Optional 8-MB Shuttle Memory Expansion
Your computer is equipped with 8 MB of random access
memory (RAM). You can increase memory by installing one
of the RAM options:
❏
8-MB RAM Expansion Board (TI Part No.
9798816-0001). This expands RAM from 8 MB to 16
MB.
❏
16-MB RAM Expansion Board (TI Part No.
9798816-0002). This expands RAM from 8 MB to 24
MB.
Additional Memory Expansion
❏ 8-MB Shuttle Memory Expansion (TI Part No.
9798816-0003) - allows further memory expansion by
adding an additional memory card onto one of the
existing memory expansion boards (listed above). The
following table illustrates possible memory
configurations with your TM5000 computer:
c
Caution: Texas Instruments does not warranty the use
of non-TI memory. TI will not be held responsible for
problems or degradation of performance incurred by
the use of any memory other than the TI memory
described in these instructions.

Installing A RAM Expansion Board
There are two methods for installing a RAM expansion
board:
❏
Direct connection of the optional 8-MB or 16-MB
expansion board to the computer
❏
Connection of the optional memory board to the
shuttle expansion board. The connected boards are
then directly connected to the computer
Installing 8-MB or 16-MB Boards
To install the 8-MB or 16-MB optional memory expansion
boards, complete the following steps.
c
Caution: Prevent component damage caused by
electrostatic discharge (ESD). Use a high-impedance,
grounded-conductive floor mat or wrist strap to prevent
ESD. Before touching the integrated circuit devices,
discharge static electricity from your hands, tools, and
containers by touching them to a grounded surface.

Attaching 8-MB Shuttle Expansion Memory
The 8-MB Shuttle Expansion Memory can only be installed
if you have already purchased an 8-MB or 16-MB RAM
expansion board. To attach the 8-MB Shuttle Expansion
Memory, complete the following steps:
1.
Turn off Quick Boot in the System Setup (refer to the
TM5000 User’s Reference Guide for information on
Quick Boot).
2.
Turn off the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, and
remove the battery pack.
