Managed switches exceed the requirements of many networks, which often makes them just too expensive. Web-smart switches present a good alternative where
console-based configuration is not a requirement. The LANCOM GS-1224 is setting new standards for Web-smart switches: This new switch offers the usual security features
such as 802.1X authentication on all ports, and it allows for monitoring via SNMP and LANmonitor. It also features effective power-save functions. These include the
adaptation of power requirements to the cable length, and automatic deactivation of unused ports. The fanless design of this switch has two main advantages: It is an
energy saver and it makes the switch so quiet that it can be employed unobtrusively in offices and on business premises.
More Efficiency.
The LANCOM GS-1224 can re-route data packets when network glitches occur. The rapid spanning tree algorithm is so fast at this that users do not notice any delay. Just
as important as the rapid spanning tree algorithm is the efficient control of bandwidth. This ensures that important applications such as IP telephony are constantly provided
with ample bandwidth to avoid interruptions to conversations. The winners are your budget and the environment: The LANCOM GS-1224 makes do with a power consumption
of just 20 W, about one-third less than other conventional switches on the market. And yet the LANCOM GS-1224 can do more: It adapts its power consumption to the
length of the network cables. With shorter network cabling, power consumption is reduced. The only power consumed is that which is actually required for data transfer.

The LANCOM GS-1224 gives you the assurance that rogue clients cannot access your network via this switch. Configuring 802.1X access control for all ports ensures that
unauthorized devices plugged into a switch port cannot gain access to the network. Rest assured that all your network components are compatible: LANCOM switches
are the perfect link between LANCOM routers and LANCOM access points. In order for the wireless virtual networks (VLANs) supported by our access points to match-up
seamlessly to an external, cabled IPsec-based VPN, the switches at the junctions must be able to recognize the different VLANs and forward the data accordingly. The
LANCOM GS-1224 can do this, allowing you to benefit from convergent, professional network technology from a single source.
