TheSFP+moduleprovidestwoinputsRS0andRS1thatcanoptionallybeusedforrateselection.RS0
controlsthereceivepathsignalingratecompatibility,andRS1controlsthetransmitpathsignalingrate
compatibility.Thehostandmodulemaychoosetouseeither,both,ornoneofthesefunctions.Because
contact9intheclassicSFPINF-8074iisconnectedtoVeeR,andSFP+hostutilizingRS1mustprovide
shortcircuitprotection.
ThisrateselectfunctionalitycanalsobecontrolledbysoftwareasdefinedbySFF-8472.Optionallythe
rateselectmethodsofPart2SFF-8079maybeusedinsteadofthemethoddescribedherebysettingthe
managementdeclarationbit(A0hbyte93bit2)to1,seeSFF-8472.
