Replace Tecumseh Compressor Model AE9415Z
With Tecumseh Compressor Model AE4430A-AA1A,
115V/60/1
APPLIES TO OPEN-TOP UC4427, UC4432 & UC4448 MODELS
Removal of the Defective Compressor
1. Unplug unit.
2. Using 5/16’’ nut driver, remove back cover.
3. Recover refrigerant charge R404A.
4. Remove the (4) 5/16’’ screws that hold the condenser
base to the cabinet, and pull the base away from the
unit.

5. Un-braze refrigeration lines from compressor suction
and discharge ports.
6. Remove compressor junction box cover and disconnect
electrical wiring.
7. Remove compressor mounting hardware clips and
washers.

8. Lift up on compressor and move off the base.

Copper Tee, 5/16” X ¼” X ¼”
High pressure cut-out switch
Copper reducer from 3/8” to 5/16”
1. Complete through step six while the compressor is out.
2. Install high pressure switch by un-brazing discharge
line from the condenser coil.

3. Use the 5/16” X ¼”X ¼” copper Tee provided to rejoin
the lines and to braze the high pressure switch. The
high pressure switch should be mounted with the
connection terminals pointing upward.
2. Use the new wire harness supplied with the service kit.
3. Connect the two orange leads with female quick
connects to the high pressure switch.
4. Connect the orange wire and white wire with female
terminals to the condenser fan motor.
5. Remove the overload from the new compressor
junction box and connect the orange wire with the ring
terminal to the overload.
6. Connect the white wire with the ring terminal to the
relay on the compressor.

4. Replace the filter drier.
5. Insert grommets in the outer compressor mounting
flanges.
6. Remove electric junction box cover from the
compressor.
7. Place replacement compressor on the same four
supporting posts on the condenser base.
7. The two remaining male terminals connect to the unit
wiring.
8. Place washers back on the pins and insert all four clips
in the posts.
9. Reconnect suction and discharge lines using the
reducer copper piece provided on the suction side
tubing. This will require re-piping.
10.Add process tubing to the process port.
11.Braze all the connections while passing nitrogen
through the system.
12.Vacuum the system.
13.Verify that the system holds vacuum.
Final Check
14.If no leak is found, then charge unit with R404A by the
amount shown on the unit nameplate.
1. Remove all tools and supplies that do not belong to the
condensing unit.
Wiring of the Replacement Compressor
1. Disconnect and discard the original wire harness.
2. Replace compressor junction box cover.
3. Plug the power cord in a 115/60/1 electric outlet.
4. With power on, the compressor and fans should start
running.
5. Cabinet should cool down and in due course cycle off.
6. Verify unit is functioning correctly.
7. Restore cabinet to the original condition.
8. Return unit to its original location.
