Heat sink design and selection are critical. Heat
sink performance depends on many variables including:
air temperature and air flow rate in the immediate
vicinity of the heat sink; the strength of other heat
conduction paths through components and boards;
the contact resistance between the heat sink and the
component it is attached to; the radiation path from
the heat sink to a cooler surface, etc. Heat sinks can
also have a significant effect on electromagnetic fields.
A heat sink that works well in one application may be
virtually useless in another.
I. Good aerodynamics
IEI heat sinks allow air to easily flow rapidly through the cooler, and reach all the
cooling fins. This feature is important for heat sinks with many thin fins.
II. Perfect flatness of the contact area by IEI new close flatness technology !!!
The heat sink contact area must be perfectly flat. A flat contact area allows you
to use a thinner layer of thermal compound that reduces the thermal resistance
between the heat sink and the heat source.
III. Good mounting method
For good thermal transfer, the pressure between the heat sink and the heat source
must be high. IEI heat sink clips provide increased pressure at the contact point
and are easy to install.
IV. Good thermal transfer within the heatsink
Large cooling fins are pointless if the heat can’t reach them. The IEI heat sink was
designed to allow good thermal transfer from the heat source to the fins.

ASF is a standard created by the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF). It
is implemented in the PC’s hardware and firmware, and is managed from a remote
console. ASF provides robust management features that function while the PC does
not have an operation system (OS) present.
When the OS is present in a client PC, much of its remote functionality is available
using various tools. However, the client PC is often in an OS-absent state- either
because the PC is turned off, has gone into a low power mode, or has hung during
operation. As a result, the ability to remotely interact with a PC is severely limited.
This is why ASF was created: to provide a suite of features that can be accessed
remotely while the PC does not have an OS present. These features fall into two
categories:
Alerting: A PC can alert a remote management console with – “I have a problem”
Remote Control: A remote management console can control an OS-absent PC.
