Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plug or appliance in water or any other liquid. Close supervision is necessary when used near children or pets. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow the Steam Cleaner to cool before putting on or taking off parts. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries and invalidate any warranty you may have. The Steam Cleaner is not designed for outdoor use. Always ensure the water fill does not exceed 1.2 litres. This appliance is for household use only. This appliance is an attended appliance, and as such should never be left ON or pressurized (follow procedure for de-pressurising, see RE-FILLING WITH WATER IN USE, steps 1-3) without adult supervision. NEVER open the Pressure Cap during use unless you have correctly followed the instructions elsewhere in this guide. The Pressure Cap gets hot in use; handle it with care. The jet of steam emitted is very powerful; so make sure it is not directed at persons, pets or delicate items. Liquid or steam should not be directed towards equipment containing electrical components such as interiors of ovens. The Steam Cleaner should be filled with water only when the unit is disconnected from the power supply. Use a funnel or small measuring jug on filling so as not to spill water over the controls – if a spillage occurs, wipe dry before use. The Steam Cleaner takes a few minutes to reach operating temperature and pressure. During this time, the Steam Cleaner will not be totally effective. You must not get the power cord tangled or knotted or wet in use. You must not allow the steam hose or tools to become knotted or obstructed SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE THE HOSE MUST BE FIRMLY PUSHED INTO THE BODY, YOU WILL FEEL/HEAR A CLICK. IF YOU DON’T FEEL/HEAR THE CLICK, THE Steam Cleaner Transformer IS UNLIKELY TO WORK BEFORE USE Check that the voltage of the appliance corresponds to the mains voltage of your home. This appliance is fitted with an earth for extra safety. Remove all packaging from the Steam Cleaner, including any protective coverings. Your new Steam Cleaner is an attended appliance, and as such should not be left operating unattended. KNOWING YOUR NEW STEAM CLEANER ON/OFF button Power Light Variable steam control Carry handle Steam Ready Light Easy glide wheels Release button for base Pressure cap The Steam Trigger is under the handle; this is active when the power supply is connected. The Safety Catch must be toggled before the Steam Trigger can be operated; once the Steam Trigger is operated, the Safety Catch can be released. FILLING YOUR STEAM CLEANER If you live in a hard water area, it is best to use distilled water (this prevents internal limescale that may damage the steam system); ensure the Steam Cleaner is OFF and on a stable, flat surface, unscrew the Pressure Cap and, using the funnel and beaker provided, fill with up to 1200 ml water. Do not overfill the unit as it will not function properly. Tighten up the Pressure Cap afterwards. NOTE THAT ONCE SWITCHED ON, THE CAP CANNOT BE REMOVED WITHOUT FOLLOWING THE CORRECT PROCEDURE. THERE IS A SAFETY DEVICE TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL OPENING IN USE. Warning! This cap gets hot in use; handle with care. Follow the correct procedure for de-pressurising, see RE-FILLING WITH WATER IN USE, steps 1-3 OPERATING YOUR STEAM CLEANER Ensure that you have filled with water and that the Pressure Cap is tight. Connect the tubes, accessory attachment and the steam hose of the steam gun or the Professional Iron accessory into the outlet of the body, see picture here. Switch on the unit by pressing the ON/OFF switch to the ON position; the Steam Cleaner Power Light will be illuminated. The Steam Ready Light will also be illuminated; when operating pressure is reached, the light will go out; in use this cycles on and off and this is quite normal. ** Your Steam Cleaner may take up to 12 minutes to reach operating temperature and boiler pressure. You cannot effectively use the unit during this time. When the Steam Ready Light goes out, you can then start to use the Steam Cleaner** with separate adaptor, requires fitting and rotating in place If the Steam Cleaner seems to be un-naturally hot and you can smell burning….you have probably run out of water! Switch off and allow to cool before re-filling. RE-FILLING WITH WATER IN USE These instructions must be correctly observed to avoid a hazard. 1. Keep using the Steam Trigger until no more steam or air is expelled in order to release the steam pressure from within the boiler. This may take a few minutes. FAILURE TO COMPLETELY DO THIS IS LIKELY TO RESULT IN A HAZARD TO THE USER. When no more steam or vapour is produced, then….. 2. Switch OFF using the ON/OFF button; the Power Light will go out. Unplug from the power supply. 3. SLOWLY unscrew the Pressure Cap NOTE THAT THERE MAY BE RESIDUAL PRESSURE WITHIN, SO STEAM MAY ESCAPE UPWARDS. THE CAP GETS HOT IN USE, SO HANDLE WITH CARE; WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU WEAR GLOVES. 4. If the cap doesn’t unscrew, follow STEPS 1 and 2 again 5. Wait a few moments to allow the boiler to cool. 6. Add fresh water, note there may be a small amount of water remaining so you may not be able to wholly fill with 1.2-litres of water. NOTE ALSO THE BOILER WILL BE HOT SO THERE MAY BE SOME SPITTING OF THE FRESH WATER. SO, ALLOW SOME TIME BEFORE REFILLING. 7. Follow the steps in OPERATING YOUR STEAM CLEANER. ACCESSORIES Your new Steam Cleaner comes equipped with a selection of tools. Additionally you can purchase new tools using the Order Form attached or online at www.teamuki.com and follow the link to the Shop and then to Spares. The accessories reside in the black tray that is the underbody of the Steam Cleaner; all the tools except for the 3 x extension tubes and floor nozzle/brush can be safely stowed in there. The tubes and the mating connectors get hot in use, so always take care and be aware of this hazard. Depress the locking button and slide tools on (or off) over the button. PROFESSIONAL STEAM IRON ACCESSORY Your new Steam Cleaner may include a Professional Steam Iron accessory complete with cooling rack. This can only be used with this Steam Cleaner. Ensure the steam cleaner has water; plug in the iron keeping the iron on the rack supplied or on an appropriate ironing board. Switch on the steam cleaner, and the Professional Steam Iron will become active. The thermostat dial as normal regulates the soleplate temperature. The steam trigger on the handle, and the lock-on device on that steam trigger, deliver the steam. ALWAYS USE THE COOLING RACK. THE SOLEPLATE IS HOT AND REMAINS HOT AFTER USE. Floor brush adaptor is fitted upside down then rotated to correct upwards orientation Cloth fits under sprung wings of brush AFTER USE & MAINTENANCE Help! I THINK MY Steam Cleaner HAS GONE WRONG Ensure the Steam Cleaner is unplugged and left to completely cool down. ALWAYS wholly empty the boiler of water. Wipe clean with a soft damp cloth, occasionally use a mild detergent only; do not use any form of descaler or water treatment in the boiler as this will damage the internal components and may invalidate any warranty you may have. If you are in a hard water area, or you think you may be, use pure or distilled water. DO NOT USE BOILED WATER. Check here for some tips and hints or call or e-mail us. The steam hose of the steam gun and of the Professional Iron accessory can be dis-assembled from the body by squeezing the lateral tabs and pulling out sharply. The power must be disconnected before attempting this procedure. The power cord and steam hoses may be loosely hanked – do not tightly wrap. Take care to purge the tools and hose of water, and pack in such a way that the steam hoses do not become blocked or permanently kinked. We recommend keeping the Steam Cleaner in its original box. To re-fit the body to the base, follow the schematic here, fitting the male edge in the front of the tool tray with the female receptacle on the forward leading edge of the underside of the yellow body before snapping sharply down at the rear. You may need to brace the steam cleaner from moving forward during this procedure. Water comes out of the nozzle The Steam Cleaner develops a massive amount of steam. This may condense as water or water droplets in the steam hose and tools and nozzle, which are then expelled when used after a period of cooling. This is normal and not a cause for concern or product return. No steam comes out Check in case the hose has become kinked or blocked, or that you have run out of water or power! I can’t get 1.2 litres of water in / Water is leaking The boiler has a capacity of 1.2 litres. If it is not wholly emptied in use or manual pouring, you will not be able to get 1.2 litres of water in. It can be difficult to pour out the last few millilitres of water….have patience! If the boiler has not been wholly emptied AND you fill it with 1.2 litres of water, this ‘excess’ will escape and you will think you have a leak! If in doubt, manually empty or fill with, say, 0.5-litre. I can’t get the pressure cap off Make sure that you have wholly depressurised the boiler, see the section REFILLING WITH WATER IN USE. Repeat steps 1 and 2, making sure that you leave the Steam Trigger on for a few minutes to ensure all steam and/or air has been released. If it still does not come off….call or e-mail us. Do NOT return the unit to your retailer. Steam flow is erratic, sometimes it works really well, sometimes not so good If you have not used pure water, you may have a small blockage inside your Steam Cleaner. We can service the unit for you, contact us for more information. OR…the small o-ring gasket on your tool has become worn. Check in the packaging or unit, there should be some spares; if not contact us (see warranty information for contact detail). I have hard water and use boiled water from the kettle, or water that I left in the boiler, now my Steam Cleaner doesn’t work well at all. Actually, you have made matters worse because boiled water concentrates the minerals that form limescale rather than boiling them away. Water left in the boiler will go off and may create a reaction with the boiler and/or the steam hose. So, ALWAYS empty the machine after use and NEVER use boiled water.
