3. General features
The stove must be placed inside living environments. As it is controlled by an electronic board, it allows a
fully automatic and controlled combustion: the control unit adjusts the ignition phase, the 5 power levels
and the switch-off phase, guaranteeing a safe operation.
Most of the ash falls in the collection drawer through the basket used for the pellet combustion. Daily
check the basket is clean: since not all pellets have high quality standards, it may leave residues difficult
to remove. The glass is fitted with a special air circulation for self-cleaning: however, a light greyish
patina on the glass cannot be avoided after a few hours of operation.
As previously mentioned, the stove must be fed with 6 mm pellets, but may also operate with differently
sized pellets: in this case, contact your Pasqualicchio dealer for technical advice.
3.1 Liability
By delivering this manual, Pasqualicchio declines any liability, civil and criminal, for accidents due to the
partial or total non-compliance with the instructions contained therein.
Pasqualicchio declines any liability for improper use of the stove, incorrect use by the user, unauthorised
changes and/or repairs, use of non-original spare parts.
The manufacturer declines any direct or indirect civil or criminal liability due to:

3.2 Spare parts
Only use original spare parts. Do not wait for components to wear out before replacing them. Replace a
worn component before it is completely broken in order to prevent any accidents caused by the sudden
failure of the components. Perform periodic maintenance checks as described in the dedicated chapter.
3.3 What are wood pellets?
The pellet is composed of sawdust and wood chips produced in carpenters shops. The material used cannot
contain any foreign substance such as glue, lacquer or synthetic substances. The timber is pressed through
a die with holes: due to the high pressure, the sawdust heats activating the natural binders of the wood; in
this way the pellet retains its shape even without adding artificial substances. The density of the wood
pellet varies depending on the type of wood and can exceed 1.5-2 times that of natural wood. The
cylindrical rods have a 6-10 mm diameter and a length varying between 10 and 50 mm. Their weight is
equal to about 650 KG/m. Due to the low water content (8-10%), they have a high energy content. The DIN
51731 Standards define the quality of the pellets:
Length
Diameter
Real weight
Heating Value
approx. 10 - 30 Residual humidity

approx. 6 - 10 Ash
mm
approx.
650 Specific weight
Kg/m³
approx.
4.9
kWh/Kg
approx. 6 - 12 %
<1.5%
>1.0 Kg/dm³
The pellets must be transported and stored in dry places. Upon contact with humidity they swell, becoming
useless: therefore, protect them against humidity both during transport and during storage. Pasqualicchio
recommends a 6 mm pellet. If wanting to use a differently sized pellet, contact the assistance centre for
the due adjustments of the stove.
3.4 How is the stove made
This drawing shows the internal parts of a pellet stove. By filling the tank (7), the pellet is loaded in the
brazier (3) through the load auger (1). Ignition occurs via the resistance (2) that heats the air coming from
the opposite inlet (5), which in contact with the pellet allows the flame to develop. The discharge fumes are
now diverted to the stainless steel exchanger (6) and, through the fumes intake duct (4), are discharged in
flue via connection made with the fumes discharge (8).

3.5 The combustion
The combustion is nothing more than a chemical reaction where two reactants, called fuel and oxidising
agent, combine to produce new substances. As a result of this reaction there is also a significant amount of
heat (concept of operation of the pellet stoves). To facilitate the above expression, consider this practical
ENGLISH
5
Il caldo ecologico
diagram called "combustion triangle"; it consists in three elements that are necessary for the combustion
reaction to take place.
These three elements are:
• fuel (Pellet)
• oxidising agent (Oxygen in air)
• source of ignition (Electric ignition resistance)
The fuel and oxidising agent must be of appropriate proportions to ensure that combustion takes
place within the so-called "flammability range".
The reaction between fuel and oxidising agent is not spontaneous but takes place due to an
external source of ignition. The flash point can be, for example, a source of heat or a spark. The
flash point is the activation energy that is required by the molecules of reagents to start the
reaction and must be supplied from the exterior (Electric ignition resistance). As a result, the
energy released by the reaction makes it possible to sustain itself.
4. SAFETY DEVICES
The stove is fitted with sophisticated safety systems that prevent the occurrence of damages to the stove
and/or to the living environment in case of failure of one of the single parts or damage to the flue.
However, upon the occurrence of a problem, the falling of the pellet is immediately interrupted and the
switch-off phase is activated. The corresponding alarm appears on the display. Details are available in the
alarm chapter.
5. POSITIONING, ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION
5.1. Working environment
The positioning of the stove inside the living environment is crucial to be able to evenly heat the
environment itself. Before deciding where to place the stove, consider that:
• the stove must be installed on a floor with adequate load capacity.
If the existing construction does not meet this requirement, appropriate measures must be taken (e.g. load
distributing plate);
• the combustion air cannot be drawn from a garage or space without ventilation or air recirculation, but
from an open or outdoor space;
• installation in the bedroom, bathrooms or shower is forbidden, and where there is already another
heating appliance without independent air intake (fireplace, stove, etc.);
• installation in an environment with explosive atmosphere is forbidden;
• in case of wood floors, install a floor protective platform (glass or steel slab);
• installation in a large room and in the centre of the house is preferable to ensure maximum circulation of
heat;
• connection to the current is recommended via an earth socket (if the provided cable is not long enough to
reach the nearest socket, use a floor cord);
• according to the installation standard and standard in force in the country, the stove must be installed in
a place where air necessary for pellet combustion can flow (about 40m3/h must be available): the size of
the environment must not be less than 30 m3.
• The appliance installation must guarantee easy access to clean the appliance itself, the exhaust gas ducts
and the flue.
The stove must be installed and assembled by qualified personnel. The environment must be:
• prepared at the environmental operating conditions
• prepared with adequate smoke evacuation system
• equipped with 230V 50Hz power supply (EN73-23)
ENGLISH
6
Il caldo ecologico
• equipped with external ventilation (minimum section of 100 cm2)
• equipped with CE compliant earthing system
The stove must be connected to SINGLE flue or vertical indoor or outdoor pipe in compliance with
standards in force.
• The fumes derive from the combustion of wood: therefore, they may leave halos if in contact with
walls.
• It is not compulsory to connect the stove's air inlet directly to the outside, but at least 50 m3/h of air
must be guaranteed.
• It is strictly forbidden to use an net at the end of the discharge pipe, as this may cause the stove to
malfunction.
• It is necessary to always use pipes and fittings with adequate silicone gaskets that ensure tightness of
the smoke duct.
• For in flue connection do not use more than 3 curves at 90° and no more than 2-3 m horizontally.
• IMPORTANT! if the product is installed near flammable walls, it is compulsory to respect the minimum
safety distances indicated on the label on the back of the product. If the product is installed near NON
flammable products, no specific safety distances are required.
5.2 EXAMPLES OF INSTALLATION
FIG.9
This type of installation (See Fig. 9) requires an insulated flue, as
the entire smoke duct has been fitted outside the home. A "T"
type connection with inspection cap has been mounted in the
lower part of the flue. We recommend installing as first initial
piece, a curve at 90°, as the ash would quickly obstruct the smoke
passage, causing problems to the draught of the stove.
RAIN PROTECTION
insulated FLUE
This type of installation (See Fig. 5) requires an insulated flue, as the entire smoke
duct has been fitted inside the home. A "T" type connection with inspection cap has
been mounted in the lower part of the flue. We recommend installing as first initial
piece, a curve at 90°, as the ash would quickly obstruct the smoke passage, causing
problems to the draught of the stove.

Il caldo ecologico
This type of installation (See Fig. 10) does not require an insulated flue, as part of
the smoke duct has been fitted inside the home and part of it inside the already
existing flue.
A "T" type connection with inspection cap has been mounted in the lower part of
the stove.
We recommend installing as first initial piece, a curve at 90°, as the ash would
quickly obstruct the smoke passage, causing problems to the draught of the
stove.
Note the use of two curves at 45°, so as to allow the ash to fall inside the "T"
connection with inspection.
This type of installation (See Fig. 7) does not require an insulated flue for the
section inside the home, while for the outdoor section, it is compulsory to use an
insulated pipe. A ''T'' type connection with inspection cap has been mounted in the
lower part of the flue inside the home. Another one has been mounted outdoor so
that the section can be inspected.
We recommend installing two curves at 90°, as the ash would quickly obstruct the
smoke passage, causing problems to the draught of the stove.

5.3 Malfunctions related to draught defects of the flue or critical climatic conditions
Among all weather and geographical factors influencing the operation of the flue (snow, rain, altitude asl,
fog, etc..), wind is certainly the most decisive. In addition to the thermal depression induced by the
temperature difference between the inside and outside of the flue, there is another type of depression: the
dynamic pressure caused by the wind which influences the operation of the fireplace.
THEREFORE, THE OPERATION OF THE PELLET STOVE IS SIGNIFICANTLY INFLUENCED BY THE POSITION AND
CONFORMITY OF THE FLUE. PRECARIOUS CONDITIONS MAY ONLY BE RESOLVED WITH AN ADEQUATE
SETTING OF THE STOVE BY PASQUALICCHIO AUTHORISED TECHNICIANS.

10. Cleaning and maintenance
Take the following precautions before performing any maintenance on the stove:
• Make sure that all of the stove parts are cold;
• Make sure the ashes are completely extinguished;
• Make sure the main switch is at OFF;
• Disconnect the plug, thus avoiding any accidental contacts;
• At the end of maintenance, check that all is order as before the intervention (the brazier correctly
placed).
Please follow these cleaning instructions carefully.
Not paying attention to these instructions could create
problems in the operation of the stove.
10.1 Cleaning the combustion chamber (monthly)
With stove cold and off proceed as follows:
Extract the rod wiper with the door closed.
Activate the rod wiper 5/6 times by pulling and pushing the
lever to ensure the exchange pipes are clean.
At the end of the operation leave the lever extracted to
facilitate disassembling the parts inside the combustion
chamber.

Extract the external fire beater bulkheads by simply shifting them towards you without turning them. If
necessary use a screwdriver or similar tool to remove the bulkheads. Remove the central bulkhead from
the combustion chamber
Extract the bottom of the combustion chamber using a screwdriver; it is compulsory to start from the right

10.2 Cleaning the surfaces
To clean the surfaces use a cloth dampened with water or water and mild soap.
ENGLISH
16
Il caldo ecologico
The use of aggressive detergents or cleaning agents could damage
the stove’s surface. Before using any cleaner, we recommend that
you test it on a hidden part of the stove or that you contact an
Authorised Assistance Centre for advice.
10.3 Cleaning the metal parts
To clean the metal parts of the stove use a soft cloth, dampened with water.
Never clean metal parts using alcohol, thinners, benzene, acetone or other degreasers. Our company
declines any liability if these substances are used.
Any change in shade of the metal parts may be attributable to an inadequate use of the stove.
ATTENTION:
Cleaning the brazier should be done daily and the ash drawer
periodically. Inadequate cleaning, or a lack of cleaning can, in some
cases, prevent the stove from igniting with consequential damage to
the stove itself and to the environment (with emissions of soot and
unburnt components). Do not re-use or re-insert any pellets found in
the brazier as a result of a failed ignition.
10.4 Cleaning the brazier and its support
When the flame becomes a shade of red or is weak, accompanied
by black smoke, it means there are ash or deposits that do not
allow proper operation
of the stove and that must be removed. Remove the brazier by
simply lifting it from its seat on a daily basis; remove the ash and
any deposit formed, paying particular attention to clear the
clogged holes by using a pointed tool (not supplied with the stove).
This operation is necessary the first few times at each ignition,
especially if using different pellets to those recommended by the
manufacturer. The frequency of this operation is determined by
the frequency of use and by the chosen pellet. Also check the brazier support by vacuuming any ash using a
vacuum cleaner.
10.5 Daily cleaning using rod wipers (where present)
With stove off and cold, activate the rod wiper of the heat exchange duct 5/6 times by pulling and pushing
the lever located between the front grids from where the ambient air comes out.

10.6 Cleaning the glass
The glass is self-cleaning so, while the stove is running, a veil of air flows along the glass surface keeping
ash and dirt away; nevertheless, a greying patina will form over a few hours that must be cleaned at first
stove switch-off. Fouling of the glass also depends on the quantity and quality of the used pellet. The glass
must be cleaned with stove cold, using the products recommended and tested by our company. When this

operation is carried out, always check if the grey gasket around the glass is in good condition; failure to
check the efficiency of this gasket may jeopardise the operation of the stove. However, poor quality pellet
may cause fouling of the glass.
ATTENTION! Do not attention igniting the stove if the glass is broken
10.7 Cleaning the discharge system
Until reasonable experience on the operating conditions is acquired, we recommend performing this
maintenance at least once a month.
• Disconnect the power supply cable;
• Remove the cap from the T connection and clean the ducts; if necessary, at least for the first few times,
contact qualified personnel;
• Accurately clean the smoke discharge system: for this purpose, contact a professional chimney sweeper;
• Remove dust, cobwebs, etc. from the area behind the inner covering panels once a year, particularly the
fans.
10.8 Cleaning the fans
The stove is equipped with fans (ambient and fumes) located in the back and bottom of the stove itself.
Any dust or ash deposits on the fan blades lead to an imbalance that causes noise during operation.
Therefore, clean the fans at least once a year. Since this operation entails disassembling some parts of the
stove, contact our Authorised Assistance Centre to clean the fan.
10.9 End of season cleaning
At the end of season, when the stove is no longer used, we recommend a more accurate and general
cleaning:
• Remove all pellets from the tank and auger;
• Accurately clean the brazier, its support, the combustion chamber and the ash drawer.
If the above points have been observed, this entails only a check of the stove condition. It is necessary to
accurately clean the discharge pipe or the flue and check the conditions of the basket: if necessary, order it
from the Authorised Assistance Centre. If necessary, lubricate the door and handle hinges. Also check the
ceramic fibre rope near the glass, on the inner wall of the door: order if from the Authorised Assistance
Centre if worn or too dry.
10.10 Operations to be carried out every season before ignition
• General cleaning inside and outside;
• Accurate cleaning of exchange pipes;
• Thorough cleaning and de-scaling of the brazier and its compartment;
• Cleaning of motors, mechanical check of clearance and hardware;
• Cleaning of smoke duct (replacement of gaskets on pipes) and of smoke extractor fan compartment;
• Cleaning of silicone tube connected to pressure switch;
• Cleaning, inspection and descaling of the ignition resistance compartment, its replacement if necessary;
• Clean/check synoptic panel;
• Visual inspection of electrical cables, connections and power supply cord;

11. Replacing the elements
The stove is equipped with a 4 mm thick ceramic glass, resistant to a 750°C thermal shock; the glass can
only be broken due to a strong impact or an improper use.
Do not slam the door or hit the glass.
In case of break, only replace the glass with an original one supplied by the Authorised Assistance Centre.
Annual maintenance by the assistance centre
These operations must be scheduled annually by the Authorised Assistance Centre and are necessary to
ensure maintenance of the product efficiency, guaranteeing its safe operation.
• Accurate cleaning of the combustion chamber;
• Cleaning and inspection of the smoke discharge duct;
• Check of seal of the gaskets;
• Cleaning of mechanisms and of moving parts (motors and fans);
• Check of electrical and electronic components.
