level shall
be set at a maximum of 30mA. The trip time shall be set at a maximum of 100ms.

TESTING AND TROUBLESHOOTING
1.Read and follow all instructions
2.Identify all the features and wires (see drawings)
3.Identify line wires and load wires
4.Verify that the ratings on the device including the circuit
breaker match your field line ratings
5.Strip wires to 5/8”, or as recommended for your connections
(module may include field terminations)
6.Choose the right wiring application (120VAC or 120/240VAC
split phase) and connect wires according to diagrams
7.Place supplied test instruction label in close proximity to the
ground fault sensing module mounting location.
In the normal operating state, the PGFM green LED is “ON” and
circuit breaker is in the “ON” position.
NOTE: The ground wire should be connected externally. The
Ground wire does not enter or exit the ground fault sensing
module. Although the PGFM does not require ground to operate,
ground connection is recommended and should be made at
junction box.
!
1.Press “TEST” button: Green LED should go “OFF” and red LED
should come “ON” and circuit breaker should trigger to “OFF”
position
2.If sensing device LED or breaker does not trip or change state,
DO NOT USE and consult an electrician for assistance
3.Press “RESET” button: Red LED should turn “OFF” and green
LED should turn “ON”
4.Manually reset (switch) the circuit breaker to the “ON”
position to restore circuit power
WARNING: If the test fails, do not use this GFCI. Consult a
qualified electrician for repair or replacement.

INTRODUCTION
The LineGard™ 20 Amp Portable Series is an industrial grade ground fault circuit interrupter designed and manufactured by North
Shore Safety, Ltd., a leader in innovated safety products. This product is the “Go Anywhere” protection device. Rated for 20 amps and
available at 120 VAC, 240 VAC, 208 VAC, or 277 VAC (UL 1053 compliant), the device is also available with either manual (safe start) or
automatic reset configuration. Standard offerings include products with plug and connector or flying leads for field configuring which
can be constructed into stand-alone cord sets or equipment integrated power supply cords. The product series is well suited for wet
location use with an achieved NEMA 4X rating.
Note that any power cord integrated with this device becomes OSHA compliant for portable power usage in confined space: OSHA 29
CFR 1926.404(b)(1)(ii) and 29 CFR 1926.405(a)(2)(ii)(G). Additionally, this product meets the requirements of NEC 590.6(a) & (b).

INTRODUCTION
The LineGard™ 40, 50 and 60 Amp Portable Series is an industrial grade ground fault interrupter device designed and manufactured by
North Shore Safety, Ltd., a leader in innovated safety products. These devices are designed for industrial and trade applications such
as welders, pumps, motors and generators and come standard with selectable key switching for fault level threshold, power on and
reset type (automatic vs. manual) settings.
As configured the device has three fault threshold settings of 6mA, 10mA and 30mA, with all engineered trip times of 25mS or less.
These units come standard with a 6’ primary cord and a 6’ secondary cord length with flying leads for field configuring. Integrated
NEMA or IEC 309 wiring devices are also available as factory customs. The enclosure is configured with floor mount feet but is
additionally supplied with wall or surface mounted feet for more permanent installations. All units are MADE IN THE USA and are UL
1053 Compliant.

INTRODUCTION
The LineGard™ 40, 50 and 60 Amp Permanent Series is an industrial grade ground fault interrupter device designed and manufactured
by North Shore Safety, Ltd., a leader in innovated safety products. These units are ideal for both new and existing circuit installations
and have a unique design that offers the flexibility of splicing this device anywhere within the length of a circuit run.(Note: ELCI only
protects downstream or “load side”) This convenience allows the installer to place this ELCI at an accessible location for the end user.
As configured the device has three fault threshold settings of 6mA, 10mA and 30mA, with all engineered trip times of 25mS or less.
These units come standard with 24” lead wires for electrical splicing and two 1” flexible conduit fittings for integration to 1” flexible or
burial conduit. All units are MADE IN THE USA and are UL 1053 Compliant.
