4. Known Issues
The QLogic Virtual Fabric Extension Module for IBM BladeCenter firmware version 9.0.3.2.0 has
the following known issues:
4.1 Brocade/QLogic operation that are not documented in the
Interoperability Guide:
Connecting a QLogic switch to a Brocade® switch through a GL_Port causes the ISL to work
intermittently. Workaround: Change the QLogic port to a G_Port. The Brocade switch
behaves this way with other non-QLogic switches.
4.2 I/O Problems with Ports 6-13; Changing from Down to Online
or Offline:
For ports 6-13, changing the port state from Down to Online/Offline on one port can
interrupt the data stream of the adjacent partner port. The adjacent partner port pairs are
(6,7), (8,9), (10,11), and (12,13). Workaround: Do not set the port state to Down; use
Offline instead.
4.3 I/O Problems with Ports 6-13; Changing to or from
Diagnostics:
For ports 6-13, changing an individual port state to or from Diagnostics, or running
individual port diagnostics on a port can interrupt the operation of the adjacent partner
port. The adjacent partner port pairs are (6,7), (8,9), (10,11), and (12,13). Workaround:
Avoid using the Diagnostics port state and running individual port diagnostics on ports 613. If diagnostics are required on ports 6-13, change the switch state to Diagnostics and
run switch-level diagnostics using the "test switch" command.

5. Additional Information
Detailed module configuration information can be found in the QLogic Virtual Fabric Extension
Module for IBM BladeCenter QuickTools User Guide or the QLogic Virtual Fabric Extension Module
for IBM BladeCenter Command Line Interface Guide on the support CD provided with each switch
module or on the IBM support web site.
If you have fabrics that cross time zones, this will cause time stamp differences in the various
switch logs.
When shutting down a BladeServer, ensure that the internal blades are shut down properly to
avoid excessive port statistics.
A switch configuration backup does not archive the primary or secondary secrets for any security
groups. Therefore, after restoring a switch configuration, you must reconfigure the security secrets
using the CLI. If you do not reconfigure the secrets, the module will isolate from the fabric
because of an invalid attach.
