If your toaster should
malfunction or fail to operate,
please read the following:
• If the digital display is not visible on
models KTT460 or KTT570, turn the
Shade Control or press one of the
function buttons. The digital display
is designed to automatically turn off
to conserve energy.
• Check to see if the toaster is
plugged in; if it is, unplug the
toaster, then plug it back in again.
• Check the electrical circuit the
toaster is connected to. Is a fuse
blown, or a circuit-breaker tripped
in your home?
• Make certain the Easy Lift™ toaster
lever is fully raised before you place
bread into the slots.
• If the digital display on models
KTT460 or KTT570 blinks “0”, the
toaster is too hot and will not
operate. When the toaster cools to
a safe temperature, the display will
return to normal.
If the problem cannot be corrected
with the above steps, see the
“Warranty” on page 3. DO NOT
return the toaster to the retailer – they
do not provide service.

shock, this plug will fit in a polarized

not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the

qualified electrician. Do not modify
the plug in any way.

MODELS KTT460 and KTT570
Before using your toaster, check the
Extra-Wide, Extra-Long Slots and
remove any packing or printed
material that may have fallen inside
during shipping or handling. Do not
probe inside the toaster with a metal
object.
You may see light smoke the first
time you use the toaster. This is
normal. The smoke is harmless and
will soon disappear.
TO USE:
3. Insert bread or other food to be
toasted into slot.

4. Turn the Shade Control to select
the degree of darkness you want.
The digital display will show the
selected shade level. Turn the
Shade Control clockwise for darker
toast, counterclockwise for lighter.
Shade settings 1-3 are light, 4-6 are
medium, and 7-9 are dark.
Note: Different types of bread and
their moisture levels may require
different shade settings. For example,
dry bread will brown more rapidly
than moist bread and will require a
lighter setting. For even toasting,
toast only one bread type and
thickness at a time.
1. Shorten cord, if necessary, by
wrapping cord under the base.
2. Plug toaster cord into electrical
outlet. Digital display will default
to a shade level of 5.
Sleep Mode: If the toaster isn’t
used for 30 seconds, it will cycle
into “sleep mode” and the digital
display will shut off to conserve
energy. Turning the Shade Control,
pressing a function button, or
lowering the Easy Lift™ lever will
instantly wake-up the toaster.
When the toaster is in “sleep
mode”, turning the Shade Control
a single “click” or detent will
wake-up the toaster, but not alter
the previously set shade level.
Your KitchenAid® Toaster has been
designed to quickly and evenly toast
two slices of bread per slot. To toast
a single slice, place the bread in the
center of the slot and turn the Shade
Control to a lower setting to avoid
over-browning.
