Biometrics
OnGuard support for biometrics solutions is extensive. Biometric
verification is available as a seamlessly integrated solution. Through the
measurement and comparison of human characteristics such as
fingerprints, hand geometry, or Iris imaging, OnGuard has the capability to
verify the identity of enrolled individuals. OnGuard does NOT require the
use of the photo capturing license in order to capture biometrics, the license
required is separate (see OAAP integration).
OnGuard also provides the ability to view, capture, and delete biometric
templates. The System Administrator is able to provide permission to view,
capture, and delete biometric templates to System Operators. The
permission to view, capture, and delete inputted biometric templates shall
not be all inclusive. For example, some System Operators may only have
the ability to capture biometric templates, while others may have the ability
capture biometric templates and delete biometric templates. The System
Administrator has the ability to assign the System Operator access to any
or all of the aforementioned biometric template abilities.
Biometric verification is available on a timezone basis per reader. For
example, card readers on computer labs might always use card and
biometrics, while card readers at other areas could use card only during the
day and card and biometrics after regular business hours.

Elevator Integration
OnGuard is able to interface with Otis’ Compass Destination Entry System
version 1.0 and 2.0. This interface shall provide secure, optimized access to
banks of elevators. OnGuard will verify the cardholders access privileges
upon their arrival to an access point and their presentation of their credential.
Upon this verification, OnGuard will communicate with the dispatching
system to identify the floor(s) that the cardholder is permitted, as well as
determining the default floor for the cardholder. OnGuard will then direct the
cardholder to a designated elevator car for secure access to their default or
selected floor. OnGuard also allows for a custom person type descriptor to
be passed to the destination dispatching system, this is in addition to the
access permissions, default floor, and the disability flags.

up to 32 characters shall be given for Alarm Monitoring and reporting
purposes. System Administrators are able to configure a serial port and client
workstation that the panel is connected to, as well as communications speed.
System Administrators are able to program into OnGuard a list of intercom
functions that report into the Alarm Monitoring application. The intercom
interface allows for secondary annunciation of intercom calls, events, and
alarms in the Main Alarm Monitoring window. Intercom reporting into the
Main Alarm Monitoring window reports like any other access control alarm
and has the same annunciation and display properties as access control
alarms. All intercom, calls, events, and alarms that report into the SYSTEM
are stored in theSYSTEM database for future audit trail and reporting.
Additional intercom support can be found at the Lenel OAAP member page.

Intelligent Video
Lenel IntelligentVideo is a digital video analysis system with the ability to
recognize, analyze and classify information in both live and recorded video.
Lenel IntelligentVideo is events based; you configure predefined events to
suit your environment, and the system generates alarms whenever those
events occur.
IntelligentVideo events are configured in OnGuard System Administration.
The IntelligentVideo Server, like all other downstream devices, receives this
configuration information and begins to process video from the Lenel
Network and/or Lenel Digital Video Recorders. Events generated by the
IntelligentVideo Server are then transmitted to the Lenel Security Server for
storage in the Lenel Security Database, as well as to the Lenel Alarm
Monitoring clients in real time.
• Database segmentation (ADV/PRO)
IVSP-nn – IV Algorithm
DVC-IVS-A – IV Server
For no additional license charge, IntelligentVideo can also be used for
forensic style searching of recorded video. Recorded video is processed on
the Lenel Alarm Monitoring or Lenel VideoViewer client using the defined
events. For each event detected, a thumbnail image is created. This enables
you to browse through the events easily.

Mustering
OnGuard supports advanced Mustering functionality. The Mustering function
provides an automatic capability for registering cardholders that are on site
during an incident. Designated exit and entry card readers shall be used to
enter and leave hazardous locations and safe locations. When an incident
occurs, a Muster Report can be generated that consists of a listing of all
personnel that are within the hazardous locations as well as all personnel
that have registered in a safe location.
A Muster Mode can be used to automate some functionality. A Muster Mode
means that an incident has occurred and an evacuation is required of one or
more Hazardous Locations. A Hazardous Location can enter into Muster
Mode either automatically via an occurrence of a given hardware event
transaction (such as an Alarm Input going active) or manually via a System
Operator placing the Hazardous Location into Muster Mode.

the images. This allows immediate System Operator comparison of the live
video of the cardholder at the card reader and the stored image on record of
the cardholder.
• Terminal services support
• Database segmentation (ADV/PRO)
This feature is user configurable to automatically show the video verification
screen upon cardholder activity at the specified card readers. OnGuard also
gives System Operators the ability to choose which card readers will utilize
this feature, whether the feature will activate on access grants and/or access
denies, and whether to show the cardholder’s stored database image and/or
CCTV live video at the card reader. System Operators are able to switch
between records (images and live video) should multiple records enter
simultaneously or should another alarm that requires Video Verification enter
the SYSTEM while Video Verification is active.

Terminal Services
OnGuard supports an advanced thin client architecture. This architecture
shall provide the OnGuard user with complete access to configure and
operate their software through a simple Web browser interface. The need for
installed desktop client software is not be required. OnGuard thin client
architecture allows for the installation of Web server software and, once the
Web server is configured, allows an unlimited number of client workstations
(based on purchased licensing connections) to attach to the server and run
any of the OnGuard applications. Virtually any desktop operating system that
supports a Web browser is able to utilize the thin client architecture. This
shall include Windows 7, Windows 2008, Windows 2003, Windows XP,
Macintosh, UNIX, Solaris, and Linux. Thin client architecture is also
supported in mobile computing environments, such as Windows CE. The
interface shall display a minimum color depth of 8 bits (256 colors).

Database Segmentation
OnGuard employs an advanced database segmentation functionality. Each
segment is allowed to have its own unique set of cardholders, hardware, and
system parameters including access control field hardware, timezones,
access levels, etc., which allow System Administrators to expand upon
current hardware constraints. For example, each segment can have its own
32,000 access levels, 255 timezones, and 255 holidays. As such, only
credentials that are assigned access levels to card readers in a segment
need to be downloaded to the Intelligent System Controllers in that segment.
Cardholders shall be allowed to belong to one segment, many segments, or
all segments.

SWG-1240
The SYSTEM’s database segmentation functionality also provides a
“segment/landlord” architecture to object records in the SYSTEM, where
segment System Administrators and Operators can only view, add, modify,
delete, and manipulate cardholders, system parameters and access control
field hardware that belong to their respective segments. As such, Landlord
Administrators shall have complete control over the entire system.
See the OnGuard A&E Specification and System Administration User Guides
for more information on database segmentation.
