Contact Wall Station
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Contact Wall Stations Overview
Contact Wall Stations are "stand alone" stations that combines local wallbox dimming controls
with an integral occupancy sensing system that fits your energy conservation needs. Utilizing
multiple detection technologies, Contact Wall Station sensors are the first true sensors with the
intelligence to discern between human occupancy/vacancy and the movement of air, plants,
curtains, and other inanimate objects. This extremely accurate technology, combined with the
intelligence to learn and adjust to your uses of the space, will not only save energy by turning
on the lights only when you need them, but will minimize inconvenience to you by not turning
them off at the wrong time.
Dimmers are available to control Incandescent/Inductive, PowerSpec HDF, and Advance
Mark 10 load types in 120/277 Volt installations.
Single and 2-channel non-dim switch stations are also available for 120/277 Volt installations.

INSTALLATION
General Installation Guidelines
1.
Per the National Electric Code®, Contact dimmers require that the neutral wire be
considered a current carrying conductor. Each circuit feeding a Contact dimmer or a
Contact dimmed load requires a separate neutral. No shared or common neutrals are
allowed. Shared neutrals will result in an undesirable flashing of controlled loads.
2.
The Contact Occupancy Sensor Dimmers and Non-Dim Switches are designed with a
strap style mounting plate, and are supplied with a single gang decorator style faceplate.
The devices can be mounted in a multi-gang wall box with other strap design devices
from Strand Lighting and other manufacturers, if desired.
3.
Contact Dimmers or Switches may be fed individually or in groups, regardless of phase.
4.
Do not connect Contact dimmers to Ground Fault Interrupt (GFI) or Ground Fault Circuit
Interrupter (GFCI) circuit breakers.
Completing the Installation
After the system installation is complete, the installer should fill out the Install and Programming tag (included) and attach to the wall-mounted controls. The tag is pictured below:

Installing Wall Station Dimmers and Non-Dim Switches
CAUTION: Before any electrical work is performed, disconnect power at the
circuit breaker or remove the fuse to avoid shock or damage to the unit.
Standard Installation:
Step 1. Disconnect power to all circuits in the electrical box in which the dimmer will be
placed.
Step 2. If using the supplied screwless faceplate, mount the black trim ring under the metal
strap.
Step 3a. For 61320 Dimmer, connect power leads as follows (see Figure 1 and Figure 5):
a. Black - line in, 120 VAC or 277 VAC.
b. White - neutral connection.
c. Bare stranded copper - to ground (proper ground connection required).
d. Red - to load (light fixture).
e. Yellow - carrier to 61325 Dimmer Channel Remote (optional). This wire must
be capped with the provided wire nut if not used.
Step 3b. For 61322 Dimmer, connect power leads as follows (see Figure 2 and Figure 5):
a. Black - line in, 120 VAC or 277 VAC.
b. White - neutral connection.
c. Bare stranded copper - to ground (proper ground connection required).
d. Red - to load (light fixture).
e. Tan - to dimming signal conductor to PowerSpec HDF Ballast.
f. Yellow - carrier to 61325 Dimmer Channel Remote (optional). This wire must
be capped with the provided wire nut if not used.
Step 3c. For 61323 Dimmer, connect power leads as follows (see Figure 3 and Figure 5):
a. Black - line in, 120 VAC or 277 VAC.
b. White - neutral connection.
c. Bare stranded copper - to ground (proper ground connection required).
d. Red - to load (light fixture – Advance Mark 10 or direct-drive fluorescent
ballasts only).
e. Yellow - carrier to 61325 Dimmer Channel Remote (optional). This wire must
be capped with the provided wire nut if not used.

Step 3d. For 61321 and 61338 Non-Dim Switches, connect power leads as follows (see
Figure 4 and Figure 6):
a. Black - line in, 120 VAC or 277 VAC.
b. Bare stranded copper - to ground (proper ground connection required).
c. Red - to load (light fixture).
d. Yellow - carrier to 61326 Non-Dim Switch Channel Remote (optional). This
wire must be capped with a provided wire nut if not used.
Step 4. Any unused conductors must be capped with a wire nut making certain no copper
wire is exposed.
Step 5. Mount dimmer in wall box, making sure that all leads fit comfortably without
crushing. Place centered LED at the top of the box and the bar at the left side.
Step 6. After tightening dimmer mounting screws, mount the faceplate by snapping into
place.
Step 7. Restore power to the circuit.
Note: Allow 2 minutes for the sensor to power up and begin working.

Multi-Location (3-Way) Remote Wiring Diagrams
The Channel Remote is a designer-style, multi-location device that uses existing 3-way wiring
to control the on/off commands for any Contact Wall Station. The remote device will function
the same as the UP and DOWN on the sensor device.
CAUTION: A regular 3-way switch should NOT be used to control a Contact
Wall Station. Doing so may damage and, in turn, void the unit’s warranty.
Connect 3-way and multi-location wiring according to Figure 5.
