Flood Bucket List Instructions - Living Savior Lutheran Church

Flood Buckets
With the right materials, many families can begin the overwhelming job of
cleaning up after a flood on their own. Put together Flood Buckets using the
following instructions:
Flood Bucket value: approximately $60
Bucket Contents:
1 Five scouring pads
2 Seven sponges, assorted sizes (at least one fairly hefty for washing mold)
3 One scrub brush
4 Eighteen cleaning towels (reusable, like Easy Wipes®)
5 One 50-78 oz. box dry laundry detergent
6 One 12 oz. bottle of liquid concentrated household cleaner (like Lysol®)
7 One 25 oz. bottle liquid disinfectant dish soap (like Dawn®)
8 One package of 48-50 clothespins
9 Clothesline, two 50 ft. or one 100 ft.
10 Five dust masks
11 Two pairs latex gloves (long heavy-duty, like Playtex® dishwashing gloves,
12 not the thin ones sold for painting etc.)
13 One pair work gloves
14 28-bag roll of heavy-duty trash bags (30-45 gallon)
15 One 6-9 oz. bottle of insect repellent (pump, drops or lotion, not aerosol)
Please provide all liquids in new, unopened plastic bottles. Be sure to send only
new materials. Place all items in the plastic bucket, making sure they are packed
securely to avoid damage during shipment
Please Note: Do NOT substitute items, add items, or leave items out of the buckets.
If the requested item size is not available, go down to the next available size.
Suggestions from Lutheran Disaster Response: Many items can be purchased at
local dollar stores at a substantial savings. The Lysol cleaner can be difficult to
find - be sure it is a concentrated formula (we were able to find it at the Walmart at
Fairlakes). If things are in boxes (like the trash bags), you can remove the box to
conserve space in the bucket and can remove packaging from dust masks and place
them in a zip lock bag.
Additional note:
If you take a bucket(s), please sign it out (they are numbered) so we can make sure
we have accounted for everyone’s donation. We can provide an acknowledgement
of receipt of the filled bucket, which together with your receipts, you can use for
tax purposes. Put a check mark (in permanent marker) by each item that is in the
bucket.
