Background
This document accompanies the AirCleaner System Firmware from the Abekas FTP download site. This new firmware is used to update
the main operating firmware in the AirCleaner Digital Video/Audio Delay System. Your AirCleaner MUST have V3.00 firmware or higher in
order to install V3.4firmware
This document provides information that details the following information:
 Preparations for AirCleaner that must be performed BEFORE installing V3.4firmware.
 FPGA Installation Procedure
 List of Bug Fix.
Be sure to read this entire document before starting, to make sure you understand the procedure. The firmware and software installation
procedure will take approximately 1 hour to perform; during most of this time, the update process can be unattended.
Equipment Required
This firmware update procedure requires you to have the following:
 Windows personal computer (Windows PC) running Windows XP, with 100/T Ethernet port
 “Cross-Over” Ethernet cable (this is not a standard “straight-through” cable; rather it is an Ethernet cable with the “receive” and
“transmit” lines crossed over for a direct “client-to-client” Ethernet connection)
 An Internet connection for the above Windows PC

Version 3.4 Firmware Update
 FPGA Firmware Update Installation
To update the firmware in the Abekas AirCleaner, you will first need to connect a Windows-based personal computer (Windows PC) to the
Internet in order to download the AirCleaner firmware ZIP file. Afterward, you will then need to connect this same Windows PC to the
AirCleaner via a “cross over” Ethernet cable; this will also require you to temporarily change the Ethernet IP address in this Windows PC.
Once the firmware update procedure is completed, you will be able to change the Ethernet IP address of the AirCleaner itself, to match it to
the subnet of your in-house Ethernet network.
1. Download the Firmware Installation files from the Abekas web site:
With a Windows PC connected to the Internet, download the V3.4Firmware .bin files from the following download page on the Abekas
Download site:
http://abekas.com/download/Abekas_Products/AirCleaner/Firmware/Release/V3.4/
Download both the “fpga.bin” file to the Windows PC desktop. (Note the location of the downloaded file)
2.
‘Cut’ and ‘Paste’ the FPGA Firmware to the “C” drive of the Windows PC:
A.
Right-Click on the “fpga.bin” file in the folder where the
.bin file was downloaded in the previous step. Select
‘cut’.

UNFORTUNATELY, THERE IS NO RESTART STATUS; SIMPLY WAIT AT LEAST 1 MINUTE (60 seconds)
K.
Since the “Windows Security Alert” window had
appeared earlier in this procedure (and you have
“Unblocked” it), the Alert may have interfered with a
proper FTP transfer of the “fpga.bin” file to the
AirCleaner. Therefore, you will need to:
 Repeat steps (8A) through (8J) starting on page 5
above, to re-copy the “fpga.bin” file;
 Ensure the “Windows Security Alert” window does
not appear this time around;
 Then continue with the next step for the
remainder of the procedure…
