PARAGON 4 PARAGON 5 PARAGON 6 TREADMILL OWNER’S MANUAL Read the treadmill guide before using this owner’s manual. ASSEMBLY WARNING There are several areas during the assembly process that special attention must be paid. It is very important to follow the assembly instructions correctly and to make sure all parts are firmly tightened. If the assembly instructions are not followed correctly, the treadmill could have frame parts that are not tightened and will seem loose and may cause irritating noises. To prevent damage to the treadmill, the assembly instructions must be reviewed and corrective actions should be taken. Before proceeding, find your treadmill’s serial number located on the front stabilizer tube and enter it in the space provided below. Also locate the model name which is next to the serial number. It is recommended that you place a protective covering on your floor. Take CAUTION when handling and transporting this unit. Never open box when it is on its side. Once the banding straps have been removed, do not lift or transport this unit unless it is fully assembled. Unpack and assemble the unit where it will be used. Never grab hold of any portion of the incline frame and attempt to lift or move the treadmill. NOTE: During each assembly step, ensure that ALL nuts and bolts are in place and partially threaded in before completely tightening any ONE bolt. NOTE: A light application of grease may aid in the installation of hardware. Any grease, such as lithium bike grease is recommended. 5 ASSEMBLY STEP 1 HARDWARE for step 1 : Paragon 6 Shown BOLT (A) M8 x 10 Qty: 2 ASSEMBLY STEP 2 A B Cut the yellow banding straps and lift the running deck upward to remove all contents from underneath the running deck. Open HARDWARE BAG 1 C Screw in the 2 bolt(a) to the main frame bracket. RIGHT CONSOLE MAST LEFT CONSOLE MAST D Connect the CONSOLE CABLES at RIGHT CONSOLE MAST an carefully tuck wires to CONSOLE MAST to avoid damage. E Align and attach right console mast with main frame bracket using bolt(a) and repeat on the other side. HARDWARE for step 2 : BOLT (B) M8 x 70 mm Qty: 8 SPRING WASHER (C) Φ 8.2 mm Qty: 8 FLAT WASHER (D) Φ 8.2 mm Qty: 8 A Open HARDWARE BAG 2 B Attach console mast to main frame bracket using 4 bolts (B), 4 spring washers (C) and 4 FLAT washers (D). Paragon 6 Shown C Repeat step B on other side. RIGHT CONSOLE MAST NOTE: Do not tighten bolts until step 4 is complete. LEFT CONSOLE MAST NOTE: Do not pinch console cable when placing the mast onto the main frame bracket. B Slide handlebar onto CONSOLE MAST BRACKET and attach using 3 BOLTS (E), 3 SPRING WASHERSS(F), 2 FLAT WASHERS(G) & 1 ARC WASHER (H). (Refer to graphic at left for more details) HARDWARE for step 4 : BOLT (I) M8 x 15 mm Qty: 4 SPRING WASHER (C) Φ 8.2 mm Qty: 4 A Open HARDWARE BAG 4. B Gently hold the CONSOLE above the CONSOLE MAST. FLAT WASHER (D) Φ 8.2 mm Qty: 4 C Connect the CONSOLE CABLES, carefully tucking wires in masts to avoid damage. C Repeat on other side. D Attach the CONSOLE to the console mast using 4 BOLTS (I), 4 SPRING WASHERS (C) and 4 Flat WASHERS (D). E Fold the deck into the upright position until the foot latch engages. Make sure the spacing between the handlebars and the deck are the same then tighten BOLTS from step 2 to step 4. Note: Be careful not to pinch any wires. B Carefully attach RIGHT CONSOLE MAST OUTER & INNER COVER together using 4 SCREWS (J). HARDWARE for step 5 : SCREW (K) Φ 4 x 10 Qty: 2 A Gently attach the left water bottle holder to the CONSOLE with front edge facing down. B Once the LEFT WATER BOTTLE HOLDER is in place carefully push through the WATTER BOTTLE HOLDER to its position until you hear a“click”at rear edge. C Repeat the step B on the opposite side. Note: Connect and screw in the outer cover before fixing the inner cover. Be careful not to RIGHT COVER scratch or brake the plastic while assembling. Make sure the cover set is centered and well assembled before tighten the screws. Used to monitor your heart rate (displayed when contact is made with both pulse grips). • Circle: Shows your progress of your current lap (400M circle run). • Laps: Shows how many laps have you completed • Alphanumeric display window: Passport synchronisation, proFILE display information and other communication texts. 23 GETTING STARTED PARAGON 6 DISPLAYS 1) Check to make sure no objects are placed on the belt that will hinder the movement of the treadmill. 2) Plug in the power cord and turn the treadmill ON. 3) Stand on the side rails of the treadmill. Paragon 6 Shown 4) Attach the safety key clip to part of your clothing making sure that it is secure and will not become detached during operation. 5) Insert the safety key into the safety keyhole in the console. 6) You have two options to start your workout: EnergySaver ENERGIESPARMODUS A) Quick start up Display windows • TIME: Shown as minutes : seconds. View the time remaining or the time elapsed in your workout. • dot-matrix LED window (10 × 12): To display Program name, Program profiles and communication text • DISTANCE: Shown as km or miles. Indicates distance traveled or distance remaining during your workout. • PROGRAM PROFILES: Represents the profile of the program being used (speed during speed based programs and incline during incline based programs). • SPEED: Shown as MPH or KMPH. Used to monitor your heart rate (displayed when contact is made with both pulse grips). Simply press the START key to begin working out. Time, distance, and calories will all count up from zero. OR... 1) Enter Setup mode: Press and hold quick speed 2 and 4 buttons for 3 seconds on the programming 2) Use button to change settings and press enter to confirm. ALL MODELS 3) Settings include: Month, Day, Year, Hour, Minute, and am/pm. 4) Review settings: You can review your settings at any time while in setup mode. Press enter to scroll through settings. 5) Exit setup mode: To confirm the date and time, press and hold enter for 3 seconds. The ultimate in personal programming. Time-based goal. Your target heart rate should be set at a number that you will be able to exercise at throughout the majority of your workout. Once you have chosen your target heart rate, press the ‘Start’ button and begin your workout. • There is a 4-minute warm-up built into this program at level 1 incline. • After 4 minutes, the incline will gradually adjust to bring your heart rate (within+/- 5 beats) of the target number you selected at the beginning of the program. • Once the user is at the target heart rate zone (plus or minus 5 beats), the elevation level will remain at the current resistance level. • If there is no heart rate detected, the unit will not change incline levels up or down. • If the user is more than 25 beats per minute above the target heart rate zone, the console will shut down for safety reasons. 8) Select CUSTOM 1, CUSTOM 2 or CUSTOM 3 using and press enter on the programming button . NOTE: • The chest strap is required to use the HRC program, with HRC program you can only choose time as your workout target. • Target heart rate is selected in multiples of 5 beats. • The large dot matrix window displays your heart rate during exercise. The middle row represents your target heart rate (THR) and the other rows equal +/-2 heart beats. If you are working out beneath your THR, the LEDs below the middle row will illuminate. If you are over, the display LCD/LED above the middle row will illuminate. Your current heart rate is represented by the flashing column and the window will refresh every 5 seconds. 32 9) Select WEIGHT using and press enter on the programming button . 10)Select TIME using and press enter on the programming button . Because your new training machine is equipped with HORIZON’s exclusive PROFILE Performance Tracker, you’ve taken an important step towards achieving your fitness goals. 3) The integrated PROFILE software allows you to track your fitness progress over time without the need for paper journals or logs. With PROFILE, you can easily compare your current workout to your last, average or lifetime workout totals. With quick access to feedback like duration of workout or calories burned during previous workouts, you’ll be able to see the progress you’ve made. Read further to learn about how PROFILE can help motivate you to enhance your performance. SETUP To activate PROFILE, a user MUST be chosen before the program begins. To select a USER 1 or 2, use the PROGRAMMING BUTTON and press ENTER to confirm. All accumulated data specifically relates to the user that is chosen. NOTE: If no user is selected and clock and date are not set, no data will be tracked. RESET 4) Weekly goal: Indicates the weekly goal you set. • LEFT – Indicates the time or distance you have left to complete to meet your weekly goal. • TIME or DISTANCE – The total time or distance goal you selected and the time or distance you have left to complete to meet your weekly goal. • The GOAL and LEFT will display alternately every 3 seconds. • GOAL DONE will appear when goal is completed. • If the date and clock are not set and/or a weekly goal is not set, WEEKLY GOAL will display zeros. • The time or distance left for the weekly goal will reset at the end of each week. 5) WEEKLY TOTAL: View your accumulated data from the last Sunday to the present day. NOTE: This data is based on week to date NOT the previous seven days. For instance, if you have not used the machine since Sunday, the console will read zeros. The following information will be shown in each display window: • INCLINE - Average incline level. • TIME - Total time of workout. • CALORIES - Average calories burned. • PACE - Average pace of weekly workout. • DISTANCE - Total distance of workout. • SPEED - Average speed of weekly workout. NOTE: If the date and clock are not set, weekly total will default to the last workout data. Reset all recorded information for USER 1 or USER 2 by selecting the user and then holding down the PROFILE button for 10 seconds. Note: This step is permanent and will delete ALL previously accumulated data for the chosen user. ACCUMULATED DATA Once PROFILE is activated, you can scroll through your accumulated data in multiple formats by pressing the PROFILE button. A workout is saved when: the program ends, the console is paused and not resumed within 5 minutes, or the STOP button is held to reset the console. 1) CURRENT WORKOUT: The console automatically defaults to current workout, displaying your progress in real time. 34 2) AVERAGE WORKOUT: This option allows you to see your average accumulated data for the last 30 workouts. NOTE: If time is greater than 59:59, the time will no longer display minutes and will display hours only. • CALORIES - Average calories burned. • PACE - Average pace. • DISTANCE - Total accumulated distance. • SPEED - Average speed. Syncing treadmill with Passport (Paragon 6 only) 1) Use the arrow keys on the Passport remote to scroll to the setup icon and press select. 2) Follow the on-screen prompt to press and hold the incline up and stop buttons on the console. ALL MODELS 3) Once your snyc is success, your treadmill message bar will change from RF Sync to Passport ready. 4) Besides point 3, the message displayed on-screen will notify you if the sync was a success or failure. Weekly goal setup 1) Select user 1 or user 2. NOTE: See Passport Owner’s Manual for more information. 2) Press profile™ button and scroll to weekly goal. 3) To enter setup mode: Press enter. Use you want to set a distance goal. on the programming button to set a time goal. Leave time at 00:00 if on the programming button to set a distance goal. If the distance is changed 4) Press enter again and use from 0.00, distance will be the goal. NOTE: You may only set a time or distance goal, not both. 3) Press enter again to exit the setup mode.| Energy saver (standby mode) This machine has an energy saver mode. The display will automatically enter standby mode (energy saver mode) after 15 minutes of inactivity after paused. Almost all power for the machine will be off except for some circuits that are needed to detect a key press, indicating the console should “wake up”. This feature can be turned off by entering the engineering menu. 36 To enter the engineering menu, press and hold the incline and speed buttons for 3-5 seconds. Use incline and speed to navigate through the menu to ENG3. Press ENTER to select. Use incline and speed to select ENRGY SAVER ON or OFF. Press and hold STOP for 3-5 seconds to exit ENG3. How do I set up my treadmill?
Make sure no objects are placed on the belt, plug in the power cord, stand on the side rails, attach the safety key clip, insert the safety key, and press Start.
How do I use the HRC program?
Press ‘Enter’ after selecting the HRC program. Adjust your target heart rate using the +/- incline buttons. Press ‘Start’ to begin your workout. The treadmill will automatically adjust the incline to bring your heart rate to your target zone. You must use a chest strap to get your heart rate.
How do I create a custom workout?
Select CUSTOM 1, 2, or 3 and press Enter. Select the weight, time, speed, and incline for each of the 15 segments. Press ‘Start’ to begin exercising. Your program will be saved for future use. You can adjust the speed or incline during a workout, but any changes will not be saved.
How do I use the PROFILE Performance Tracker?
Choose USER 1 or 2 using the PROGRAMMING BUTTON. To view the different workout data, press the PROFILE button. You can view data for your current workout, average workout, last workout, and lifetime total.
