Getting Started
Before First Use
After having your ceramic cooktop professionally installed, follow a few simple steps to prepare it for its first
use.
• Start by reading this instruction manual from start to finish, familiarising yourself with the appliance.
• Pay particular attention to the general safety instructions covered earlier within this information manual.
• Ensure the cooktop surface is clean by wiping the cooktop surface with a damp cloth or sponge to remove
any dust that has accumulated. Dry thoroughly using a clean cloth.
• During your cooktops first use, their may be an odour whilst operating the burners- this is normal. To
assist with eliminating any odours and burning off any moisture or humidity that may have formed on the
heating elements during transit, switch on one cooking zone at a time and let it heat up for 5 minutes at
the maximum heat setting. Place a suitably sized saucepan filled half full with cold water on to each zone
as you burn it off.
Note: Do not burn off more than one zone at a time. Any odour or smoke can be disregarded safely; ensure
good room ventilation whilst following this procedure.
• Refer to the following pages for the switching on/off instructions.
Note: The first few times the ceramic cooktop is used, it may give off an acrid, burning smell. This is no cause
for concern. The smell will disappear completely with repeated use. Always ensure adequate ventilation.
Operating Instructions
Touch Controls
• The controls respond to touch, so you don’t need to apply any pressure.
• Use the ball of your finger, not the tip (Fig. 8).
• You will hear a beep each time a touch is registered.
• Make sure the controls are always clean, dry, and that there are no objects (e.g. a utensil or a cloth)
covering them. Even a thin film of water may make the controls difficult to operate.

Operating Instructions Cont.
Choosing the right Cookware
Do not use cookware with jagged edges or a curved base (Fig. 9). Cookware made of enamelled steel or with
aluminium or copper bottoms can leave discolorations on the glass ceramic surface which are difficult or
impossible to remove.
Fig. 9
Make sure that the base of your pan is smooth, sits flat against the glass, and is the same size as the cooking
zone. Always centre your pan on the cooking zone. (Fig. 10)
Fig. 10
Always lift pans off the ceramic cooktop – do not slide, or they may scratch the glass. (Fig. 11)
Fig. 11
WARNING: Take care when frying as the oil and fat heat up very quickly, particularly if you’re using Power
Boost. At extremely high temperatures oil and fat will ignite spontaneously and this presents a serious fire
risk.

• M
ake sure the ceramic
cooktop is connected to the
power supply and that it is
switched on.
• Check your fuse box to
ensure a fuse hasn’t blownflip or replace as necessary.

See ‘Care and cleaning’.
Some pans make crackling or

This may be caused by the
construction of your cookware
(layers of different metals
vibrating differently).
This is normal for cookware and
does not indicate a fault.
Responsible Disposal
At the end of its working life, do not throw the appliance out with your household rubbish. Electrical

Goods or Parts Notice
Unfortunately, from time to time, faulty products are manufactured which need to be
returned to the Supplier for repair.
Please be aware that if your product is capable of retaining user-generated data (such as files
stored on a computer hard drive, telephone numbers stored on a mobile telephone, songs
stored on a portable media player, games saved on a games console or files stored on a USB
memory stick) during the process of repair, some or all of your stored data may be lost.
We recommend you save this data elsewhere prior to sending the product for repair.
You should also be aware that rather than repairing goods, we may replace them with
refurbished goods of the same type or use refurbished parts in the repair process.
Please be assured though, refurbished parts or replacements are only used where they
meet ALDI’s stringent quality specifications.
If at any time you feel your repair is being handled unsatisfactorily, you may escalate your
complaint. Please telephone us on 1300 11 43 57 or write to us at:
