Old wall-outlets can sometimes cause power loss.
System is on but no sound.
VOLUME control is at “minimum” position.
Adjust the VOLUME control to a higher sound level.

PLAY pressed, but there is no
sound.
Poor speaker connections
Turn off power.
Check the connections on system and speakers. Make secure connections.
After closing the compartment

Although it's obvious just check to see if you have loaded a disc!
Remove the object e.g. piece of paper or a remnant of packaging.
The sound is poor, distorted or
keeps jumping.
CD is dirty or badly scratched.
Clean the CD, or try another clean CD.
Poor tape playback sound.
Are you using good quality cassettes?
Try replacing the cassette.
The tape heads and rollers are dirty
Clean the tape heads and rollers as described on page 32
The cassette is erase protected
Remove the cassette erase protection tabs
The TAPE function is not selected
Select the TAPE function
Have you inserted a blank tape or is there a large section of blank tape, usually
towards the end of a prerecorded tape?
The tape will not record.
If the problem still exists after checking all these points contact the store where you purchased your Hi-Fi.
