Enable Location Tracking in Google Chrome
Upon initial access to the AgOS web application, the user will be prompted to allow AgOS to
utilize your current geo-reference as a default view for mapping. When prompted,
click Allow when prompted with a message similar to the one shown above.
If you are not prompted, follow the steps below to enable within Google Chrome:

If you do not already have Google Chrome installed, it can be downloaded
here: https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/
Enabling GPS Tracking within Google Chrome:

Click on the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
Click on Settings.
Click Show Advanced Settings
In the "Privacy" section, click Content Settings.
In the dialog that appears, scroll down to the "Location" section.
Select your default permission for future location requests:
o
"Allow all sites to track my physical location:"
 Select this option to let all sites automatically access your location.
o "Ask me when a site tries to track my physical location:"
 Select this option if you want Google Chrome to alert you whenever a site
requests your location.
o "Do not allow any site to track my physical location:"
 Select this option to automatically deny site requests to your location.
If you would like to manage discreet sites, click Manage Exceptions to remove previously
granted permissions for specific sites.
How does Google Chrome determine your location?
If you allow Google Chrome to share your location with a site, the browser will send local
network information to Google Location Services to get an estimate of your location. The
browser can then share your location with the requesting site.

Search for a Customer
Use Steps:
1. Within the left-hand panel, begin typing the desired Customer's name within the
box labeled Customer Filter
o Users have the ability to search customer by first name, last name, or by
common name
 Example: Customer, Pattie Myrick, can be found by typing
"Myrick", "Pattie", or "Pattie Myrick".
2. Once the customer has been located, click on the customer name in the view.
o This will expand the Customer node to display available objects such as
Farms, Fields, and Activities.

Add a Farm
Use Steps:
1. Click on the Map tab.
2. Within the left-hand panel, search for the desired customer.
o If you need further assistance with this step, go to
Searching for a Customer
3. Right-click on the Customer.
4. Select Add > Farm
o The Farm Properties window will be displayed.
5. Fill out the appropriate information within the Farm Properties form.
6. When complete, click OK to save.

Edit a Farm
7. Click on the Map tab.
8. Within the left-hand panel, search for the desired customer.
o If you need further assistance with this step, go to

9. Right-click on the Customer.
10. Select Add > Farm
o The Farm Properties window will be displayed.
11. Fill out the appropriate information within the Farm Properties form.
12. When complete, click OK to save.

Add a Field
1. Click on the Map tab.
2. Within the left-hand panel, search for the desired customer.
o If you need further assistance with this step, go to

3. Click on the Customer to expand the node to view the list of Farms.
4. Right-click on the desired Farm.
o If you need to add a new Farm before proceeding, the use steps can be
found here: Add a Farm
5. Select Add > Field
o The Field Properties window will be displayed.
6. Fill out the appropriate information within the Field Properties form.
7. When complete, click OK to save.

Edit a Field
Use Steps: Click on the Grower, then Farm, to expand the node to view the list of Fields
1. From the Home tab, access Mapping either by clicking on the Map tab or by
clicking on the Map button within the dashboard.
2. Within the left-hand panel, search for the desired customer.
o Searching for a Customer
3. Click on the Customer to expand the node to view the list of Farms.
4. Click on the Farm to expand the node to view the list of Fields.
5. Right-click on the desired Field.
6. Within the pop-up menu, click Properties.
o The Field Properties window will be displayed.
7. Edit the appropriate information within the Field Properties form.
8. When complete, click OK to save.

Add a Field Boundary
Use Steps: Click on the Grower, then Farm, to expand the node to view the list of Fields
1. Click on the Map tab.
2. Within the working space, locate the desired location on the map.
o Assuming Location Tracking is enabled, by default, the map imagery will focus your
current physical location.
 For more information on enabling location tracking, go
Enable Location Tracking in Google Chrome.
3. Within the left-hand panel, search for the desired customer.
o If needed, go to Searching for a Customer for more information.
4. Click on the Customer to expand the node to view the list of Farms.
o If needed, go to Creating a Farm for more information on adding a new Farm.
5. Click on the Farm to expand the node to view the list of Fields.
o If needed, go to Creating a Field for more information on adding a new Field.
6. Select Add > Field Boundary

7. Within the left-hand panel, right-click on the Field Boundary node and select
Add > Contour.
8. Drawing tools will be displayed in the top left side of the map imagery (working space).
 You can:
 Draw a free form contour by clicking on the polygon button.
 Draw a rectangular contour by clicking on the rectangular button.
 Draw a circular contour by clicking on the circular button.

1. Once you have selected your drawing tool, your mouse button will be changed to
cross-hairs.
2. If you are creating a:
o Free form or pentagon contour, begin drawing the field boundary by
clicking on the map imagery to create vertices.
 When you return to the starting vertex, then the mouse pointer will
change and the user can click once more to close the contour.
3. When you are finished drawing and “Click the first point to close this shape” your
field boundary will automatically be saved.

Rename a Contour
Use Steps: Click on the Grower, then Farm, to expand the node to view the list of Fields
1. The Contour will default with a time-stamp of the month/day/year and time the contour is
created.
2. To rename the Contour right-click on the contour and select Rename.
3. A pop-up window will appear with a text box to edit the name of the contour. Type in the
new name of the contour. In this example it’s renamed to “Field Boundary 12/10/13
8:48am)
4. Click OK to save the new name of the contour

Use Steps: Click on the Grower, then Farm, to expand the node to view the list of Fields
1. Click on the Field to expand the node to view the list of Activities.
2. Click on Field Boundary to expand the node to view the list of Contours.
o After clicking on the contour, the map imagery should have dynamically
updated to focus on the appropriate location.
3. On the map imagery, right-click on the desired contour.
4. Within the pop-up menu, click Edit Boundary.
o The map imagery will change to display all of the available vertices that
make up the Field Boundary contour.
5. Drag the vertices to the desired locations to modify the contour shape.
6. When done, right-click on the contour.
7. Within the pop-up menu, click Stop Edit Boundary.
8. The modifications will automatically be saved.

9. You can also add a “hole” in the field for waterways, trees, etc. by holding down the
“Shift” key then begin drawing around the section that you would like to dismiss from the
field boundary
10. When done, right-click on the contour and within the pop-up menu, click Stop Edit
Boundary.
11. The system will then automatically recalculate acres and you can click Yes to select the
calculated acres (49.93) or No to keep the current acres (67).
12. After this selection your modifications will then be saved.

Delete a Field Boundary - Contour
1. From the Home tab, access Mapping either by clicking on the Map tab or by
clicking on the Map button within the dashboard.
2. Within the left-hand panel, search for the desired customer.
o If needed, go to Search for a Customer for more information.
3. Click on the Customer to expand the node to view the list of Farms.
4. Click on the Farm to expand the node to view the list of Fields.
5. Click on the Field to expand the node to view the list of Activities.
6. Click on Field Boundary to expand the node to view the list of Contours.
o After clicking on the contour, the map imagery should have dynamically
updated to focus on the appropriate location.
7. Right-click on the Contour you with to Delete.
o After Right-clicking on the Contour a Context Menu will appear.
8. Click on Delete Boundary.
9. A notification will pop up asking to confirm the deletion. Click Yes.
10. After a reload the Field Boundary and Contour will be removed from the lefthand navigation tree.

Overview of Activities / Management Zones



Definition of a Management Zone: “An area of land having a particular
characteristic, purpose, or use, or subject to particular restrictions.”
There are several different types of Management Zones, each will be displayed
in a different color on the map.
o The picture above displays the map with weed management zones
displayed.
Management Zones can be used to visually denote weed scouting, pest
infestations, different seed varieties on a field, areas of application, etc.
o Some zones can be created with additional metadata allowing you to
specify additional information such as the crop, growth stage, weed
height, damage level, etc.

Add an Activity / Management Zone
Use Steps: Click on the Grower, then Farm, to expand the node to view the list of Fields
1. On the desired field, right-click and select Add > Weed Scouting
o The Select a Management Zone Activity Dialog form will be displayed.

2. Within the pop-up form, fill-out the details of the weed scouting activity for this
management zone.
o Name: Select a contour for this activity
1. Create New – draw a new contour for this activity (drawing tools appear)
2. Field ID Number – copy the “whole” field boundary contour for this activity
o Current Crop: Select the current crop for this field (Wheat-Soft White Winter)
o Select a weed: Select the specific weed that you are scouting for with this activity
o Weed Density: Select the density of this specific weed
o Weed Height: Select the height of this specific weed
o Weed Stage: Select the stage of this specific weed
o Crop Growth State: Select the stage of the crop’s growth for this activity.
3. Click on ADD WEED ACTIVITY TO ZONE.

4. The Weed Activity and Contour will be added under the Field Boundary in the left-hand
navigation tree.
5. The Weed Management Zone contour will be visible in green on the right-hand side
mapping imagery.
6. You can rename this Management Zone contour by right-clicking on the contour and
select Rename.
7. You can turn off visibility of the contour by clicking on the “eyeball” icon next to the
contour.

Export a Shape File (Download Shapfile)
1. From the Home tab, access Mapping either by clicking on the Map tab or by clicking on the Map
button within the dashboard.
2. Within the left-hand panel, search for the desired customer.
o If needed, go to Search for a Customer for more information.
3. Click on the Customer to expand the node to view the list of Farms.
4. Click on the Farm to expand the node to view the list of Fields.
5. Click on the Field to expand the node to view the list of Activities.
6. Click on the Field Boundary to expand the node to view the Contours.
7. Right-click on the Contour and Click on Download Shapefile to export the shapefile to your
computer.
8. A Zip File with the .dbf, .shp, .shx files will automatically be downloaded to your computer.

Import a Shape File (Download Shapfile)
1. From the Home tab, access Mapping either by clicking on the Map tab or by clicking on
the Map button within the dashboard.
2. Within the left-hand panel, search for the desired customer.
o If needed, go to Search for a Customer for more information.
3. Click on the Customer to expand the node to view the list of Farms.
4. Click on the Farm to expand the node to view the list of Fields.
5. Click on the Field to expand the node to view the list of Activities.
6. Right-click on the Field and select Import ShapeFile.
7. The Upload Test Results pop-up menu will appear to Import Shape Files.
8. Click the DBF: Browse Button to retrieve the DBF Shape File information from your
computer.
9. Click the SHP: Browse Button to retrieve the DBF Shape File information from your
computer.
10. Click the SHX: Browse Button to retrieve the DBF Shape File information from your
computer.
11. Once you have the needed Shape File information, click the Upload button. Your Shape
Files will be added to your Activity.
