The ear foam pads and other headset pieces should be replaced to provide comfort for the
crewmember and to ensure proper operation. The battery charger should be checked to ensure
proper operation..

Procedure
1 Gather equipment to be
inspected
Gather all headsets, batteries
and battery charger.
For 24-hour restaurants, clean
equipment not in use first.
Then swap out cleaned
equipment with equipment
worn by crew members.
2 Locate the manager’s kit
The manager’s kit has all the
replacement parts required.
3 Replace rubber ear cup on the
headset (C-1060 and XT-1
only)
Remove and discard existing
ear pad and ear cup.
Replace ear cup with one
from the manager’s kit by
aligning cut out on bottom of
ear cup holder with the tabs
on the headset. Push in to
place and slightly twist to
secure.
Note: Ear pad will be replaced
in the next step

Why
Semi-Annually
Before removing any parts, make sure to have
replacement parts available.
Wrap new ear pad, from the manager’s kit, around the
speaker housing.

5 Replace head band pad on the
headset (C-1060 and XT-1 only)
Carefully peel off and discard
the head band pad from the
back of the battery housing.
Use a clean cloth to remove
all adhesive residue in that
area.
Remove protective backing
from new head band pad and
press it into place on the back
of the battery housing.
6 Replace Top Pad, Side Pad and

Wrap new ear pad, from the
G5 manager’s kit, around the
speaker housing.
Before removing any parts,
make sure to have
replacement parts available.

Comfort Pad (960 only)
Using a small screwdriver or coin,
press in and down on pad clip to
remove old pads. Discard these pads
and snap new pads into place.
8 Replace windscreen on the
headset (960, C1060 and XT-1)
Remove the old windscreen
from the headset. Install the
replacement windscreen from
the manager’s kit. Stretch
opening of new windscreen
and slide over
Microphone
The windscreen from the C-1060/XT-1 manager’s kit
can be used for 960 as well.

Attach in place a head pad,
from the G5 manager’s kit,

7 Replace Ear Pad (960 only)
Remove and discard existing
ear pad. Flap new ear pad over
top of earpiece and pull
downward, stretching to cover
earpiece
Replace ear pad on the headset (G5 only)
Remove and discard existing
ear pad.

Ensure battery charger
is functioning properly
Batteries should fit
tightly in the battery
charger. When a
battery is placed into
the slot, a red light will
come on. This
indicates the battery is
currently charging.
A green light, when on,
indicates the battery is
charged. If the charger does
not perform as stated, please
call 1-800-328-0033 for
3M Technical support
Have an extra battery for
each headset. This helps ensure
a fully charged battery is always
available.
Recharge a battery as soon as it
is removed from the headset.
